The «Cars of the Year 2021», with a Latin flavor

MIAMI, Jan. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — This 2021 will be a year of great changes in the automotive industry. Automotive companies with smart executives know that before them they have a market of powerful Hispanics, which has the highest purchasing power in Latin America.

Twenty-five percent of the population in the main market is Hispanic. The automotive strategy must be directed towards them. The latest Hispanic new vehicle registration data shows that year-over-year sales volume growth has been higher for Hispanics than for non-Hispanics, and this trend continues to grow.

The growth of the Hispanic market is outpacing the general market by almost 3 to 1, Hispanics buy one of four cars sold in the United States.

Just as there are colors for taste, Hispanics also have their taste in different car models.

To achieve this, we plan to present the «Latin Flavor Car of the Year» at the Miami Auto Show as the «Car of the Year » with a Latin flavor. With the change of the event date, from the editorial office of www.purosautos.com, the leading car site for Hispanics in the United States, we have presented the list digitally.

The «Cars of the Year» with a Latin flavor:

Sedan:
2021 Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra is slightly longer and wider than the previous year’s model. It has a sleeker roofline and arrow-shaped styling lines along its sides that add distinctive character.

Inside, there’s more legroom and the rear area has a new redesigned instrument panel with two digital displays placed side by side, giving an impart of a distinctive European luxury sedan vibe. The new Elantra is sure to appeal to Hispanics who want a comfortable, safe and reliable model.

SUV:
2021 Kia Sorento

2021 Sorento HEV Hybrid

The 2021 Kia Sorento has been a winner among the Hispanic community since its first appearance. It brings more interior space than its predecessor and new powertrain options, including a hybrid and a plug-in. Within the Hispanic community, there are models of the brand that are sold as «hot cakes».

The 2021 Sorento is the latest beneficiary of the brand’s latest style trends, which are setting sales records in times of the pandemic, such as the Telluride and K5. Kia is the carmaker that has suffered the least in 2020, as others have had repercussions from Covid 19, and that is due to the massive support of the Hispanic community.

Pick up:
2021 Honda Ridgeline

The Ridgeline is a smooth ride, innovative storage options, quiet and comfortable interior make it stand out in its class that highlights toughness. This style has gone against the robust appearance of those preferred by Hispanics, such as, the Toyota Tacoma and the Chevrolet Colorado. Honda intended to change that perception, and gave a distinctive touch to the 2021 Ridgeline model, which will surely be very close to the taste of our Hispanic community.

Electric EV:
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Mustang Mach-E is the first Ford designed specifically as an electric vehicle. The automaker with the blue oval has already sold the production of the year, and among the buyers are thousands of Hispanics eager for their first electric vehicle, with the iconic name.

The same size as a Ford Escape, the Mustang Mach-E combines typical SUV proportions with details and characteristics of typical Mustang styling. The driving experience of the Mach-E is good enough that this electric model bears the iconic sports car name.

If Ford wanted to captivate the Hispanic community with an electric vehicle that is eye-catching, it is already doing so with the new Mustang Mach-E.

Sports car:
2021 Chevrolet Corvette

The Corvette delivers impressive performance, with European supercar speed, mid-engine exotic flair, exquisite interior, and all at a low price that brings it closer to the taste of the discerning Hispanic supercar consumer.

The Corvette is a true supercar that can withstand the commute, and takes it with comfort and speed wherever you go. It looks like a European sports car and I don’t think you can get more performance for the money you pay for it.

Pick up:
Honda Ridgeline 2021

China Today Documents the Maintenance of the Green Corridor in the Taklamakan Desert

BEIJING, Jan. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the largest desert in China. At the same time, its fast-moving sand dunes make it also the most dangerous desert. Stretching across the center of this vast desert runs the Tarim Desert Highway. It was the first desert Highway to be completed in China and is the longest classified highway to pass through a flowing desert in the world.

In order to protect the highway from being damaged or covered by wind and sand, and keep the road open all year round, on both sides of this 532-kilometer route there are green belts of shade. According to He Ling, an employee of the oil field of the middle of Tarim, a total of more than 20 million shrubs including red willow (tamarisk), sacsaoul (haloxylon plants), and calligonum mongolicum were planted. And to maintain the green corridor in the desert, well houses have been placed at regular intervals along the highway, and maintenance staff are assigned to work there. Cao Xuequan is one of the maintenance staff who has worked in No. 4 well house for more than 10 years. He and his wife work and live here in the desert. They pump water for irrigation, maintain the green belt, and service the equipment day after day, year after year.

The desert highway itself is already a miracle, and these dedicated maintenance workers like Mr. Cao are the people who keep the miracle going. It is because of them that the shrubs that protect against wind and sand can survive and this desert highway can be open to provide a smooth trip all year round.

Agilitas Energy’s SMART Solar Project Brings Renewable Energy and Environmental Benefits to Businesses and Rochester, Massachusetts

ROCHESTER, Mass., Jan. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Agilitas Energy, a leading energy developer with a robust portfolio in the northeast, has acquired an 8.9 megawatt photovoltaic solar plus energy storage project in the Town of Rochester on 38 acres of land. The project is currently under construction.

Agilitas is working in lockstep with the Town of Rochester, including its Planning Board and the Conservation Committee, to sustainably construct the solar project. The project is targeting commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022 and will be able to power more than 1,800 Massachusetts homes. The energy storage component of the project not only will increase the total power output of the array, but also can provide peak-shaving capabilities to stabilize the grid’s power supply.

«This acquisition is the second in a series of substantial Massachusetts SMART program projects we are constructing over the next two years,» said Barrett Bilotta, President of Agilitas Energy. «These SMART projects collectively represent 35MW of solar and 17 MW of energy storage that will be constructed by our internal EPC group. We look forward to working with the Town of Rochester and other townships to build out our new Massachusetts SMART program portfolio.»

As part of the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program, this project will also serve as a Community Solar facility. Community solar allows anyone to access clean solar energy, without having to install solar on-site, and provides significant energy savings to subscribers of the facility. The well-known grocery chain Roche Brothers will be the anchor subscriber of the Project, and many small-to-medium-sized local businesses will also take advantage of the cost-saving benefits brought by the project. «It was an easy business decision to sign a long-term agreement for community solar power with Agilitas Energy. There was no investment or risk, and we’ll realize guaranteed savings on our electric bills,» said Mark Sullivan, the Chief Financial Officer of Roche Brothers Supermarkets.

In addition to the economic savings for local businesses, this project permanently protects 221 acres of forest and wetlands in the Town of Rochester. Agilitas Energy is working with the Buzzards Bay Coalition, who now owns the land, to implement a conservation management plan and maintain a conservation restriction on the parcel. «This is an important property to protect for the overall health of the Buzzards Bay Watershed,» said Coalition President Mark Rasmussen. «It’s part of a large tract of wild and natural land that filters water flowing to both the Sippican and Weweantic rivers and then to the Bay and provides habitat for a diversity of wildlife. It’s an irreplaceable resource for the health of our region.» The parcel is critical habitat for many species of plants and animals, including the eastern box turtle. To further protect critical habitats in the Town of Rochester, Agilitas Energy has made a significant contribution to the Town’s arbor fund to invest in the planting of new trees.

Besides this project, Agilitas is currently constructing another SMART project in the Town of Auburn and is actively developing new solar and energy storage projects in Massachusetts and New York to bring cost benefits to the local townships, businesses, and residents.
