BRONX, N.Y., Nov. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Today, Montefiore Health System and Albert Einstein College of Medicine opened the doors to its new COVID-19 vaccine unit, which will enroll people in clinical trials that will test the efficacy of vaccines against the novel coronavirus. The unit is led by Barry Zingman, MD, professor of medicine at Einstein and clinical director, infectious diseases, at the Moses division of Montefiore Health System.

Montefiore

The vaccine unit opening comes as global coronavirus infections are rising sharply, with nearly 200,000 cases reported daily in the United States. Montefiore’s goal is to ensure more than half of all trial participants are adults most affected by COVID-19 with a focus on people older than 65. Across the country, older individuals and communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

«Montefiore and Einstein have a legacy of providing inclusive access to cutting edge care,» said Andrew D. Racine, M.D., Ph.D., system senior vice president and chief medical officer at Montefiore and professor of pediatrics at Einstein. «By ensuring that historically underrepresented patients are included in COVID-19 vaccination research, this effort will help ensure the efficacy and safety of vaccines for these underrepresented patient groups.»

The new vaccine unit builds on Montefiore and Einstein’s leadership conducting COVID-19 trials and providing lifesaving clinical care to thousands of people in the community and has already started enrolling people in the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine AZD1222 trial. Dr. Zingman is the principal investigator at Montefiore for the vaccine, which is one of 13 COVID-19 vaccines in phase III trials and the first to be evaluated at Montefiore and Einstein. He was also the principal investigator at Montefiore and Einstein for the ACTT-1 and ACTT-2 National Institutes of Health trials, which evaluated remdesivir (now FDA-approved as a treatment for people hospitalized with COVID-19) and remdesivir plus baricitinib, respectively.

Since March, physician-scientists at Montefiore and Einstein have studied COVID-19’s impact on almost every major health condition, ranging from asthma to cancer; examined health inequities in local communities; and helped determine which treatments work best against COVID-19.

Among its notable research, Montefiore and Einstein faculty:

–  Published the first major U.S. study on the use of steroids, which confirmed the findings of the large-scale British RECOVERY trial showing that steroids are effective in treating COVID-19; the study also revealed which patients can be harmed by steroids

–  Led the first-ever study comparing the immune responses of adults and children with COVID-19 and detected key differences that may explain why children have milder disease than adults

–  Led the development of a monoclonal antibody therapy to neutralize COVID-19—and potentially other emerging coronaviruses—clinical trials will begin in December

–  Created a blood test for detecting COVID-19 antibodies, used clinically and for research

–  Launched the first randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of convalescent plasma with NYU Langone Medicine Center, which has expanded to include the University of Miami and the University of Texas-Houston, among other locations across the country

–  Was the first New York City medical center to enroll participants in the ACTT-1 remdesivir trial and the second highest enrolling site worldwide

–  Will offer the first randomized controlled trial of dexamethasone versus baricitinib (NIAID ACTT-4 study) for the hyperinflammatory state in COVID-19

«Words cannot express my appreciation for the many people who worked so hard to establish the new COVID-19 vaccine unit, making sure underrepresented communities will have access to the most promising protection from COVID-19,» said Dr. Zingman. «To the healthcare providers and investigators who enthusiastically joined the effort and to the people who are coming in to participate in these critically important trials, we thank you for your role in helping the world end this pandemic.»

The AstraZeneca/University of Oxford vaccine is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded trial in which two people will get the vaccine for each person who receives a placebo injection. Two injections will be given during the first 29 days.

An independent analysis of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine found it successfully provoked a powerful immune response against COVID-19. The study will not include people previously diagnosed with COVID-19, people whose immune systems are suppressed due to disease or medications, people with cancer, people who are pregnant or nursing, and anyone under age 18.

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Nov. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — For nearly two decades, Angela’s Bakery has been a New York institution. This family-run business has been satisfying sweet palates with all the typical bakery staples and favorites, but it’s their traditional Dominican cake that’s made them a household name. Now, after much demand, and in an effort to provide this authentic and well-loved dessert to those just around the corner as well as those across the country, Angela’s Bakery is launching their NEW Dominican Cake Mix for online purchase.

Whether you’ve ever tried it for yourself or heard about it through the grapevine, Dominican cake is one of the island’s most cherished exports. Characterized by its moist and airy texture, and meringue frosting, this is the traditional cake that you’ll find at any Dominican celebration, and variations from this cake have gained huge popularity over the years and across the continent. Given its versatility and mass appeal, and with the holidays approaching and consumers looking for new dessert alternatives, Angela’s Bakery decided to make their beloved sweet treat accessible to all.

«For more than 18 years, my family and I have been sharing this Dominican dessert with our loyal storefront customers, adding a little bit of our ancestry and Caribbean flavor to all types of celebrations, and after such a challenging year and people looking for new experiences and flavors, this is our way of bringing our bizcocho dominicano and our island to you,» said Rosangela Rosario, Founder and CEO, Angela’s Dominican Cake Mix Corporation.

Incorporating e-commerce into the business was a natural progression for Angela’s Bakery as a response to the current health crisis and the limitations on connecting with customers in person. The company developed a partnership with ‘Together We Win‘ (TWW), a purpose-driven movement that helps Black and Latino-owned SMBs struggling through the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting fundamental business needs. Allowing customers to shop online has given the bakery the chance to continue serving their loyal fanbase while also reaching customers in other parts of the country.

Available in both vanilla and chocolate varieties, Angela’s Bakery Dominican Cake Mix is available exclusively online and there is a limited-time offer for holiday bundle orders placed.

On #WorldChildrensDay Canyon Entertainment Group Announces a New Girl Pow-R Training Program to Support Building Confidence and Resilience

TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — In support of this year’s theme for #WorldChildrensDay from the United Nations, «Investing in our future means investing in our children», Canyon Entertainment Group is launching the Girl Pow-R Training Program to build confidence and resilience, and promote…

TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — In support of this year’s theme for #WorldChildrensDay from the United Nations, «Investing in our future means investing in our children», Canyon Entertainment Group is launching the Girl Pow-R Training Program to build confidence and resilience, and promote international togetherness through song, dance, playing instruments and building skills.

In just three short years, from launch on March 8, 2017 (International Women’s Day) to March 2020, Canyon Entertainment Group brought together a cadre of young girls who completed 200+ live performances, went on a U.S. tour and also made history by being among the first children to ever be nominated for a JUNO in the Children’s Category for Album of the Year.

Too often, young people are influenced by the thoughts and life experiences of singers and musicians who are in their late teens and their 20’s. Are these the right voices to be inspiring the youth of today? No. This Girl Pow-R Pop Star Training Program is an opportunity to build on a love of music among young people, and help them express their thoughts in family-friendly ways while also giving back to their communities by supporting social causes and advocating for positive change.

The Girl Pow-R Training Program is first being offered all across North America, from Canada to the United States and Mexico, to facilitate and grow awareness among young girls on how to better themselves so they can help improve the welfare of all children. Developing female leaders, who can help lead other young people, is critical to sustaining a positive environment for love, joy and compassion to spread.

Girl Pow-R was originally formed as an energetic group of young girls who set out to inspire others to do their best. The girls in the band represent different cultural, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, and the group embraces the elements of pop, rock and the newer genres like hip hop and rap, to communicate the Girl Pow-R message in positive ways.

The group has taken the audience on a unique journey as they have performed at live shows in North America and now perform online for a global audience, singing new, original music of extraordinary power and musical invention. Girl Pow-R’s original music is uniting the talents of a diverse array of young people who are singers, dancers and musicians, in an unforgettable and unprecedented way.

Now, we are taking the disadvantages of this COVID-19 situation and turning it into an opportunity for a broad swath of young people to zoom in and participate in online courses delivered remotely to anyone, anywhere. Audition applications are being accepted and Canyon Entertainment Group is reaching out to sponsors so that among those who are chosen, there will be some scholarship opportunities offered for those families with a strong commitment, who are unable to pay the training fees.

Fundamentally, this is so much more than an artist development program, as it offers training in life skills such as interviewing and understanding your passions and purpose in life, as well as confidence-building stage performance skills that help to overcome the hesitation to speak in public, along with how to set a path to achieve personal success. Building self-sufficiency is critical in this ever-changing world.

Anyone can audition through the online video submission process on the website: https://www.girl-pow-r.com/girl-pow-r-pop-star-training-program/.

Let your voices be heard in song, let your voices be heard in social media with #GIRLPOWR, and support #WorldChildrensDay. We all have a voice. Let’s support positive change for the world, and embrace the energy of our youth to help make this a better planet!

We are looking for performers and leaders who want to build a positive world with their energy and passion.

Canyon Entertainment Group empowers people through music. We represent a roster of high-caliber artists who inspire their fans every day. By constantly learning from our talented array of singers, songwriters and producers, we strive to create music, and live or online events, that spur positive change.

Apply to be a part of this Girl Pow-R movement, join the Girl Pow-R Training Program to inspire others, and improve and grow yourself so you can help lead others in this transformative process, as well.

STOCKTON, California, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — WelbeHealth, operator of four PACE programs across California, is offering a free webinar in Spanish to address coronavirus safety and manage risk for our elderly. COVID-19: What Seniors and Caregivers Need to Know, will be presented in Spanish on December 2, 2020 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. To register call 800-734-8041 or email info@welbehealth.com and include your name and email address.  Space is limited.

Our goal is simple: We want to help seniors live more independently in their homes and communities. Our team will coordinate every aspect of their care. When seniors and their families are not worried about getting to appointments or keeping track of their medications, they’ll have the freedom they deserve to live the life they want.

Dr. Colin Robinson, MD, MPH, Medical Director for Welbe Health will be the presenter of this valuable information. Dr. Robinson will address the latest guidance on coronavirus safety and how to manage risk while staying active and engaged, as well as answer any questions about the virus, symptoms, safety, and more. The webinar will also include a Q&A session to answer questions you may have about the virus and ways to keep safe.

During this COVID-19 global pandemic, we have all received information from various news, government and community sources on how we can stay safe. While most were helpful, some information conflicted with others creating questions for many seniors. Masks or no masks? Three feet of space or six? Stay away from all groups or just those greater than 10?

The Medical Team at WelbeHealth wants to make sure that the seniors are informed and prepared. The webinar will educate seniors and caregivers with symptoms to watch out for as well as inform on how to reduce risk of exposure to coronavirus.

Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at particularly high risk during the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring the need for aggressive action to protect PACE participants. According to the National PACE Association, the average PACE participant in the U.S. is 77 years old with 8 medical conditions, many of which are chronic conditions such as diabetes, dementia, coronary artery disease, and cerebrovascular disease.

WelbeHealth operates PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), a comprehensive medical and social care model with a decades-long track record of improved quality of life, life expectancy and personal empowerment for frail seniors. Most PACE participants are able to live safely and independently in their own homes and communities rather than receive care in a nursing home. WelbeHealth operates PACE programs in San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties – Stockton PACE; Pasadena – Pacific PACE; Long Beach – LA Coast PACE; and Fresno – WelbeHealth Sequoia PACE.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The holidays normally are a time to get together in person with friends and family.  However, the pandemic may mean virtual celebrations this year.  Regardless of how you celebrate, it’s important to protect yourself from possible dangers associated with holiday trees, candles, and cooking fires, as well as unsafe toys.

Experience the interactive Multichannel News Release here: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8803851-cpsc-covid-19-holiday-safety-tips/

To keep the season safe, here’s what you need to know:

TOYS

Data:

  • Choking on small parts and riding toy injuries:  CPSC reports that in 2019, there were an estimated 162,700 toy-related, emergency department-treated injuries and 14 deaths to children younger than 15, with most of the deaths associated with choking on small parts, like small balls and small toy parts and riding toys.
  • Toy recalls: continue to decline, with nine toy recalls in fiscal year 2020, three involving a lead violation, compared to 172 recalls in 2008, with 19 involving lead violations.  Toys were also recalled for defects, such as choking, entrapment, ingestion and laceration hazards.  Recalled toys present choking, entrapment, ingestion and laceration hazards, among other hazards that pose the threat of death or injury to a child.
  • Scooters: The number of injuries associated with non-motorized scooters significantly decreased from 2015 to 2019 for children younger than 15, from about 45,500 to about 35,600 injuries.

Tips:

  • Follow age guidance and other safety information on the toy packaging, and choose toys that match your child’s interests and abilities.
  • Get safety gear, including helmets for scooters and other riding toys–helmets should be worn properly at all times and be sized to fit.
  • Keep small balls and toys with small parts away from children younger than age 3, and keep deflated balloons away from children younger than 8 years old (discard broken balloons at once).

COOKING

Data:

  • Cooking fires are the # 1 cause of residential fires.
  • An average of 1,700 cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving Day each year, more than three times the average number on any other day of the year.
  • In the last two decades, there were 220 fire or scald/burn incidents involving turkey fryers, resulting in 81 injuries and $9.7 million in property loss.

Tips:

  • Never leave cooking food unattended on the stove.
  • Keep children away from the cooking area, and keep flammable items, like potholders and paper or plastic bags, away from the stove and oven.
  • Only fry a turkey outside and away from your home–not inside your garage, or on your porch.  Do not overfill the oil in the turkey fryer and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on use, including thawing your turkey thoroughly and maintaining control of the oil temperature.

DECORATING

Data:

  • On average, there are about 200 decorating-related injuries each day during the holiday season, with about half of the incidents involving falls.  And in the 2018 holiday season, about 17,500 people were treated in emergency rooms due to holiday decorating-related injuries.
  • In the 2019 holiday season, there were six deaths associated with holiday season decorations.
  • From 2015 to 2017, on average, there were about 100 Christmas tree fires and about 1,100 candle fires (in November and December), resulting in 20 deaths, 160 injuries and nearly $50 million in property damage each year.

Tips:

  • Make sure your live Christmas tree has plenty of water, and look for the «Fire Resistant» label when buying an artificial tree.
  • Place burning candles in sight, away from flammable items, and blow them out before leaving the room.
  • Only use lights tested for safety by a national recognized testing laboratory.  Throw out sets with broken or cracked sockets, frayed or bare wires, or loose connections.

If You Purchased Gasoline from a Valero Station in the State of California and Paid with a Debit Card, a Class Action Settlement May Affect Your Rights

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — A proposed class action settlement has been reached with Valero Marketing and Supply Company («Valero») in a case claiming that Valero engaged in deceptive and unfair conduct in violation of California law by failing to ensure that customers are notified that debit card purchases of gasoline are charged a higher «credit» price, rather than an available lower «cash» price.  The lawsuit is known as…

The lawsuit is known as Bautista v. Valero Marketing and Supply Company, Case No. 3:15-cv-05557-RS.  Valero denies these allegations and there has been no finding of liability against Valero.  Valero has agreed to the Settlement to avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with continuing the case.

WHO IS IN THE SETTLEMENT CLASS?

You need to decide whether you are affected by this Settlement. The Court-certified Settlement Class is defined as «All persons who, between December 3, 2011 and the date of preliminary approval, purchased gasoline using a debit card at a Valero-branded station in California that advertised a ‘cash’ price and ‘credit’ price on Relevant Valero-Branded Signage but the Relevant Valero-Branded Signage did not affirmatively disclose how gasoline purchased with a debit card was priced, and were charged more money per gallon than the advertised ‘cash’ price.»

WHAT DOES THE SETTLEMENT PROVIDE?

Valero has agreed to implement certain modifications to signage available for use by Valero-branded stations in California and its signage policies to further inform consumers how their debit cards will be charged at Valero-branded stations.  For details on the modifications Valero has agreed to, visit www.GasolineSignageSettlement.com or call 1-888-905-0604.

YOUR RIGHTS AND OPTIONS

Do Nothing:  By doing nothing, you are staying in the Settlement Class, and you will automatically receive the benefits of the Settlement in the form of signage and policy modifications.  But you will lose the ability to file or continue your own lawsuit for monetary damages or other relief against Valero based on the claims that are a part of this Settlement.

Ask To Be Excluded:  If you exclude yourself from the Settlement Class you still receive the benefit of the Settlement in the form of signage and policy modifications.  However, you may then be able to sue, or continue to sue, Valero regarding the advertising of «cash» and «credit» prices and failure to disclose a «debit» price, to the extent such claims are not time-barred.  To ask to be excluded, you must send an «Exclusion Request» by mail stating that you want to be excluded.  You must mail your Exclusion Request postmarked by February 18, 2021.  For more information on how to exclude yourself visit www.GasolineSignageSettlement.com.

Object to the Settlement:  If you do not exclude yourself from the Settlement Class, you can object to the Settlement, Class Counsel’s request for attorneys’ fees and expenses, and for a service award and reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses for the Settlement Class Representative. Objections must be filed or postmarked on or before the February 18, 2021.  For more information on how to object visit www.GasolineSignageSettlement.com.

Should I Hire An Attorney?  You do not need to hire your own attorney because Court-appointed Class Counsel is working on your behalf.  If you retain an individual attorney, you will need to pay for that attorney.

Final Approval Hearing:  The Court will hold the Final Approval Hearing on March 11, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.  You can go to this hearing, but you do not have to.  The Court will hear any objections, determine if the Settlement is fair, and consider Settlement Class Counsel’s request for attorneys’ fees and expenses, and for a service award and reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses for the Settlement Class Representative.

HOW DO I GET MORE INFORMATION?

This Notice is only a summary.  For more information, including the Settlement Agreement and other legal documents, visit www.GasolineSignageSettlement.com or contact the administrator at 1-888-905-0604.

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Since the arrival of the award-winning Telluride last year and the head-turning Seltos in early 2020, Kia Motors America (KMA) has had its sights on building a robust and reimagined SUV line-up.  As the next step in this capability-focused product strategy, the all-new 2021 Sorento is poised to bring customers a new level of trail-ready toughness not yet seen from the brand.  To celebrate this rugged personality, KMA unveiled a pair of custom-built Sorento SUVs – the Yosemite Edition and the Zion Edition – during the brand’s virtual national dealer meeting this week.  The two wilderness-themed SUVs build upon the production Sorento X-Line model, a variant that highlights off-road prowess with unique 20-inch wheels, increased ride height to 8.3-in., improved approach/departure angles, more advanced AWD with snow-mode, and a more robust roof rack than the outgoing Sorento.

Kia Sorento Zion Edition is a dune-defeating desert escape vehicle.

Customized by LGE-CTE Motorsports of San Dimas, CA, each vehicle receives its namesake and inspiration from the outdoor environments found in America’s great national parks.  The Sorento Yosemite Edition is a dream build for high elevation adventuring and mountain living, painted in «Pine Green» in a matte finish with gloss and matte black accents.  The Sorento Zion Edition is a desert escape vehicle made for stomping dunes, painted in «Desert Sand» in a gloss finish with gloss black accents.

Both feature custom fender flares that sit atop 20-inch wheels and 32-inch all-terrain tires. Body armor includes custom skid plates and brush guards in a satin chrome finish.  For packing gear, the Yosemite edition dons a brawny roof rack, while the Zion Edition comes equipped with a full-length cargo top.  The duo will be making special appearances around the country to capture the imagination of adventurers and enthusiasts, alike.

While most customers will not take their Sorento to the level of customization seen on the Yosemite and Zion Editions, many have shown a penchant for personalizing their Kia SUVs.  To satisfy that desire, Kia will offer an exciting range of port-installed and dealer-installed accessories.  Customers can tailor their Sorento to their lifestyle and needs with attachments such as roof rack crossbars, tow hitches for trailers, and side steps for easier load-in of toys.

The 2021 Kia Sorento will arrive in showrooms beginning in November.

Cinq Artist Quincy Drops «Aye Yo» Remix Ft. Shaggy & Patoranking – Three Global Music Voices Unite In Google Pixel-Inspired Recording Session

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Quincy doesn’t let Covid-19 get in the way of a great recording session, uniting with reggaeton legend Shaggy and Africa’s top streaming artist Patoranking via Google Pixel for a world-class remix of his dancehall hit «Aye Yo.» The song drops <span…

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Quincy doesn’t let Covid-19 get in the way of a great recording session, uniting with reggaeton legend Shaggy and Africa’s top streaming artist Patoranking via Google Pixel for a world-class remix of his dancehall hit «Aye Yo.» The song drops Friday, November 20 while the video will be released Monday November 23, both through Cinq Music.

«Aye Yo» Remix taps into the African and Reggae market. Quincy once again worked with American-Trinidadian song-writer, Angele Hunte, (best known for her Grammy-winning «Empire State of Mind» for artists Jay-Z and Alicia Keys). The song was produced by top Latin producer DJ Buddha (Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Lil John).

«DJ Buddha’s vision was to unite three voices that represent the sound – Afro-Beats, Dancehall and modern R&B,» says Quincy. «As a new artist, I wanted to execute a different aspect of a REMIX, not just to release a new version for the life of the song, but for our fans to see why this alliance was key in highlighting the merge of sounds and visuals. For me, creating the video was like taking two steps back, as all three of us are in different parts of the world – US, Jamaica and Nigeria

The music video for «Aye Yo» Remix represents the «digital» parties so many are holding during the pandemic via their smartphones. In this case, a Google Pixel serves as catalyst for a recording session. «It’s about uniting people in a new age,» says Quincy. «I also wanted to highlight what is happening in Nigeria (SARS, a scandal involving Nigeria’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad), and supporting Patoranking’s movement there. I am also grateful for Shaggy, as his music brings light and rhythm to so many around the world. With this song and video, I’m in really good company.»

Cinq Music Group signed Quincy earlier this year. The artist is recognized as a modern day renaissance visionary artist. He is an accredited actor, cultural content creator, fashion trendsetter, musician and tech entrepreneur.

About Cinq:
Cinq Music Group is a technology-driven record label, distribution, and rights management company.
