KINGSTON, Jamaica, July 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — A recent report from AP News shows that a lot of major non-essential retailers worldwide have been affected by COVID-19. According to Neil Saunders, Managing Director of GlobalData Retail, more than 190,000 stores have temporarily closed, accounting for nearly 50% of U.S. retail square footage. At the same time, Swedish fashion retailer H&M also implied that after temporarily closing 3,441 of its 5,062 stores globally, it may be forced to lay off some employees permanently. How to survive during the pandemic and take effective prevention and control measures after work resumption has become a major consideration for retailers across the globe.

In response to the challenges facing the retail industry, Dahua Technology, a world-leading video-centric smart IoT solution and service provider, has launched a professional Retail Epidemic Safety Protection Solution to help retailers maintain safe operations and improve business efficiency during the pandemic, as well as providing upgraded plans to increase ROI after business resumption.

Featuring thermal body temperature monitoring and customer flow control, the Dahua Retail Epidemic Safety Protection Solution combines two technological advantages enabled by AI to provide double value for retailers, assisting in slowing the spread of the virus while creating a safe in-store shopping experience for customers.

The Dahua thermal body temperature monitoring camera allows highly accurate body temperature monitoring of ±0.3℃ (with blackbody). With built-in AI algorithm, it can simultaneously monitor a group of people from up to 3-meter distance, enabling fast and non-contact access. When installed at the entrances of supermarkets and shopping malls, it can help retailers with preliminary screening of employees and customers with abnormal body temperature. It notifies users to take corresponding measures before the temperatures change significantly, thereby enabling the appropriate protocol and conducting a second verification by medical professionals if necessary.

For retailers who require limited customer flow during the pandemic, the Dahua AI-empowered people counting camera can automatically and accurately calculate the real-time number of people entering the store, avoiding congestion and helping to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. When the number of shoppers exceeds the set value, the device will alarm and will display on the digital signage at the entrance of the store that the number of people inside is full, reminding customers to wait at the door. No extra employees are needed to count customers manually at the door, which can help retailers reduce labor costs and improve their management efficiency.

Unfortunately, one in five children in the U.S. lives in poverty, and families are struggling to put food on the table because of pandemic-related job losses. For many, school supplies are simply too much.

That’s why L.A. Care Health Plan and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan are holding seven Back-to-School Drive-Thru events through their Community Resource Centers network. Three of the events will be combined with food pantries.

«As we approach the new school year, we anticipate challenges will continue as children face an extended distance learning period,» said Francisco Oaxaca, Chief of Communications and Community Relations, L.A. At each of the seven drive-thru events, the health plans will distribute 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, and local nonprofit Access Books will distribute 100 tote bags stuffed with three children’s books featuring positive, uplifting stories to help young readers cope with the stresses caused by the pandemic.

«Regardless of what returning to school may look like this year, we know students will need the necessary materials to succeed,» said Kellie Todd Griffin, Senior Director, Community and Provider Engagement, Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan. «Many families are in need during this difficult time, and we are committed to be a resource by providing backpacks, filled with essential school supplies, to help alleviate additional burdens as they prepare for the start of the school year.»

Care and Blue Shield Promise announced a combined investment of $146 million dollars as part of a five-year commitment to expand Community Resource Centers across Los Angeles County. This unique collaboration will help improve health outcomes in local communities and the total quality of life for members of the two health plans. Each center will connect members from both plans and the Los Angeles community to classes and personalized services that will address social needs and keep them active, healthy and informed.

The Back-to-School events are an extension of that goal. Four events will be hosted by the health plans’ jointly operated Community Resource Centers, and three will be hosted by L.A. Care Family Resource Centers. Below are the dates and locations for the Back-to-School Drive-Thru events:

TRENDS INFLUENCING THE HEAD-UP DISPLAY MARKET SIZE

The demand from the automotive vertical and the increasing opportunities for growth in the wearables sector are driving the growth of the Head Up Display Market size.

Initially, traditional head-up displays were designed for aviation and military applications. However, they are widely used in automotive applications. The major factors responsible for this growth of head up display market size are increased adoption by OEMs in display technology, reduced installation costs of head-up display systems, and increased importance given to vehicle and passenger safety systems.

Conventional HUDs are used as a secondary display device in automobiles to provide the driver with information on navigation routes, vehicle direction, fuel indication, lane-departure alert, and traffic information. HUDs power the demand from the automotive segment with enhanced benefits such as monochrome, 4-color monitor, night vision, high contrast, and color-rich virtual images. These new features are expected to fuel the HUD adoption and thereby increase the Head Up Display Market size.

Artificial Intelligence is being introduced by the use of a cloud terminal in the Heads-up Display. AI works as a driver’s digital assistant observing the driver’s preferences at various times of the day and week and automatically scheduling the entertainment, navigation and other details needed at the appropriate time. This incorporation of AI in HUD is expected to increase the Head Up Display Market size.

The autopilot market is expected to grow at the fastest CAGR.

The introduction of autopilot would minimize driver intervention. As autonomous technology nears Level 3 & above, it would help achieve the automaker’s goals of commercializing fully autonomous vehicles for consumers by 2022. For instance, the upcoming model of the Cadillac CT6 will be equipped with the semi-autonomous «Super Cruise» feature that will essentially allow fully autonomous single-lane travel on divided highways.

Similarly, Audi will also be including its Level 3 semi-autonomous technology in the upcoming model of the A8. Audi’s AI-based traffic jam pilot would enable highly automated driving at Level 3. With all the developments in autopilot or autonomous driving field, the demand for connected services related to autopilot is expected to rise in the coming future.

Embedded connectivity is expected to grow at the fastest CAGR in the global connected car market.

The growth in embedded technology is being driven by regulatory mandates in the EU, which recently mandated that all new car models in member states must have embedded technology as part of its European eCall system, connecting a vehicle to emergency services, following a collision and providing location and impact information. Similar mandates could be announced by other countries in the future. The growth of embedded form of connected solutions in the long term is attributed to various disruptive factors such as government mandates, cost optimization of service plans, and increase in cloud-based services. By 2025, embedded form of connectivity is estimated to dominate the market.

Asia Pacific is expected to lead the global connected car market during the forecast period.

One of the key drivers for the Asia Pacific market is the increased demand for infotainment and navigation services, particularly in China, Japan, India, and South Korea. The tech-savvy population in these countries demands a better and connected driving experience. The demand for connected cars in Asia Pacific is driven significantly by the strong economic growth, growing population, and rapid urbanization. As safety regulations have been made in Japan and South Korea, the connected car market in these countries is anticipated to increase in coming years.

In 2017, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) issued a draft to establish national standards for China’s Intelligent & Connected Vehicles (ICV). Due to the growing population and vehicle demand, China is expected to introduce vehicle and road safety regulations. Baidu and Alibaba, which are biggest technology companies in China are pushing to develop platforms for connected cars.

Japanese automotive companies are also inventing and implementing connected car services and solutions. In 2019, Airbiquity announced that it became a member of the Japan Automotive Software Platform and Architecture (JASPAR), an organization dedicated to advancing the standardization of in-vehicle software and networks to enhance development efficiency and reliability.

The globally connected car market is dominated by major players such as Continental (Germany), Bosch (Germany), HARMAN (US), Airbiquity (US), and Visteon (US).
