AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ —

  • Observance to run October 11-25 as part of a month-long recognition of LGBTQ history
  • Workshops for employees will include tributes to current and historical LGBTQ figures from Michigan and the LGBTQ movement
  • Tribute builds on company’s longstanding support of LGBTQ employees, communities and issues

FCA, in honor and support of its LGBTQ employees, communities and issues, will light the 960-square-foot glass Pentastar on top of its 15-story tower purple October 11-25 in observance of LGBTQ history, National Coming Out Day and National Spirit Day.

As part of the tribute, the company will fly a rainbow flag outside of its Auburn Hills, Michigan, complex and many of its 22 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. FCA will conduct a month-long series of informational programming for employees that includes tributes to current and historical LGBTQ figures from Michigan and the LGBTQ movement.

The nearly month-long observance builds on the company’s long-standing support of LGBTQ employees, communities and issues. For example, FCA recently expanded its award-winning supplier diversity program to include certified LGBTQ-owned businesses.

«FCA is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive business environment in which all people and ideas are welcomed, appreciated and respected,» said Mark Chernoby, Chief Technical Compliance Officer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance, FCA – North America, and Executive Sponsor of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) Business Resource Group at FCA. «Our diverse business culture represents different people and ideas that engage collaboratively to create brands and products that make us attractive in the marketplace, and support and sustain our success.»

National Coming Out Day is observed internationally on October 11 to celebrate coming out and to raise awareness of the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ civil rights movement. The day commemorates the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for lesbian and gay rights and is aligned with the company’s efforts to promote diversity and respect in the workplace.

National Spirit Day is an annual LGBTQ awareness day observed on the third Thursday in October, promoting LGBTQ youth and honoring LGBTQ victims of suicide.

«On behalf of the members of GALA at FCA, we are proud to work for a company that shows us so much support and respect,» said Greg Hawkins, Chair of GALA. «Because of this support, we work in a culture that allows any employee to be as out and honest about their lives as possible.»

As part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, FCA supports 10 business resource groups (BRGs) whose objectives include promoting a positive awareness of diverse people and issues within the company and ensuring that the company’s products meet the expectations of diverse customers.

FCA BRGs represent a range of affinity communities that include African ancestry, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, women, Middle Eastern, disability, veteran, working parents and LGBTQ.

These employee-directed groups work to foster greater multi-cultural understanding among employees, career development of members and engagement with diverse communities.

Texas Association of Realtors logo.

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — International home sales added $6.6 billion to the Texas economy from April 2019 to March 2020, according to the Texas International Homebuyers Report released today by Texas Realtors.

Texas was third in the nation for homes sold to international buyers, behind Florida and California. Texas accounted for 9% of all homes purchased by international homebuyers in the United States, with 13,860 home sales out of 154,000 nationwide. The U.S. saw a 16% decline in the number of foreign buyer purchases compared to the last reporting period.

«Texas continues to enjoy strong international real estate sales activity. From relocations to commercial or residential, foreign buyers choose Texas because of our resilient economy, job availability, investment opportunities and friendly business climate,» said Cindi Bulla, chairman of Texas Realtors. «Despite the slight drop in foreign buyers compared to the previous reporting period, Texas remained a top state for international buyers, particularly those coming from Latin America

Forty-two percent of Texas buyers came from Latin America/Caribbean. Texas was also a top destination for international homebuyers from Mexico and Brazil. Of all homebuyers from Mexico, 28% purchased a home in Texas. The next closest state, California, had 14% of the total homebuyers from Mexico. Among buyers from Brazil, 12% chose Texas, tying with Minnesota at second place and behind first-place Florida, with 49%. Texas accounted for 9.5% of new immigration in the United States in 2018.

Six Texas metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) were among the top destinations for immigration in the country. Two Texas MSAs were among the top 10, with HoustonThe WoodlandsSugar Land as the fifth-most popular U.S. market, followed by Dallas-Fort WorthArlington at number nine.

Texas also ranked third in the nation for home sales from international homeowners, behind Florida and California. Eight percent of homes sales in Texas were from international homeowners.

On the commercial side of international real estate transactions, Texas was the third-most popular destination for buyers who work with Realtors, according to the 2020 Commercial Real Estate International Business Trends report from the National Association of Realtors.

Bulla concluded, «While the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic combined with residential inventory challenges caused a slowdown from the record highs of 2019, we remain confident in a rapid rebound. Our state’s strong economy and attractive investment opportunities will continue to spur interest from international investors for years to come. Texas REALTORS® are always hard at work to make sure of it.»

For travelers looking to take their Turkey Day festivities out West, sister vacation club, WorldMark by Wyndham, will also supply the quar-nucopia package to families who stay for two weeks before the big meal in a one-bedroom suite starting at $2,590 at WorldMark Pinetop in Pinetop, AZ.
