GROW consists of a design-based light recipe which shines vertically across 20,000m2 of farmland with leek (Allium porrum). En 2020, el principal mercado de obras de arte del mundo se encontraba en el epicentro de los daños originados por la pandemia de la covid, y el programa de subastas de la ciudad, cuidadosamente estructurado, se vio completamente alterado. Tras la caída de ingresos provocada por la cancelación de las ventas de mayo, las principales casas de subastas se centraron en las ventas online, pero el mercado de alta gama luchó por ponerse al día durante la segunda parte del año.

En mayo de 2019, la Gran Manzana alcanzó 2.200 millones de dólares en subastas gracias a ocho obras cuyas ventas superaron los 50 millones de dólares entre el 13 y el 16 de mayo: Monet (110 millones de dólares), Koons (91 millones), Rauschenberg (88 millones), Cézanne (59 millones), Picasso (55 millones), Warhol (53 millones), Bacon (50 millones) y Rothko (50 millones). La diversidad de estas obras maestras, creadas entre finales del siglo XIX y el periodo de posguerra, ilustra el atractivo de Nueva York como mercado de obras de arte.

En mayo de 2020, sin embargo, las subastas (que sólo se realizaban online) totalizaron sólo 39 millones de dólares en Manhattan, es decir, sólo un 2% del total alcanzado en el mayo anterior. Según los datos de Artprice, este total fue generado por 1.400 lotes de obras que se vendieron por promedio de 28.000 dólares.

En comparación con el período del año anterior, las ventas de arte de Nueva York durante el primer semestre de 2020 terminaron con un descenso del -54%. Esta importante caída se vio parcialmente compensada cuando las principales casas de subastas decidieron celebrar varias sesiones de prestigio en octubre, adelantando parte de las prestigiosas ventas de noviembre.

Recuperación de la confianza

Afortunadamente el panorama es positivo: la confianza ha vuelto gradualmente al mercado del arte a nivel internacional. El AMCI (índice de confianza del Mercado del Arte) de Artprice subió durante noviembre y diciembre. Tanto es así que a principios de 2021 dos tercios de los profesionales del mercado del arte han declarado tener «grandes intenciones» de adquirir nuevas obras.

No cabe duda de que la obra maestra de Botticelli que ofrecerá Sotheby’s el 28 de enero de 2021 en Nueva York ha captado la atención de los principales compradores y entusiastas del arte de todo el planeta.

Bakeman also said that personal travelers who had been curious about jet charter took the plunge and booked with RAI Jets, spurred on by safety concerns from the pandemic. In response, RAI has added another pilot to their roster of nine, as well as another maintenance technician.

RAI Jets is also considering additional jet acquisitions to their fleet in 2021 and scouting locations for a potential third hangar. The company currently maintains their original 10,000 square foot hangar at Kirsch Municipal Airport in Sturgis, Michigan (KIRS) and their current 24,000 square feet of hangar space (with 6,000 square feet of office space) at the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek (KAZO).
