TROY, Mich., Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — As a result of the digital transformation, industrial companies are increasingly facing the challenge of integrating new projects with unknown cost variables over specific terms into a cost estimate and quotation costing.

FACTON, manufacturer of the Enterprise Product Costing (EPC) Suite, provides with its new EPC solution Project and Service Calculation an application for the reliable calculation of development costs as well as costs for intangible goods such as software, service, and maintenance services. With calculations of project and service costs that are globally available, the costs, key performance indicators and risks of a project are transparent at all times. Real-time calculation over the project life cycle offers a competitive advantage.

«Our EPC solution for Project and Service Calculation addresses the challenges of digital transformation with planning reliability and quicker response times. Whether cloud-based services, MRO costs or pure software development, by using FACTON EPC every project and every service can be carefully planned from the beginning as well as controlled and optimized over its lifetime,» says Alexander M. Swoboda, CEO of FACTON.

Users of the EPC software are able to create preliminary calculations in the early phase of product development and in series support using a freely definable project structure, so-called work breakdown structure, as well as over the entire term. Development costs can be taken into account at an early stage in project calculation and quotation preparation. As a result, response times in tenders are significantly shortened. The enterprise solution extends the existing IT landscape and guarantees reliable cost planning with the greatest possible transparency.

Advantages and functions at a glance:

  • Flexibility in costing through freely definable project structures, so-called work breakdown structures, in which several cost items can be gathered and evaluated for each element.
  • Reliable cost evaluation based on expenses as well as allocation rates of the executing cost center of a location or via simple estimation procedures.
  • Increased reliability in determining expenditures by using a three-point estimate to provide the best, most likely, and worst-case estimate.
  • Rapid identification of risks through targeted risk assessment as well as documentation of uncertainties along the project structure.
  • Quality assurance with an automated assessment of calculation-based quality based on risk assessment, complexity level and confidence level, among other things.
  • Flexible planning of large projects or projects with different areas of competence and responsibility by working in subprojects.
  • Easy administration of master data centrally in the application or by import from complementary solutions such as ERP systems.

FACTON (http://www.facton.com) – The FACTON EPC Suite is the leading Enterprise Product Costing (EPC) solution for the automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering, and electronics industries. Its specific solutions offer robust answers to the requirements of executive management and individual departments within the enterprise. MARKHAM, Ontario, Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — To help its clients better navigate the new normal, Maestro has embarked on a training initiative that is helping hoteliers adapt to change and meet the demands of today’s vigilant travelers. The provider of cloud and on premises property-management systems to independent and luxury resorts, conference centers, vacation rentals, and multi-property groups is offering a Training Services Package that gives Maestro users the opportunity to experience the full power of its Browser and Windows Version 5.5 PMS that rolled out across its portfolio in 2020.

Maestro Version 5.5 features the latest mobile and contactless software tools and offers security enhancements to better manage the challenges Maestro users are facing entering the new year. The enhanced solution includes:

  • A curbside check-in tool utilizing mobile tablet devices to streamline registration and socially distance staff from guests, and guests from each other;
  • A web/mobile/kiosk/iPad self-check-in module with mobile key integration, express mobile check-out, digital registration card with signature capture, mobile spa provider schedule, mobile intake and waiver forms, and eSignature document management to limit staff interaction with guests and remove high-touch physical documents;
  • A mobile housekeeping app that protects staff by controlling the availability of rooms and setting a configurable 48-hour time gap between the time a guest departs and the next guest arrives;
  • Mobile payment integration;
  • Mobile task management; and
  • A Guest Engagement Measurement (GEM) tool that provides access to relevant guest feedback, intelligence, and insights to encourage operational excellence, meaningful differentiation, and a sustainable competitive advantage.

«Daily we are seeing more and more hotels sign up for this exciting reassurance project,» said Wendy Paul, Maestro Training Services Manager. «Today 100% of our portfolio is using Maestro Version 5.5, and it’s packed with a lot of robust tools that operators have not experienced before. No feature should be overlooked; each is vital to the operational success of hotels today. As properties continue to prepare for travel to return to pre-COVID-19 demand — and as many of our healthy clients begin adding properties to their portfolios — this barrier-free, remote training initiative will equip hoteliers with everything needed to be competitive, meet the contactless demands of travelers, and emerge stronger than before.»

Training Incentives
To ensure that everyone is leveraging V5.5 to its fullest, Maestro is offering one free contactless mobile tool for one property when one day of training is purchased by the hotel. Operators wanting more training can buy a two-day package and receive a complimentary audit of their front desk configuration to maximize productivity or they can add a third day of training at no cost. Those seeking three days of training will receive the complimentary audit, plus the free contactless mobile tool and a 4th day of training at no cost. Maestro users can choose from one of the following free contactless mobile tools, with installation and set-up included: Digital Signature Capture Reg Card, WebPro Pre-Check In, Mobile Housekeeping, or Express Mobile Check Out.

«Most of our clients are opting for the two-day online training package and choosing a free contactless mobile tool,» Paul said. «Each of the four offerings are proving to be attractive incentives, as more and more of our clients know and understand the importance that contactless technology brings to their hotels today. Based on the popularity of this program, we are considering extending it for another 30 days.»

Maestro President Warren Dehan said that providing re-opening assistance to Maestro clients is the company’s top priority. The goal through this training initiative, he said, is three-fold: «First, we want to see if our clients are optimizing Maestro to its fullest potential (which modules and/or features are they using successfully, and which do they need more orientation on and best practices recommendations),» Dehan said. «Second, we want to make sure that hoteliers are aware of the many powerful mobile and contactless add-ons available through Maestro that support the services that today’s travelers are demanding. Third, we want to use the training forum as an opportunity to continue the dialogue with our clients and learn what else we can do to better support them through reopening and beyond. Some operators have questions about onboarding new employees while others want to learn more about mobile payment integration or mobile housekeeping that protects staff by reducing contact with others. Some want options to transition to our full Web browser version of Maestro and host in the cloud. No matter what their questions are, we want to give everyone the reassurances they need that Maestro is here for them today and with them for the future.»

Boiling Springs starts commercial operation as RWE U.S. first onshore wind farm in Oklahoma

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

Silvia Ortin, COO Onshore Wind and Solar PV Americas, RWE Renewables: «Under very challenging conditions, our teams have delivered this project with outstanding dedication to our business goals while continuing to prioritize health and safety. This milestone, of our 26th onshore wind farm in the U.S., further proves our track record in the development, construction and operation of high-quality generation assets in North America—one of our focus markets.»

The RWE Renewables portfolio in North America continues to expand as Boiling Springs, a 148-megawatt (MW) project, located in Woodward County, Okla., has achieved commercial operation. The facility is RWE’s first project in Oklahoma and in the Southwest Power Pool.

It is powered by 60 GE turbines, a mix of GE127-2.82 MW and GE 116-2.3 MW generators. Boiling Springs came online in late December after posting an impressive work safety record of no lost time incidents.

«After several years of development, we are thrilled to see this project fully operational in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), a new market for us,» said Silvia Ortin, Chief Operating Officer North America. «SPP is a highly-attractive market with considerable potential for working with new customers in the corporate, industrial and utility segments. As always, we appreciate the local support from the community and our landowners to help us bring Boiling Springs from development through construction and now to successful operation.»

RWE announced, in September 2019, Boiling Springs signed an agreement with American Honda Motor Co., Inc., for offtake as part of one of the largest-ever renewable energy purchases by the automotive industry. Under the terms of the Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA), Honda has contracted for 120 MW of the power and renewable attributes from the 148 MW Boiling Springs Wind Farm.

North America is one of the focus markets of RWE, with a strong development pipeline in the renewables business. The installed capacity in the U.S. accounts for more than one third of the Group´s renewables capacity. As one of the largest renewables players worldwide RWE plans a net global investment of €5 billion from 2020 through 2022. Project partnerships have the potential to increase this expenditure considerably to € 8 – 9 billion.

RWE constructs, owns and operates some of the highest performing wind, solar and energy storage projects in the U.S. As an established leader in renewables, RWE has recently entered into a joint venture, New England Aqua Ventus, focused on floating offshore wind in the state of Maine.

The agreement with Emirates Smart Solutions & Technologies (ESST) is expected to expand to a large-scale multi-million dollar partnership

RA’ANANA, Israel, Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Vertical Field an Israeli ag-tech company specializing in vertical farming, has signed an agreement with Emirates Smart Solutions & Technologies (ESST) a company that develops innovative agricultural projects in the Persian Gulf, to deploy pilot vertical farms as a first stage to full-scale deployments in the United Arab Emirates.

Vertical Field develops vertical agricultural farms that enable crops to grow in the city. Vertical Field’s unique technology enables produce to grow on a bed of soil (geoponically) inside of repurposed shipping containers. Vertical Field’s advanced technologies enable high-quality crops to grow quickly and efficiently in optimum conditions without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. These customizable urban farms can grow a range of fresh crops for supermarkets, restaurants, urban farmer’s markets, and distribution centers. Vertical Field’s technology is more efficient and less wasteful than conventional agricultural methods, using 90% less water, and growing precise quantities of produce in a controlled environment.

Produce inside Vertical Field’s containers can therefore grow 365 days a year, are not limited to seasonality constraints, weather conditions, extreme climate events, or geographic location. The farms are modular, expandable, and moveable, and can be managed automatically. Produce is grown in a sterile container with minimal human interference. Crops that are currently grown in the farm include: several varieties of lettuce, basil, parsley, kale, mint, and more, which are sold at competitive prices.

Within the framework of the UAE agreement, Vertical Field will conduct a pilot project that will ascertain the most suitable crops for the local market. The project will be conducted with the professional support and oversight of the Company’s Israeli agronomists. The vertical farm is designed to provide local and on-site produce that is free of chemical pesticides and fertilizers for both commercial establishments as well as the private sector. The first stage of the project will be launched in the United Arab Emirates, and is expected to expand into a multimillion dollar partnership that will include deployments in additional states of the Gulf region.

The first farm will be installed in Umm Al Quwain as part of a research, development, and training center, which is expected to support additional projects in the rest of the Gulf states.

According to the market research firm Markets and Markets, in 2020, the vertical farming industry reached $2.9 billion and is expected to reach $7.3 billion by 2025. Approximately 80% of the agricultural consumption in the Emirates is imported from around the world, equivalent to over $10 billion (2018). The rising costs of shipping food as well as an increased desire for food security and regional independence has played a strong role in the development of the ESST-Vertical Field partnership.

Guy Elitzur, CEO of Vertical Field said: «This collaborative project is a first-of-its-kind partnership that offers Vertical Field’s innovative agricultural technologies to the Emirates and the Gulf Region. The Makalde Group brings forty years of experience and wide knowledge in the field of agricultural inputs and resources and we bring the innovative technology. Arid desert regions face many challenges surrounding the production of high-quality agricultural produce at low prices. With the help of various agricultural technologies and new developments we believe that we can successfully align the demands of the market with competitive prices without compromising quality- and most importantly with increased access and availability.

Maher Makalde, CEO and Partner of ESST said: «We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Vertical Field and bring advanced Israeli vertical technology that enables the growth of produce in a controlled and predictable way, overcoming harsh outdoor climate conditions, and enabling reliable, high-quality, and pesticide-free produce year-round. Our goal is to establish food security that is independent of imports and to develop a high-quality agricultural infrastructure that reaches the retail market.»

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Spanish educator Laura Zayas, M. Ed. (http://spanish-4-you.com/) recently announced that she had begun offering tailormade, premium Spanish lessons to an exclusive clientele via Zoom. Utilizing a proven full-immersion approach, Laura built the new curriculum to appeal to clients who understand a great Spanish education is about quality rather than quantity. Educated at UCLA, Laura is the founder of the popular education website Spanish-4-You.com and has been an accomplished teacher for decades, offering fast-learning approaches with solid, measurable results in language fluency and competence.

Regarding registration and class structure, Laura said: «One of the most important aspects to beginning Spanish-language education – an aspect that gets overlooked time and time again – is student preplanning and placement. This is crucial to effective learning in so many ways. I am one of the very few practicing language teachers who has created a thorough questionnaire and placement test for my students. It allows me to seat them exactly where they need to be within a multi-level curriculum, so we can maximize their learning experience and fun. After first carefully analyzing their answers and the placement test, I create a plan of action that I share with my students ahead of time. So you’ll always start with clear expectations and a solid roadmap of where you need to go.»

Speaking to her exclusive curriculum and the class experience, Laura noted: «Every experience is different, because I tailor sessions to each individual student. And since every student has a different learning style they prefer, I adapt the lessons to meet specific needs and student interests. I take an active interest in my students’ lives, offering them Spanish lessons that are centered on what they want and what they’re doing. Are you learning Spanish for school? For fun? For a job? To broaden your horizons, or to level-up your qualifications? These are all very different reasons to be in a classroom, and it alters the students’ educational needs in nuanced but important ways. Students often tell me that my lessons are highly addictive and that they look forward to coming back for more – most of my students stay around for two years or longer. Students learn best when they’re having a good time and learning something that is relevant to their daily lives. And those are my primary goals.»

For those looking to deepen their Spanish education, or are curious about Laura’s unique approach, signups are available for the questionnaire and placement test. Laura will professionally assess the results and share them via a complimentary 30-minute Zoom session.
