POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Anago Cleaning Systems today announced it has moved up five spots to #33 and retains its #2 spot in its industry category in Entrepreneur magazine’s yearly Franchise 500 ranking. This highly competitive list is the publication’s most prestigious ranking, recognizing the top 500 franchises that continue to evolve and maintain relevance with the latest trends, while reporting the greatest growth.

«Anago Cleaning Systems is proud to be recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine for the quality and dynamic franchise growth of our franchise model,» said Adam Povlitz, CEO & President of Anago Cleaning Systems. «2020 was particularly challenging for all industries and Anago was proud to be considered an essential, frontline business tasked with keeping, schools, hospitals, and many different types of businesses safe and open during the pandemic. Our Franchisees relied on our brand’s core values to navigate the changing landscape, continue growth, implement new and innovative technologies, while keeping their strong passion for service.»

Anago Cleaning Systems is consistently recognized within Entrepreneur’s suite of ranking systems, earning the #14 fastest growing franchise last year. Anago Cleaning Systems’ position on the ranking demonstrates the brand’s rising popularity with both franchisees and customers.

«The importance of commercial cleaning has been re-defined due to COVID-19,» added Povlitz. «What we’ve experienced with global events such as the 2008 financial meltdown, the spread of the H1N1 virus in 2009 and now the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 is that people turn to franchises that offer essential services still needed despite times of a strained economy. As an industry, we expect to see continued growth and expansion as we continue to live with the COVID-19 pandemic.»

Anago Cleaning Systems is a pioneer of the master franchise system, which allows successful mid-career professionals to operate their own exclusive regional franchises, while allowing small businesses to invest in their success.  Both levels simply focus on running their business while Anago Cleaning Systems provides assistance, guidance, and critical tools to grow.

The Franchise 500 is an annual listing of the top 500 American franchising companies compiled by Entrepreneur magazine through a submission and review process. The list includes both public and privately held companies and has been published annually since 1979. The magazine compiles its ranking of the companies on a set of criteria—franchises are assessed across five pillars including: costs and fees, size and growth, support, financial strength and stability, and brand strength.

Arizona Company Uses the Sun and Zero_Point Energy to Reduce the Cost of Making Green Hydrogen from Water

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — United Energies Development Corporation, a wholesale industrial retail gas producer and alternative energy company, today announced it has finally broken the cost barrier to making «Green» Hydrogen from electrolyzing water. This will be the only Hydrogen generation company in the World using this process. United Energies Development Corporation is constructing the patented Photovoltaic and Electrolyzer hybrid facility using classified technology originally designed for NASA. This patented and secured method for making «Green» Hydrogen and Oxygen gas in large scale from groundwater and sunlight is the next stage in the evolution of the Hydrogen industry.

Denis Luz, CEO, explains their mission statement, «We are a Hydrogen generation company, which other people do, but it is our process that separates us from our competition. Most commonly Hydrogen is made from Natural gas, but it is costly, dirty, and it is filled with Sulfur that contaminates fuel cells. Instead, we start with ultra-pure water, turning it into 99.9998% pure Hydrogen and Oxygen gas using specialized equipment and a large Photo-Voltaic Array. Today all Hydrogen comes into Arizona by tanker or rail from California, where the nearest Hydrogen generation facilities are located. We are able to eliminate that transport cost, bringing H2 production costs to $1.33 Kg/H2 at an electricity cost of $.05 kWh. Our equipment uses only 1.2 MW/hr to make 1,077 Kg/H2 a day.  No other companies’ technology come close, especially the PEM systems that use large power to pressurize the water.»

Our Process

United Energies will be the only plant using this equipment with patented technology, that weakens the molecular bond of water before splitting it. By reducing the energy of the water itself to near Zero, an electrical charge can separate it with lower input power, utilizing alternative sources such as wind, tidal, or in this case solar, lowering the cost of production.  United Energies will store both solar and off-peak electricity at night, and sell it back to the utility when it is required by regulatory agencies or when they are being strained to capacity.

About United Energies Development Corporation

United Energies Development Corporation is an industrial and retail gas producer utilizing revolutionary methods for producing Hydrogen and Oxygen gas by combining solar electricity and groundwater with alkaline electrolysis Zero-point energy process. We harness the natural resources that go underutilized, and capitalize on their availability to produce valuable commodities with lowered production costs. By providing a clean fuel alternative that offers long range, our goal is to fuel the 1.4 billion or more cars and trucks running on gasoline and Diesel in the world, polluting our planet.

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — California’s buildings are a leading source of air pollution and climate-changing emissions and must be electrified for the state to meet its public health and climate goals. Making this transformational shift will require a mix of incentives, innovation, and education about all-electric technologies. A new study released today by New Buildings Institute (NBI) in partnership with the Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) lays the groundwork for the important work ahead.

The Building Electrification Technology Roadmap (BETR) is a first-of-its-kind study focused on accelerating the adoption of highly efficient electric technologies that displace fossil fuel technologies. The study takes a comprehensive look at electrification technology options across various residential and commercial building types. The authors characterize more than three dozen technologies across technology readiness, product availability, ease of application, market awareness, and their ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. BETR highlights major roadblocks facing these technologies and provides recommendations on how to accelerate market adoption.

«California’s buildings produce more smog-causing pollutants than cars. Electrification is the pathway for cleaning up our buildings sector. This report lays out a clear roadmap showing how electrification technology can help achieve public health and climate goals,» says Panama Bartholomy, Director, BDC.

At its core, BETR is a guide for efficiency programs, which have a 40-year history of improving energy outcomes in buildings and beyond. The study sends important signals to other stakeholders, including manufacturers, designers and building owners. More than a dozen experts contributed to the report, which was funded by NBI, Southern California Edison, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Pacific Gas and Electric, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and the Electric Power Research Institute.

«There is a wealth of information in BETR. Having the full suite of electrification technologies mapped out gives us a guide for where to focus these next few years to decarbonize buildings,» says David Jacot, P.E. Director of Efficiency Solutions, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Key Findings from the Building Electrification Technology Roadmap

Every major end use is ready for electrification technology.
Replacing fossil fuel-based space heating, water heating, cooking, and laundry systems with efficient all-electric technologies cuts energy use by over 40% and carbon emissions by over 75% for those four end-uses across multiple California climate zones.

Heat pumps are a clear winner on space heating and cooling.
Heat pumps stand out when it comes to electrifying space heating and cooling due to their mature technology, high market awareness, and high efficiency. Heat pumps are ready and available for new construction and retrofit applications in every sector.

Heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) offer the highest potential for rapid greenhouse gas reductions.
Fossil-fuel combustion water heaters account for a whopping 40% of natural gas use in California single-family homes, according to the California Energy Commission. The state’s residential gas water heaters should be electrified by 2045. HPWHs are a decades-old, reliable technology that’s readily available for new construction, some retrofits, and multifamily applications.

Induction cooking technology would reduce emissions while improving indoor air quality.
Today’s electric induction range tops are a desirable technology to displace gas cooking. They have superior controllability, user experience, and health and safety benefits. While gas cooking accounts for just 7% of total residential gas use statewide, benefits related to improving indoor air quality makes them attractive.

Heat pump dryers and combo washer/dryers could be game-changers.
Heat pump dryers use half the energy of a standard gas burning or electric resistance dryer, according to ENERGY STAR. Combo washer/dryers (condensing dryers), which are common in Europe, are another promising laundry technology offering greenhouse gas reduction and energy savings.

«Although fuel-fired equipment in homes and buildings has a long history of meeting our needs, on-site gas combustion has a limited future,» says Cathy Higgins, NBI Research Director, who co-authored BETR with Alexi Miller, NBI Associate Technical Director. «Growing the market share of all-electric technologies can accelerate grid decarbonization. However, this transition will take time, so the sooner we get started the better.»

New Report Details Education Lessons Learned from COVID-19

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — SynED, a national non-profit focused on education, today released ReportOUT, a quarterly publication that highlights innovative educational initiatives that promise different perspectives and lasting changes, with its latest edition entitled «Beyond the Pandemic: Lessons Learned from COVID 19, Volume 8.«

ReportOUT includes insights from across the economic, education, and political world, bringing a diverse array of viewpoints and analysis on how to approach education differently.

«COVID-19 has amplified existing problems in our community and in education, but we should be excited by the fact innovation has suddenly moved from the margins to the center of many education systems,» said Guy Smith, Executive Editor, ReportOUT. Mr. Smith, a former faculty member at Antioch University who also previously served as the Dean of Educational Programs at Santa Barbara City College, continued: «Another lesson from the pandemic is that we can operate smarter at a number of levels. For instance, we’ve learned that some higher education functions can be done remotely with few, if any, negative consequences.»

This issue is a compendium of 13 articles that provide insights and lessons from community colleges to the future of delivering online learning from 5G to 10G.

Emiliana Vegas, a Senior Fellow and co-director of the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution stated in «Beyond Reopening Schools: How Education Can Emerge Stronger Than Before Covid-19«: «we found that many of the promising innovations were on the margins of education systems and not at the center of how learning takes place. These include 1) innovative pedagogical approaches alongside direct instruction to help young people not only remember and understand but analyze and create; 2) new ways of recognizing learning alongside traditional measures and pathways; 3) crowding in a diversity of people and places alongside professional teachers to help support learning in school; and 4) smart use of technology and data that allowed for real-time adaptation and did not simply replace analog approaches.«

Steven Mintz, a professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin, writes in «K-12 Trends and the Future of Higher Education«: «Long before this spring’s lockdown or this summer’s protests, public schools had already begun to reckon with gross disparities in learning outcomes and multiple barriers to students’ academic success. Colleges and universities have much to learn from their struggles to eliminate achievement gaps and promote educational equity.» As we look to the future of higher education, Dr. Mintz outlines seven key trends from K-12 that higher education stakeholders should take note of today:

1.  Prioritize Equity

2.  Embrace Differentiated Instruction

3.  A Skills and Outcomes Focus

4.  Life Skills and Social Emotional Learning

5.  Redesigning Assessments of Learning

6.  Addressing Nonacademic Barriers to Student Success

7.  Building a Learning Ecosystem and Wraparound Supports

«We will never go back to where we were before COVID, but if we pay attention to the data and listen to what our communities say they need, we can make incredible strides in education that will be felt for generations to come,» concluded Mr. Smith.

NAPLES, Italy, Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — A few years ago, Focus Magazine participated in an urban speleology expedition organized with the Naples Underground Association. Naples Underground (Napoli Sotterranea), lead by Founder and President Vincenzo Albertini, has been involved in exploring and conserving the subsoil of the city for years and has ensured that this geological feature still stands, functionally today. Here are some of the trinkets of knowledge that they picked up along the way.

From a geological perspective, Naples is one of a kind in the world as it is bedded on top of a thick layer of yellow tuff, which was the result of nearby volcanoes in Campi Flegrei, thousands of years ago. This eruption resulted in a cool, soft rock that proves easy to extract and manipulate. It was then in the fourth century BC that the Greeks founded the city of Neapolis and opened tuff quarries to procure blocks and materials suitable for building.

Under the expert lead of Vincenzo Albertini, Focus magazine explores the Naples of today, in particular that square between via della Sapienza, via dei Tribunali, San Biagio dei librai and corso Umberto, which rests on the old medieval city. They discovered that from an unassuming room, you can go down through a trap door into the Roman theater where Nero sang and played the lyre. Across from the nearby Piazza San Gaetano one can then make their way beneath the surface, into a system of galleries and cisterns from the Greek and Roman era. This finally leads to large rooms or bunkers that, during the last world war, were converted into air-raid shelters, complete with electricity.

Many tunnels in Naples were filled with the treasures of war, smuggled cigarettes and remains of criminal activity of old, however, just a few steps from Piazza San Gaetano, in the church of Purgatorio ad Arco, another unique adventure of mystery awaits, descending into the afterlife. Here one can find a large mass grave where, in a layer 50 feet deep, rest the remains of one and a half million people.

Since their visit, The Municipality of Naples has opened this mass grave to the public as a historical monument of compassion. Here, one can see 40 thousand skulls in a row, one on top of the other. It was here that the society found a sort of return to ancient religion as many people considered these skulls to be souls in purgatory which provided the assistance of ancestors, while they were still living.

Finally, Vicenzo Albertini leaves the Focus team with the closing explanation that, «It was in the First World War and then in the Second that, with so many missing … in the concentration camps, the custom of adopting a «cap ‘e mort» spread … The purpose was to communicate, through the skull of a stranger, with the soul of a loved one, to have news of him.»

RICHARDSON, Texas, Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Though 2020 presented many challenges, Service King Collision’s passion and drive to help others through the act of service remained steadfast.

Throughout the year, Service King repaired and donated 10 vehicles to recipients across the country through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides® program, in addition to donating funds to several nonprofit organizations across the country.

Recycled Rides is a unique community action initiative through which members of the NABC and others in the auto body repair industry unite with local nonprofit organizations to provide deserving individuals and families with the gift of a fully restored vehicle. Service King has consistently donated vehicles through the Recycled Rides program for more than 10 years.

«At Service King, we foster a culture of shared values, such as integrity, family and the calling to serve,» said Service King President Jeff McFadden. «I’m very proud of our team for the continued support of several nonprofits that have long-standing relationships with our locations systemwide. Through our involvement with the Recycled Rides Program and our various donations to charitable organizations, our hope is to consistently create real impact in the communities we call home.»

During the holidays, Service King teammates annually support multiple nonprofit organizations. To prioritize pandemic safety in the giving process, Service King maintained this commitment by funding the estimated value of items historically collected by its teammates each year. As a result, Service King contributed monetary donations to various charities nationwide throughout the holiday season. These include Alicia’s House, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Arizona’s Children Association, Cornerstone Ranch, Food Bank of the Rockies, Footprints of Fight, Interfaith Family Services, Project Hope Alliance, Second Harvest Food Bank, The Samaritan Inn, McKinney Roots, The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation and Soldiers’ Angels.

«The Samaritan Inn team is deeply thankful for Service King’s generous donation to our organization,» said Rick Crocker, Chief Executive Officer. «Even during a very challenging year for people across the globe, Service King never lost sight of its commitment to give back to the community. With support from their team and other partners, we are able to get that much closer to our mission of providing hope for the homeless by teaching self-sufficiency and the life skills needed to meet their needs, helping them gain dignity and independence.»

Ballard Announces Follow-On Orders for Fuel Cell Modules to Power 10 Solaris Buses in Europe

VANCOUVER, BC and HOBRO, Denmark, Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ – Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP) (TSX: BLDP) today announced purchase orders from Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. («Solaris»; www.solarisbus.com), a leading European bus and trolleybus manufacturer and Ballard partner headquartered in Bolechowo, <span…

VANCOUVER, BC and HOBRO, Denmark, Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ – Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP) (TSX: BLDP) today announced purchase orders from Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. («Solaris»; www.solarisbus.com), a leading European bus and trolleybus manufacturer and Ballard partner headquartered in Bolechowo, Poland, for 10 Ballard FCmove™ fuel cell modules to power 10 Fuel Cell Electric Buses (FCEBs) in the Netherlands. Ballard plans to ship the modules in 2021.

Ballard fuel cell modules will power 10 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses planned for deployment with Arriva Nederland in the Province of Gelderland, the Netherlands later in 2021. These will replace diesel buses currently in service and are expected to cumulatively travel over 1-million kilometers (620,000 miles) per year.

Each of the single decker Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses is 12-meters (40-feet) long, has 37 seats and total capacity for 85 people, and is capable of traveling 350 kilometers (210 miles) on a single hydrogen refueling. The buses are designed for maximum passenger comfort and security, with amenities that include air conditioning, a modern passenger information system, built-in USB charging points, wheelchair access, and CCTV cameras.

Rob Campbell, Ballard Chief Commercial Operator said, «With the deployment of these 10 buses, Ballard modules will be powering a total of 67 Solaris buses in The Netherlands, Germany and Italy. The order we are announcing today is indicative of the growing European and global adoption of zero-emission Fuel Cell Electric Buses, driven by recognized benefits such as range, route flexibility, fast refueling and scalability of refueling infrastructure, which all contribute to a competitive Total Cost of Ownership, or TCO, in comparison to other zero-emission bus solutions.»

Partial funding for the Netherland deployment is being provided through Europe’s JIVE – or Joint Initiative For Hydrogen Vehicles Across Europe – funding programs, which is intended to pave the way to commercialization of FCEBs by coordinating procurement activities to unlock economies-of-scale and reduce costs as well as supporting new hydrogen refueling stations. Results of the JIVE programs are expected to demonstrate the technical readiness of FCEBs to bus operators and the economic viability of hydrogen as a zero-emission bus fuel to policy makers. The JIVE programs are supported by a total of €57 million in grants from the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking.

SOMERVILLE, Mass. and HOUSTON, Feb. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Greentown Labs Houston (Greentown Houston), the city’s first-ever climatetech startup incubator, today announced its network of partners has grown by five with the addition of CenterPoint Energy, Gexa Energy of NextEra Energy Resources, EIV Capital, Wells Fargo, and Williams as its newest Founding and Grand Opening Partners. These partners join a diverse group of 16 existing partners that represent a broad community of energy organizations, renewable energy experts, and organizations committed to supporting early-stage cleantech startups.

«Greentown Houston is proud to have CenterPoint Energy, Gexa Energy, EIV Capital, Wells Fargo, and Williams join our roster of partners that are committed to climate action and accelerating the deployment of climatetech solutions,» said Dr. Emily Reichert, CEO of Greentown Labs. «These partners—from energy providers to financial services organizations—will play a pivotal role in enabling the success of both our operations and the Houston startup community.»

In September 2020, Greentown Houston announced its location at 4200 San Jacinto St. in the Innovation District being developed by Rice Management Company. The general contractor for the project is Miller LaPoint Construction, based in Houston. Design services for the project are provided by Abel Design Group and Silverman Trykowski Architects. The incubator will provide more than 40,000 sq. ft. of prototyping lab, office, and community space for about 50 startup companies, totaling 200-300 employees.

At a celebratory ceremony alongside Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on Feb. 2, Greentown Houston will reveal what the exterior facade of the building and interior layout will look like once it opens. The building’s exterior will be painted gray with Greentown Labs’ brand colors incorporated as accent details. Greentown Houston is working with the Houston Arts Alliance to identify a local artist to install a large mural on the east side of the building to display Greentown Houston’s mission around climate action, community collaboration, and entrepreneurial partnership.

In light of COVID-19 restrictions, the Feb. 2 ceremony is private but interested parties can view images and footage of Greentown Houston here, and all are invited to a public, virtual EnergyBar networking event on Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. ET., where attendees can hear a recap of the Feb. 2 ceremony, learn about Greentown Houston’s progress, and get a sneak peek of what the incubator will look like when it opens this spring.

«Houston is delighted to welcome Greentown Labs to our expanding innovation ecosystem, and we can’t wait to see the incubator’s facility open in a few short months,» said Mayor Sylvester Turner. «Last year, we released our first-ever Climate Action Plan, and we believe organizations like Greentown Labs, its impressive network of partners, and climatetech entrepreneurs will help us achieve the ambitious goals outlined in the plan. The City of Houston is focused on catalyzing and leading the global energy transition, and we’re excited to work with Greentown Labs on this effort.»

Greentown Houston is a proud member of the Greater Houston Partnership and is actively involved in the organization’s economic development efforts to help Houston lead the global energy transition.

«It is essential that we position Houston as the leader of the global energy transition, and Greentown Houston is a crucial part of that effort,» said Susan Davenport, Chief Economic Development Officer with the Greater Houston Partnership. «We are thrilled to join Greentown Houston to celebrate this critical step forward in their much-anticipated expansion with the addition of these new partners. These organizations, and the expertise and resources they bring, join a thriving ecosystem built of major corporate energy R&D centers, corporate venture arms, and VC-backed energy startups. We are eagerly anticipating Greentown Houston’s official opening this spring and look forward to working together to build a more efficient and more sustainable low-carbon future.»

Greentown Houston sits adjacent to The Ion, a 288,000 sq. ft. innovation hub that anchors the Innovation District being developed by Rice Management Company.

«We are excited to recognize Greentown Houston’s momentum. This is another step in solidifying Greentown’s presence as Houston’s premier destination for cleantech and climate change technology,» said Ryan LeVasseur, Managing Director of Direct Real Estate at Rice Management Company. «Greentown’s role in the innovation ecosystem further solidifies the Innovation District’s position as a hub for the advancement of the region’s economy. Together, The Ion and Greentown Houston will set a new standard for creating new opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs.»

Greentown Houston’s Growing Partner Network

Since announcing its expansion to Houston in June 2020, Greentown Labs has received a warm welcome from the Houston business community—underscoring the city’s eagerness and enthusiasm to lead the energy transition. Today, Greentown Houston is fortunate to welcome three new Founding Partners to its ecosystem:

As the only investor-owned electric and gas utility based in Texas, CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CNP) is an energy delivery company with electric transmission and distribution, power generation, and natural gas distribution operations that serve more than 7 million metered customers in Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. As of Sept. 30, 2020, the company owned approximately $33 billion in assets and also owned 53.7 percent of the common units representing limited partner interests in Enable Midstream Partners, LP, a publicly traded master limited partnership that owns, operates, and develops strategically located natural gas and crude oil infrastructure assets. With approximately 9,600 employees, CenterPoint Energy and its predecessor companies have been in business for more than 150 years.

«At CenterPoint Energy, we are energized by this partnership with Greentown Labs. Our company has a strong commitment to the delivery of clean energy to customers and we see this partnership as an opportunity to lend our expertise and industry knowledge to help craft and accelerate a clean energy future,» said Kenny Mercado, Executive Vice President of Electric Utility at CenterPoint Energy. «As part of our new long-term growth strategy, we plan to provide a modern, reliable electric grid to connect the large number of renewable energy projects being built in our Houston service territory. We are also committed to the continued development of alternative fuels programs, including renewable natural gas, that would provide customers new energy choices.»

Gexa Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, is one of the fastest-growing retail electricity providers in the U.S., serving over 1.5 million residential and commercial customers. NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power in the nation and the largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun in the world.

«Greentown Labs is an exciting forum for Gexa Energy to collaborate and accelerate early stage innovation. We look forward to developing new ideas in Houston that benefit our customers and the broader markets,» said Brian Landrum, President at Gexa Energy.

Wells Fargo is a leading financial services company that has approximately $1.9 trillion in assets and proudly serves one in three U.S. households and more than 10 percent of all middle-market companies in the U.S. Wells Fargo is committed to playing an important role in accelerating a just transition to a low-carbon economy and reducing the impacts of climate change. Through strategic partnerships, its goal is to do this by increasing its operational efficiency, advancing clean technology, innovation, and other environmental solutions—at work, at home, and in the communities it serves.

«Wells Fargo is committed to bringing innovation and entrepreneurship to Houston,» said Chad Johnson, Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo’s Technology Banking Group. «This is an exciting time to see Houston’s tech ecosystem expand and become home to cleantech incubators. We know Greentown Labs will provide critical resources to entrepreneurs that will enable them to launch innovative businesses, which will help build a more sustainable future for our city.»

Greentown Houston is on schedule to open its facility in Spring 2021, and has a subset of partners dedicated to the success of its grand opening. Naturgy and FCC Environmental Services (FCC) were the first Greentown Houston Grand Opening Partners and today EIV Capital and Williams join them.

EIV Capital, a Houston-based private equity firm, specializes in providing growth equity to the North American energy industry. EIV concentrates on midstream infrastructure, emissions management, and alternative energy. The firms’ management has extensive experience leading and investing in successful companies across the energy value chain, including companies focused on carbon reduction.

«EIV Capital is proud to support Greentown Labs and welcomes them to Houston. We believe fostering collaboration between Greentown Labs’ climatetech and cleantech entrepreneurs and Houston’s world-leading energy community is essential to developing and scaling the solutions needed to address climate change while still providing affordable and reliable energy,» said Patti Melcher, Co-founder & Managing Partner of EIV Capital. «We are committed to Greentown Labs’ mission and pleased to be joining a robust and collaborative partner network that will ensure its success.»

Williams, an industry-leading energy infrastructure company, is committed to the safe delivery of natural gas products to reliably fuel the clean energy economy in the United States. Williams manages 30 percent of the nation’s natural gas used for clean-power generation, heating, and industrial use. In 2020, Williams announced ambitious climate commitments, aiming to reduce 56 percent of company-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and is on a pathway to net zero emissions by 2050.

«Williams is excited to join Greentown Labs as the first midstream corporate partner to support cleantech entrepreneurship that will accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future,» said Chad Zamarin, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategic Development at Williams. «It is through technology innovation and collaboration with organizations like Greentown Labs that we can develop solutions to reduce emissions and build a clean energy economy on our path to net zero by 2050.»

In 2020, Greentown Labs was thrilled to announce its 14 inaugural Houston Founding Partners: Chevron, NRG Energy and Reliant Energy, Shell, BHP, Vinson & Elkins, Microsoft, ENGIE North America Inc., Rice Management Company, Saint-Gobain, Sunnova Energy International Inc., The American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social Impact, SCF Partners, Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., and Direct Energy

Greentown Houston recently announced its 16 inaugural startup members. It is actively accepting startup members through its early access membership offering and welcoming additional partners in advance of the facility opening in Spring 2021.
