NEW YORK, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The book Añorando a mí Colombia was created by Ligia Chirivi Giraldo. Ligia is an author who was born in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. She is proud to be Colombian. She went to the NOVA Institute in West LA and graduated as an echo vascular technician.

Giraldo said this about his book: «The reason and the intention for which I made this book was to collect all my ‘writings’ distributed in the Colombian festivals—a request from some of my countrymen. Also, remember those grandparents’ sayings and song phrases? But most importantly, don’t forget our culture.

Year after year since I arrived in Los Angeles with my husband, sons, and daughters, I was showing my longing for Colombia and all its ‘ailments’ that it has complained about. I felt powerless because I couldn’t even ‘grumble’ when my country was discredited. This is why in an English with very high barriers, I shouted, ‘I am proud to be Colombian!’

Each ‘writing’ is a tear shed with great nostalgia, which has become an egg—yes, a condor egg, which needs incubation to be read so that if already converted into a pigeon, it begins to fly slowly until it reaches the height of their ancestors.»

Published by Page Publishing, Ligia Chirivi Giraldo’s new book Añorando a mí Colombia shares a profound and impassioned dedication to proclaiming the vast wealth of Colombian heritage and culture that will surely captivate people’s interest.

Consumers who wish to learn and appreciate the essence of Colombian culture can purchase Añorando a mí Colombia in any bookstore or online at Apple iTunes, Amazon.com, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

I am Proud to be Colombian!

Air Liquide inaugurates the world’s largest low-carbon hydrogen membrane-based production unit in Canada

Supplied with renewable energy, this unit is now producing up to 8.2 tonnes per day of low-carbon hydrogen in Bécancour, Québec. PARIS, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ – Air Liquide has completed the construction of the world’s largest PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer. Supplied with renewable energy, this unit is now producing up to 8.2 tonnes per day of low-carbon hydrogen in Bécancour, Québec. With this large-scale investment, the Group confirms its long-term commitment to the hydrogen energy markets and its ambition to be a major player in the supply of low-carbon hydrogen.

The new 20 MW PEM electrolyser, equipped with Cummins1 technology, is the largest operating unit of its kind in the world and will help meet the growing demand for low-carbon hydrogen in North America. Bécancour’s proximity to the main industrial markets in Canada and the United States will help ensure their supply of low-carbon hydrogen for industrial use and mobility. The commissioning of this electrolysis unit increases by 50% the capacity of Air Liquide’s Bécancour hydrogen production complex.

Compared to the traditional hydrogen production process, this new production unit will avoid the emission of around 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to the emissions of 10,000 cars per year. The choice of Bécancour is based on two attributes of the site: the access to abundant renewable power from Hydro-Québec and the proximity to the hydrogen mobility market in the northeast of the continent.

Susan Ellerbusch, CEO, Air Liquide North America and Group Executive Committee Member: «The fight against climate change is at the heart of the Air Liquide Group’s strategy. The inauguration of the Bécancour site in Canada marks an important step in the implementation of this strategy. With this world’s first, Air Liquide confirms its commitment to the production of low-carbon hydrogen on an industrial scale and its ability to effectively deploy the related technological solutions. Hydrogen will play a key role in the energy transition and the emergence of a low-carbon society.»

Air Liquide’s commitment to hydrogen energy
In the past 50 years, Air Liquide has developed unique expertise enabling it to master the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production and storage to distribution and the development of applications for end users, thus contributing to the widespread use of hydrogen as a clean energy source, for mobility in particular. Air Liquide has designed and installed more than 120 stations around the world to date. Hydrogen is an alternative to meet the challenge of clean transportation and thus contributes to the improvement of air quality. Used in a fuel cell, hydrogen combines with oxygen in the air to produce electricity, emitting only water. It does not generate any pollution at the point of use: zero greenhouse gases, zero particles and zero noise. Hydrogen provides a concrete response to the challenges posed by sustainable mobility and local pollution in urban areas.

About Air Liquide in Canada
Air Liquide started its activity in Canada in 1911 and now has a team of more than 2,500 employees working to serve more than 200,000 customers and patients across Canada. In all of the country’s key industrial regions from coast to coast, Air Liquide offers innovative solutions — gas, equipment and services — in a wide variety of sectors: aeronautics, automotive, agri-food industries, chemical, metallurgy, metal fabrication, mining, oil and gas and healthcare.

Rocky Mountain Institute Releases Report on the Economic Development Benefits Rural America Is Reaping from the Growth of Renewables

BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Despite a turbulent start to the 2020s, an important and positive message for rural America is emerging in the decade ahead: rural communities have a significant opportunity to strengthen and diversify their local economies by embracing and actively engaging in the ongoing renewable energy transition.

By 2030, renewable energy capacity in the United States will at least double, and potentially grow by a factor of seven or higher if new policies are enacted to capitalize on continuing cost declines in wind and solar technologies. As a result, rural communities––which host 99 percent of onshore wind and a growing share of utility-scale solar projects––stand to receive a sizeable boost to their local economies.

«The growth of renewable energy in this decade represents a once-in-a-generation wealth creation opportunity for rural America,» said Mark Dyson, principal at Rocky Mountain Institute. «Rural communities in many states are already showing how to leverage the growth of the renewables industry to enhance local economies, and our report lays out a playbook for scaling and extending those benefits across the country.»

This report quantifies the scale of the economic development opportunity from the growth of onshore wind and utility-scale solar projects in rural areas. Our analysis suggests that:

  • Annual revenues from wind and solar projects could exceed $60 billion dollars by 2030—on par with expected revenues from the top three US agricultural commodities: corn, soy, and beef production.
  • Annual local taxes paid by wind and solar projects could total $2.7 billion in 2030, allowing rural town and county governments to invest more in public services and school districts. Further, lease payments to rural landowners could exceed $2.2 billion by 2030.
  • The 54 GW of wind and solar projects slated to come online in 2030 will employ roughly 40,000 workers during the construction phase, delivering $2.3 billion in annual wages. Meanwhile, a long-term operations and maintenance workforce of 38,000 will be needed to support operating wind and solar projects in 2030, delivering $3.7 billion in annual wages.
  • The approximately 600 GW of new wind and solar projected to be built between 2020 and 2030 would generate $220 billion in lifetime value across rural America.

«These numbers indicate the steady and significant stream of benefits that rural communities stand to receive from wind or solar projects developed in their area. A thriving rural renewable energy industry has the potential to bolster local economies across the country at a time when such an economic stimulus is sorely needed,» said Katie Siegner, an associate in RMI’s Carbon-Free Electricity program.

The report provides case studies of existing projects from three different regions and offers recommendations for local, state, and federal leaders to unlock this opportunity. If rural communities embrace renewable energy, it could spur an investment in rural America that will total in the hundreds of billions of dollars, helping communities maintain and strengthen their economic viability for the long term.

LONDON, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Pioneer Point Partners LLP («Pioneer»), the specialist infrastructure investment firm, has reached the €150m first close target of its maiden institutional fund, Pioneer Infrastructure Partners SCSp («the Fund»). The first close has been supported by five European and North American institutions. The Fund is seeking to raise total capital commitments of €500 million and is targeting a 15+% IRR.

The Fund will be deployed in line with Pioneer’s historically successful lower mid-market, value-add infrastructure strategy in the energy transition and environment sectors across Western Europe. Pioneer has previously committed nearly €900 million of equity across nine investments on a deal-by-deal basis, delivering superior risk-adjusted returns.

Pioneer is particularly proud of achieving this first close target in December 2020 having started pre-marketing in February 2020 and set against a backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This successful fundraise which attracted several highly reputable, long established infrastructure investors, is a testament to Pioneer’s key differentiators. These include the experience of the team, with the four founding Partners having over 90 years’ private equity experience across Europe alone; the sector specialisation which enables a thematic research origination strategy, identifying sub-sectors poised for growth ahead of others; and Pioneer’s private equity toolkit, facilitating flexible deal creation, with a particular focus on platform investments, to create long-term, core infrastructure assets.

Pioneer believes the market opportunity remains unprecedented, with trillions of euros of investment required in sustainable infrastructure across Europe to support the shift towards climate neutrality. The drivers of change remain highly complex, however Pioneer has the sector specialism to navigate this landscape and, with its differentiated strategy, is well positioned to develop and maximise the growing interest in and support for the energy transition and environment sectors.

The success of Pioneer’s disciplined, sector specialisation and value-add strategy is demonstrated in its strong track record. This includes Nature Energy, a leading Danish green gas producer; Brockwell Energy, which owns Energy-from-Waste and onshore wind projects in Scotland; and SR Investimenti, an independent platform building, owning and operating solar PV assets in Italy.

TAOYUAN, Taiwan, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Most people want to get rid of ants because they are annoying. However, there is a man in Taiwan who regards ants as a precious treasure. Not only did he raise a lot of ants at home, but recently he also set up a company, «Empire of ants CO. LTD», to do all things related to ants. He is Ray, the founder of the Empire of ants.

Customize tiny formicarium

The main business items of the company are mainly the sale of ants, formicaria and related supplies. He has developed many kinds of formicaria and related products based on his own ant breeding skills and experience. He strives to change people and get more people to join ant farming. He believes that as more and more people raise ants, more people will know about the world of ants and will join the study of ants. Now his products are not only sold in Taiwan, but also exported all over the world. He is committed to speaking out for ants and reducing misconceptions about them.

Ray is a nature lover because of his father. As a child, his father took him to his hometown far from the city. From the very beginning, Ray did not enjoy the time.

With his father by his side, he experienced the fun of nature and he enjoyed the adventure of nature. When Ray was in high school, he participated in a science fair with ants as the subject of his experiments. It was his first time to participate in a science fair, but he won the first place, which made Ray started to study and raise ants.

After graduating from university, he took up raising ants as a hobby and documented this time on his blog. When people came across his blog, they would ask Ray if he wanted to sell ants and formicaria, so he started selling them. In 2013, during his military service that Ray set up his own company, Empire Ant Studio, and has been in the ant business since.

As a result of observing ants for many years, Ray began to cooperate with different institutions. For example, he found that ants that eat pineapples die easily, so he provided the information to academic institutions in the hope of researching an ant control drug, and an optical electronics factory came to him to ask if they could make panels that are not easily damaged by ants through his knowledge of ants. Solving problems makes ant farming more worthy of attention.

Now Ray has a bigger plan; he wants to build a Taiwan Ant Museum. Relying on his experience in running an ant empire, he knows how to teach people the importance of proper knowledge and ants. «Imagine when you walk into our ant museum, it’s like walking into an underground ant nest. Walking from the first room to the deepest room, you will know and understand what real ants are and how important they are. And, in our museum, you can see more than 50 species up close and personal Ray said excitedly.
