MIAMI, Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world’s largest cruise company, today announced it has been named a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award winner, recognizing the company as one of the Best Places to Work in 2021.

Presented by Glassdoor, a worldwide leader on insights about jobs and companies, the listing of the best 100 U.S. places to work honors the 2021 winners of the Glassdoor Employee’s Choice Awards. The annual awards are based solely on employee feedback that was shared anonymously on Glassdoor over the previous year. In the award program’s 13th year, Carnival Corporation ranked No. 58 overall among the 100 top U.S. large companies with at least 1,000 employees.

«The success of our company and nine global cruise line brands is a direct result of the commitment of our talented and passionate employees who are dedicated to consistently exceeding the expectations of our guests,» said Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corporation. «As a company, our highest responsibility and top priorities are compliance, environmental protection and the health, safety and well-being of our guests, the people in the communities we visit, and our crew and shoreside employees. On this foundation, we are committed to a positive, diverse and inclusive culture, and make it a priority to provide a supportive work environment operating with integrity, trust and respect for each other. This recognition underscores that commitment, and we are honored to be recognized as a best place to work for all of our employees.»

The listing of the Best Places to Work was determined using company reviews from U.S.-based employees between October 2019 and October 2020 who elected to share anonymous feedback by completing a review about their job, work environment and employer on Glassdoor. In order to be considered for the annual list, employers were required to meet a minimum positive score for overall company rating on Glassdoor and meet a minimum number of ratings in eight separate workplace categories.

Based on feedback shared during the year-long period, the final list of 100 employers was compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary awards algorithm, and employer ratings were determined based on the quantity, quality and consistency of reviews across workplace attributes including career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management, work-life balance, likelihood to recommend the employer to a friend and the six-month business outlook.

The ranking as a Glassdoor Best Place to Work is the most recent in a series of recognitions earned by Carnival Corporation, including honors in 2020 from Forbes based on the publication’s annual listings of America’s Best Employers for Diversity and America’s Best Employers for Women. Most recently, the company was recognized for its commitment to corporate social responsibility leadership by Newsweek on its second annual list of America’s Most Responsible Companies, in addition to being named to 3BL Media’s listing of 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2020.

Li-Cycle Wins 2021 BIG Innovation Award

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Li-Cycle Corp. (Li-Cycle), North America’s largest lithium-ion battery recycling company, today announced it has been named a winner of a 2021 BIG Innovation Award presented by the Business Intelligence…

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Li-Cycle Corp. (Li-Cycle), North America’s largest lithium-ion battery recycling company, today announced it has been named a winner of a 2021 BIG Innovation Award presented by the Business Intelligence Group.

«More than ever, the global society relies on innovation to help progress humanity and make our lives more productive, healthy and comfortable,» said Maria Jimenez, chief operating officer of the Business Intelligence Group. «We are thrilled to be honouring Li-Cycle as they are one of the organizations leading this charge and helping humanity progress.»

From across the globe, numerous organizations submitted their recent innovations for consideration in the BIG Innovation Awards. Nominations were then judged by a select group of business leaders and executives who volunteer their time and expertise to score submissions.

«It’s very exciting to have Li-Cycle’s Spoke & Hub Technology recognized, and to receive this 2021 BIG Innovation Award,» said Li-Cycle CEO Ajay Kochhar. «This is an award that highlights the value in our solution toward making end-of-life batteries a resource and not a waste – we’re honoured to be recognized for that. Our goal is to keep working to achieve a truly closed-loop system within the lithium-ion battery supply chain.»

Li-Cycle is on a mission to leverage its innovative solutions to address an emerging and urgent global challenge. Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are increasingly powering our world in industrial energy storage, automotive, and consumer electronic applications. The world needs improved technology and supply chain innovations to better recycle these batteries, while also meeting the rapidly growing demand for critical, finite battery materials.

According to the Circular Energy Storage’s (CES) recent studies, over 2 million tonnes per year of lithium-ion batteries are forecasted to reach their end-of-life globally by 2030. By 2040, an estimated 559 million electric vehicles will be on the road worldwide. The capacity of global lithium-ion battery energy storage installations is projected to skyrocket over 50 times during that same period. Given this significant growth in the lithium-ion battery market, safe and sustainable solutions are required for the end-of-life of these batteries.

Li-Cycle’s Spoke & Hub Technologies – a low cost, safe, and environmentally friendly process – recycles all types of lithium-ion batteries, with an unparalleled recovery rate of ≥95% of all battery-grade materials found in Li-ion batteries, including lithium, cobalt, and nickel.

The company was also named to the World Circular Economy Forum’s list of Circular Economy Solutions Inspiring the World, a 2020 and 2021 Global Cleantech 100 Company by the Cleantech Group and a finalist in the in the 10th Annual BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.

About Li-Cycle Corp.

Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are increasingly powering our world in automotive, energy storage, consumer electronics, and other industrial and household applications. The world needs improved technology and supply chain innovations to better manage the end-of-life of these batteries – and to meet the rapidly growing demand for critical and scarce battery-grade materials through a closed-loop solution.

CLEVELAND, Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Premalux, a manufacturer and supplier of high-performance aqueous (water-based) cleaning solutions, is welcoming the 2021 New Year with additions to its environmentally friendly industrial cleaning products and services.  New products include:

  • A disposable premoistened industrial Multi-Purpose Towel is premiering within the first quarter. It replaces our SIHW 0075 product currently unavailable. The need for PPE and supply-chain interruptions made our popular work towels impossible to supply. After much looking, we found a towel to take its place. The new towel is stronger, thicker, and tougher, and will be available in an 85-count canister (10 more towels than the current SIHW 0075) Go to https://www.surgeindustrial.com/newtowel to learn more about the product. Sign up to receive notification of product availability.
  • Premalux’s Surge Industrial HVAC Coil Cleaner is now available. The water-based solution easily removes dirt, grease, grime, bugs and other particulates from outdoor evaporators and condensers – while being safe for people and the environment. It has already drawn favorable reviews from HVAC professionals. One company testing the product wrote, «The technician who tested the product has done many coil cleanings over the years and said the product was very effective, without the negative side effects (skin burns) he normally has with standard coil cleaning products.» Independent lab tests show the neutral pH product is safe for surrounding items, including roofs, plants, machinery, plastics, and rubberized materials. View the product here.
  • Surge Industrial Aircraft cleaner is available now and gaining popularity. The water -based cleaner degreaser is effective in removing dirt, grease, insects and residue from aircraft exteriors – from the windshield, the body, down to the landing gear. The biodegradable product meets Boeing D6-17487 Rev T; Douglas CSD #1, Type I; AMS 1526C; and Airbus AIMS 09-00-002 specifications. It also performs extremely well for general cleaning applications of large and small parts, and metalworking. View the particulars here.

As a recipient of The Ohio PPE Retooling & Reshoring Grant Program, Premalux will have the ability to manufacture its own line of gel hand sanitizer. The grant allows Premalux to upgrade its facility to allow the mixing and bottling of this and other higher viscosity products. The build out is currently under way with the goal of manufacturing new gel hand sanitizer the second quarter of 2021.

Premalux is expanding services and capabilities within its toll blending, custom manufacturing, and private label offerings through its subsidiary Accublends LLC – a full-service toll blender and contract manufacturer of high-performance aqueous solutions. Plastic Oceans International Launches BlueCommunities Initiative

MALIBU, Calif., Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Plastic Oceans International announces the launch of BlueCommunities, a global initiative that establishes collaborative partnerships with local communities and organizations, supporting projects that can inspire change worldwide.

With startup funding provided by Howden Group Holdings, this new initiative launches in six communities: Alappuzah, India; Campeche, Mexico; Chiloe Island, Chile; Detroit, USA; Easter Island (part of Chile); and Durban, South Africa – with Santa Marta, Colombia, and Douala, Cameroon, coming on board around February 1.

«We believe that localized efforts and relationships are the building blocks for creating socioeconomic and environmental change that benefits the entire planet,» said Julie Andersen, CEO of Plastic Oceans International. «Working locally has always been at the core of what we do, but this provides a more focused and effective way of doing so, allowing for a broader impact of the work being done.»

A BlueCommunity is a shared geographic region of any kind or size (village, town, city, province), but one whose local culture and economy are driven by the waterways they inhabit – whether it’s an ocean, sea, lake or river. Plastic Oceans seeks out local partners that already have existing socio-environmental programs that are making a difference with their citizens.

«We don’t look to come in and impose our projects and way of doing things,» said Tod Hardin, Chief Operating Officer of Plastic Oceans International. «Instead, we want to enhance what’s already working. As the old saying goes, don’t try to fix what isn’t broken. For us, it’s instead about learning from our partners and using our global resources and experience to create a larger impact and give these local efforts a worldwide voice.»

In addition to offering mini grants, guidance and various other resources, a major value to BlueCommunities is connecting like-minded organizations. It’s an opportunity to share ideas, support one another, learn from each other and to give local projects a chance to impact communities beyond their own. This was never more evident than in the success of the pilot program in Campeche, Mexico.

Jon Bonfiglio, of partner organization Ninth Wave Global, in Campeche, offered these thoughts: «The joy – and a meaningful joy it is – of Blue Communities is that it reminds us that we are not alone in this. That we have brothers and sisters across the water who have our backs, and that we have theirs; that we are many, that we are strong, and that together we can make a difference.»

Plastic Oceans International has an ambitious goal of onboarding over 250 communities and 1,000 members by the end of 2022, which they believe will be able to impact at least 10,000,000 people around the world. Although membership has no cost, there is an evaluation process for those that wish to join. For more information, please visit PlasticOceans.org/BlueCommunities.

We operate with the belief that we can and must act locally in order to create change globally, and we do so through four program areas: Education, Activism, Advocacy and Science. Climate change may be controversial in some circles, but that doesn’t change the fact that environmental management and sustainability careers are growing in importance and demand. «Despite rollbacks in regulations and climate change denial, environmental management and sustainability is still one of the key growth industries in the world today,» the editors of Great Business Schools explain; «Earning an Environmental and Sustainability Management Master’s will allow you to work in one of the most interesting and lucrative industries around.» «Environmental management jobs can be found in many different industries,» the editors point out. «Individuals who prefer working with the environment, in general, can find employment in organizations like the Bureau of Land Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, or the Department of Natural Resources,» they explain, while «safety and environmental management professionals are found in manufacturing and construction companies.» Whether private or public sector, there is demand for environmental and sustainability management professionals.

GBS editors are concerned with providing students with information they can really use. The audience for GBS includes traditional high school grads, working adults, and career-changing professionals. That is why Great Business Schools ranks both online and traditional programs. As the editors explain, «The flexibility and convenience of an online degree program make it possible to learn new skills while they are working allowing them to take on more responsibilities and apply for new positions within their company.» By featuring accredited, reputable institutions, GBS ensures that prospective students can trust their choices.

Going to the right school is important for every student. Great Business Schools doesn’t get caught up about which schools are the «best.» They focus on what makes business schools great places for students to learn and grow. Rankings and resources that reflect a wide range of needs and priorities are what set GBS apart.
