On <span class=\"xn-chron\">July 30, 2020<\/span>, Canadian health officials\u00a0announced\u00a0that they had determined red onions from the U.S. to be the potential source of the Canadian outbreak. The onions are being recalled because they have the potential to be contaminated with\u00a0<i>Salmonella<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><i>Salmonella <\/i>is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with\u00a0<i>Salmonella<\/i>\u00a0often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
