At issue are the close to 200,000 Georgians that Plaintiffs maintain have been improperly removed from the voter rolls for allegedly moving.<\/p>\n<div id=\"divReleaseHighlight87b0\" contenteditable=\"false\" style=\"BORDER-TOP: gray 1px solid; WIDTH: 200px; BORDER-BOTTOM: gray 1px solid; POSITION: relative; FLOAT: left; BORDER-LEFT-COLOR: gray; COLOR: gray; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 5px 10px; BORDER-RIGHT-COLOR: gray\">&#8220;This a voter suppression case,&#8221; Said Plaintiffs&#8217; counsel CK Hoffler. <\/div>\n<p>This lawsuit is based on the investigation by <span class=\"xn-person\">Greg Palast<\/span> that the ACLU of <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgia<\/span> released on <span class=\"xn-chron\">September 1, 2020<\/span>, entitled\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3016006-1&amp;h=1035313179&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gregpalast.com%2Faclu-releases-palast-fund-georgia-voter-purge-errors-report%2F&amp;a=Georgia+Voter+Roll+Purge+Errors\" rel=\"nofollow\"><b><i>Georgia Voter Roll Purge Errors<\/i><\/b><\/a>\u00a0identifying, by name, over 198,000 voters wrongly removed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This a voter suppression case,&#8221; said Plaintiffs&#8217; counsel C.K. Hoffler. &#8220;We alleged that close to 200,000 Georgians who properly registered to vote were illegally or improperly stricken from the rolls. We filed an injunction because of the injustice of having so many disenfranchised voters when faced with an upcoming runoff election. Plaintiffs believe that everyone who properly registered in the <span class=\"xn-location\">State of Georgia<\/span> should be allowed to vote. Period.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoffler is an <span class=\"xn-location\">Atlanta<\/span> attorney who argued on behalf of Plaintiffs along with <span class=\"xn-location\">New York<\/span> Attorney <span class=\"xn-person\">Jeanne Mirer<\/span> at last Thursday&#8217;s federal hearing. Hoffler is Chair of Rainbow Push Coalition and President of the National Bar Association.<\/p>\n<p>Plaintiffs&#8217; Counsel <span class=\"xn-person\">Gerald Griggs<\/span> of <span class=\"xn-location\">Atlanta<\/span> added, &#8220;We understood by asking for an injunction that this was a heavy lift for the Court, but given what was at stake, the right to vote without suppression in the <span class=\"xn-location\">State of Georgia<\/span>, the Plaintiffs moved forward. The Court did state that\u00a0<i>&#8216;Plaintiffs have shown that <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgia&#8217;s<\/span> list maintenance process may not be accurate in identifying voters who have actually moved.&#8217;<\/i>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Griggs is a well-known civil and human rights attorney who along with his partner Maria Banjo worked tirelessly on this case.<\/p>\n<p>Reverend <span class=\"xn-person\">Jesse Jackson<\/span>, President and CEO of Rainbow Push Coalition, said, &#8220;The attorneys and plaintiffs have provided all the data evidencing improper voting purges to the Secretary of State, so if the Secretary of State does not address these discrepancies immediately, then he is engaging in intentional and deliberate voter suppression against <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgia<\/span> voters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (SVREP) is also a Plaintiff in this case. SVREP President <span class=\"xn-person\">Lydia Camarillo<\/span> reiterated, &#8220;The litigation continues as the Plaintiffs continue to fight for justice to allow <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgia<\/span> voters who properly registered and did not move, to vote!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>SVREP reached out to over 26,000 Latino voters in <span class=\"xn-location\">Georgia<\/span> upon discovering the improper voter purges.<\/p>\n<p>President and Founder of Transformative Justice Coalition Barbara Arnwine testified at trial: &#8220;I&#8217;ve been an advocate of voter equality, civil rights and election protection for over 40 years as a lawyer. I have not seen this level of voter suppression in many years. It is simply a travesty.
