Sungrow Cumulative Shipments to the Americas Crosses 10 GW

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Sungrow, the global leading inverter solution supplier for renewables, announced recently that its cumulative shipments in the Americas hit a significant milestone of 10 GW by the end of 2020, underlining its position in the deep decarbonization of the local economy and its role as a big game-changer for renewable energy across the region at large.

Significant process made in a challenging year

With a continued upward growth trajectory in markets like the United States, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico, Sungrow has extended partnerships with a multitude of EPCs, distributors and integrators.

«We deployed 5 GW of PV inverter solutions to North America in 2020,» said Hank Wang, President of Sungrow Americas. Wang commented that the Company hit the 1 GW milestone in the LATAM hub Chile and has consolidated the pivotal role in Brazil with landmark achievements in both utility-scale market and distributed generation segments.

The celebrated projects supplied in 2020 include the 200 MW Wright Solar project and a 400 MW project in Brazil which is set to be online in the second half of 2021 with Sungrow 3.125 MW central inverter solution installed.

Notably, Sungrow is the only inverter supplier ranked «100% bankable» for two straight years by BNEF. The Company shows a robust track record of performance in projects it powers.

Giant strides taken to innovations

The achievement is testimony to the success of innovations. Sungrow has a massive R&D task force to push the boundaries of innovation and develop the most intuitive and pragmatic products of the whole industry.

With the feed-in tariffs (FiT) slashed, the dropping PPA price is poised to demand a lower system cost. Sungrow’s cutting-edge products rolled out this year include a 3.6 MW outdoor central inverter solution, well matching the local demand as it not only enables a minimized LCOE, but also can be flexibly added to solar-plus-storage plant as it is prefabricated with inputs for DC-coupled storage solutions.

The Company also undertook several unique marketing campaigns as a response to COVID-19. «There’s a massive shift to online with everything. We took this year to navigate a more diverse range of marketing channels to provide practical advice and examples that customers can benefit from,» said Hank Wang. The Company took the initiative to display latest products in a semi-truck for roadshows during the fourth quarter of 2020, attracting hundreds of customers while keeping the social distancing among the pandemic across 19 American cities.

Make 2021 a breakthrough

The global environment projection is navigating near-term uncertainty, which will require more efforts and supportive policy to the pace of the recovery worldwide. That being said, the deep decarbonization of the power generation industry is in full swing.

Sungrow continues to embrace the growth potential of the global market in support of low-carbon lifestyles and the clean energy action plan in different countries. «Success hinges on sustainability. Sungrow has enormous potential to unlock future innovations,» commented Hank Wang.

The Company stated that it is poised to meet the booming demands as it races to offer the best practices to secure the benefits for the stakeholders, backed by continued innovations and trustworthy delivery capability and a more comprehensive team spanning across the Americas, offering industry-leading service responsively. It also shows robust momentum in the path toward adding more solar-plus-storage applications.

(Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 into law. Notably, H.R. 6395 became law on January 1, 2021 without President Trump’s vote after Congress successfully passed override measures after the President’s veto of the defense bill.

Along with matters relating to the U.S. Department of Defense funding authorizations, the NDAA includes provisions the late Representative Elijah Cummings introduced that passed overwhelmingly in the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2019. Expressly, the provisions serve to combat federal workplace discrimination and retaliation against whistleblowers.

«We are grateful our lawmakers came together in a bipartisan way to include the equal employment opportunity reforms the late Representative Elijah Cummings championed within the NDAA,» said Tanya Ward Jordan, President of the Coalition For Change, Inc. (C4C). «To best defend our national security, America must protect our service members and our civil servants who keep our citizens safe.» {See Representative Cummings initial introduction of EEO reforms in H.R. 1557 https://youtu.be/IATLKiO7i5Y}

«As the C4C celebrates the bill’s passage, we also salute the invaluable leadership of the late Congressman Elijah Cummings,» said Paulette Taylor, a disabled veteran, and the C4C’s Civil Rights Chair. «Throughout his stellar career, he championed the cause of both our military and federal employees, who serve to uphold the public trust. President Ward Jordan and I are honored to have known him. Equally, we are most appreciative that he allowed the C4C to provide invaluable input to what is now known as the Elijah Cummings Federal Employee Anti-Discrimination Act. The EEO reforms, which the C4C recommended and the late Representative Cummings introduced, are a part of this historic law.»

AMHERST, Va., Jan. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Got Freedom?, a 501(c)4 nonprofit election integrity watchdog group, conducted an exclusive national briefing today at the request of state legislators from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to review the extensive evidence of irregularities and lawlessness in the 2020 presidential election. A similar briefing is being scheduled in Washington, D.C. at the request of Members of Congress.

The documentation discussed during the briefing — which includes more than 1,400 pages of material — is being made available for public consumption at https://got-freedom.org/evidence/.

Nearly 300 state lawmakers and others participated in the briefing, which also featured an address by President Trump. Also on the call were Rudy Giuliani; professor of law John Eastman; Peter Navarro, Assistant to the President for Trade and Manufacturing (appearing in his personal capacity), and John Lott, Senior Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice (also appearing in his personal capacity).

«This information should serve as an important resource for state legislators as they make calls for state legislatures to meet to investigate the election and consider decertifying their state election results,» said Phill Kline, who hosted the call on behalf of Got Freedom?. «The integrity of our elections is far too important to treat cavalierly, and elected officials deserve to have all relevant information at their disposal as they consider whether to accept the reported results of the 2020 elections, especially in states where the process was influenced by private interests.»

The evidence discussed includes unprecedented public-private partnerships that created a two-tiered election system in the states that determined the winner of the Electoral College. Funded by over $400 million from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, these public-private partnerships sought to boost turnout in Democratic strongholds while depressing turnout in conservative areas, violating constitutional guarantees of due process and equal protection.

The private monies paid the salaries of election workers and funded the purchase of election equipment, but came with strict conditions on the conduct of elections in jurisdictions that accepted the money. These private interventions were aided by the actions of public officials, who sought to undermine transparency, fought efforts to audit the results, threatened legislators with investigation and prosecution for questioning the reported results, and in some cases even physically prevented state lawmakers from entering the Capitol Building in order to prevent them from challenging election certification.

«The American people, along with their elected representatives at the state and federal level, deserve full access to the evidence we’ve uncovered,» Kline said. «We’re pleased to provide this information so that those who develop policy and make decisions will have all the relevant information available to them.»

Luna Global Networks Applauds Congress Enacting Law to End Anonymous Companies Undermining National Security

WASHINGTON, Jan. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Luna Global Networks applauds Congress overriding the President’s veto on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2021. On Jan. 1, the US Senate overrode the President’s veto on the NDAA. This historic anti-corruption legislation ending anonymous companies in the United States passed by both Chambers of Congress is now law.

Illicit trade, which includes a convergence of numerous trafficking, smuggling, financial and cyber crimes, fuels a multi-trillion-dollar illegal economy globally every year. While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought economic malaise to most sectors, the illicit economy is booming. This is especially true across e-commerce marketplaces that are generating tremendous prosperity for scammers, fraudsters, kleptocrats, organized criminals, terrorists, and other threat networks.

Fortunately, the newly-enacted law will attack a critical vulnerability of this illicit economy: anonymous shell companies. This will level the playing field for many legitimate businesses and industries across the country that get harmed, for example, by counterfeiters and online criminals. Included as part of the NDAA — which President Trump had inexplicably vetoed — is the Corporate Transparency Act, which will modernize our nation’s anti-money laundering rules and help law enforcement identify the true, or «beneficial» owner of a company at the time of its formation. Such data will help US officials fight corruption, organized crime, and terrorism.

«Through the use of anonymous shell companies, criminals have avoided detection in ways that have financed other threats and harmed American consumers, including through the sale and trafficking of counterfeit medicines from India and China worth hundreds of millions of dollars including those used to treat breast cancer, cholesterol, high blood pressure, and other serious health conditions; knock-off parts across the Pentagon’s supply chains that have cost the US military tens of millions of dollars and put our soldiers at risk; and other contraband that finance insecurity that undermines US foreign policy and national security interests,» said David M. Luna, CEO & President of LGN.

Terrorist groups also manipulate anonymous shell companies to finance their infrastructure, operations, and campaigns of terror in the US and internationally. Oligarchs do as well, including those aligned with adversarial countries that are conducting massive cyberattacks against our government and private sector as reported in recent weeks.

Congressional leadership in overriding the president’s veto and enacting this important legislation into law helps to not only protect our businesses and keep consumers safe and healthy, but will also give our law enforcement agencies the authorities and tools needed to protect our homeland, markets, and communities against determined bad actors and threat networks.

David M. Lunaformer US diplomat and national security official, is President and CEO of Luna Global Networks & Convergence Strategies LLC.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today applauded Congress for enacting the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), legislation that includes Title XCIX, «Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors for America,» which authorizes federal incentives to promote semiconductor manufacturing and federal investments in semiconductor research. SIA represents 98 percent of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.

«Enactment of the NDAA will help propel U.S. economic growth and cement America’s position at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, which is critical to the game-changing technologies of today and the future,» said Bob Bruggeworth, President, CEO, and Director of Qorvo and SIA Chair. «The next step is for leaders in Washington to fully fund the NDAA’s domestic chip manufacturing incentives and research initiatives. Doing so will make America one of the world’s most attractive places to produce this foundational technology.»

The provisions authorized by the NDAA must still be funded through appropriations made by Congress. SIA and the Boston Consulting Group released a study in September finding robust federal incentives for domestic semiconductor manufacturing would reverse the decades-long trajectory of declining chip production in America and create as many as 19 major semiconductor manufacturing facilities, or fabs, and 70,000 high-paying jobs in the U.S. over the next 10 years. A separate SIA report released in June found federal funding for semiconductor research generates an outstanding return on investment for taxpayers, with each additional dollar invested adding $16.50 to U.S. gross domestic product.

«The semiconductor provisions in the NDAA will strengthen the U.S. economy, our national security, and our leadership in chips and the many technologies they enable,» said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. «We applaud the leadership and dedication of the provisions’ champions in Congress, a bipartisan group led by Sens. Cornyn, Warner, Cotton, and Schumer in the Senate and Reps. Matsui and McCaul in the House. Now it’s critical for leaders in Washington to put these provisions into action by fully funding them, and we stand ready to work with policymakers to make that a reality.»

Georgia Power prepared for possible severe weather Friday

ATLANTA, Dec. 31, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Georgia Power is actively monitoring changing weather conditions and the company is offering important safety tips and storm resources as storms are predicted to impact the state New Year’s Day.

ATLANTA, Dec. 31, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Georgia Power is actively monitoring changing weather conditions and the company is offering important safety tips and storm resources as storms are predicted to impact the state New Year’s Day.

Due to the potential of heavy rain and saturated soil the storms are likely to bring down trees that could cause outages. Customers are encouraged to use this time to prepare and keep safety in mind.

As severe weather can happen at any time of year, the company offers the following storm tips:

  • Before a Storm:  Know your risks of flooding. Check your emergency kit, unplug major appliances and charge cell phones in case you lose power.
  • During a Storm: Take safe shelter inside a sturdy building away from windows and doors. Avoid contact with conductors of electricity – appliances, metal objects and water.
  • After a Storm: Never touch any downed or low-hanging wire, including telephone or TV wires that touch a power line. Never pull tree limbs off of power lines yourself or enter areas with debris or downed trees as downed power lines may be buried in wreckage.

Storm Response Pandemic Preparations
Georgia Power constantly monitors changing weather conditions and is prepared to respond to service interruptions that might occur because of severe weather while taking proactive actions including special «distancing» and other precautions to help protect customers and employees from the spread of the virus.

The company’s investments in Smart Grid technology and increased automation in recent years mean an increased ability to more quickly isolate outages to smaller numbers of customers and reroute power remotely for improved reliability. In addition, the company’s comprehensive pandemic plans help ensure readiness of the critical personnel and facilities necessary to continue providing the safe and reliable energy customers expect and deserve.

In the field, the power restoration process includes these key steps:

  • Assessing Conditions – Responding crews – or in major storms, damage assessment teams – work to identify trouble spots and the resources needed to fix them, which could involve coming onto customers’ property. Crews will employ appropriate distancing efforts and customers are asked to keep children and pets indoors and maintain safe distances from crew members as well.
  • Making Repairs – Georgia Power crews focus on repairs that return power to the greatest number of customers in the least amount of time.

Ways you can help keep workers safe while they work in the field:

  • If you see utility crews, please stay back a minimum of six feet – much more if they are working.
  • Please, no cookies or treats for workers during this time. Give a wave or thumbs up to workers you see. They’ll understand your gratitude as they work to keep the lights on.
  • Don’t touch utility trucks or equipment. Electric providers are operating under modified conditions to keep workers safe, which includes additional cleaning and sanitation of tools and equipment.
