Throughout the record-breaking demand response season, Enel X and its commercial and industrial customers delivered critical resources to the grid in more than 500 demand response events. Increasingly, Enel X demand response portfolios are comprised of multiple resource types, including traditional load curtailment from customers, alongside newer technologies like distributed energy storage and flexible EV charging infrastructure. During a heat wave in New York in July, Enel X dispatched its front-of-the-meter battery storage system in Brooklyn, delivering more than 188,000 kWh to the grid. In California in August, a heat wave combined with wildfires resulted in rolling blackouts, during which Enel X provided between 150 MW-200 MW of flexible load to the grid daily from both demand response customers and EV chargers, playing an important role in mitigating blackouts over a multi-day period. By participating in demand response programs, customers earn payments by reducing their energy load during periods of peak demand. This year, Enel X North America demand response customers earned more than $100 million by curtailing more than 500 GWh, while supporting the reliability of their local grids during dispatch events.

Storage
In 2020, Enel X more than doubled its portfolio of operational battery storage projects and signed new contracts totaling more than 54 MWh across the US and Canada, including a new microgrid project in Puerto Rico. The storage business also established a joint venture with Ardian Infrastructure, a global private investment house, to accelerate the development of battery storage in Ontario, where the company grew its portfolio by 65%. Enel X North America now has more than 160 MWh of battery storage projects across the US and Canada.

EV Smart Charging and Transit Electrification
The company launched a new line of electric vehicle smart charging solutions and grew its portfolio of utility smart charging partners to more than 40, with over 60,000 residential and commercial smart charging stations deployed across North America. JuiceNet, the smart EV charging software platform, that optimizes the energy consumption of Enel X’s charging stations to charge vehicles when electricity prices are lowest and availability of renewable energy is highest on the grid, manages a 70+ MW virtual battery in California.

Additionally, Enel X North America partnered with a number of Fortune 1000 companies for fleet electrification, including Vestas and Uber, which now offers drivers who use the Uber platform access to 100% clean driving through the launch of JuiceEco Green-e® certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). JuiceEco matches the consumption of any EV anywhere in the US with carbon-free electricity. Expanding upon its smart charging leadership, Enel X entered the public transit electrification market through a pair of grants from the MassCEC. Demand Response and Energy Services
The company continued to grow its utility demand response portfolio, adding more than 200 MW through utility programs, including a program with Salt River Project in Arizona, launched earlier this year and signed contracts with businesses totaling more than 550 MW of dispatchable capacity. Enel X provides C&I demand response resources to more than 20 utilities across North America managing more than 600 MW of dispatchable demand response in utility programs alone in which Enel X is the exclusive provider to the utility.

(FDA, por sus siglas en inglés) emitió una autorización de uso de emergencia (EUA, por sus siglas en inglés) para la primera prueba diagnóstica para el COVID-19 de venta libre realizada totalmente en el hogar. La prueba realizada en el hogar para el COVID-19 de Ellume es una prueba rápida de antígeno de flujo lateral, un tipo de prueba que pasa una muestra líquida a lo largo de una superficie con moléculas reactivas. La prueba detecta fragmentos de proteínas del virus del SARS-CoV-2 en una muestra de hisopo nasal de cualquier individuo mayor de 2 años de edad.

El anuncio de hoy de la primera prueba diagnóstica para el COVID-19 de venta libre realizada totalmente en el hogar sigue a la autorización del mes pasado de la primera prueba para el COVID-19 con receta para uso en el hogar y al anuncio de la semana pasada del primer sistema de pruebas sin receta, en el que un laboratorio procesa la muestra recogida por el propio paciente. La FDA ha autorizado más de 225 pruebas de diagnóstico para el COVID-19 desde el comienzo de la pandemia, incluyendo más de 25 pruebas que permiten la recolección de muestras en el hogar, que luego se envían a un laboratorio para su análisis. La prueba en el hogar para el COVID-19 de Ellume es la primera prueba para el COVID-19 que se puede utilizar completamente en el hogar casa sin necesidad de receta.

Similar a otras pruebas de antígenos, un pequeño porcentaje de los resultados positivos y negativos de esta prueba pueden ser falsos. Por lo tanto, en el caso de los pacientes sin síntomas, los resultados positivos deben tratarse como presuntamente positivos hasta que se confirmen mediante otra prueba lo antes posible. Esto es especialmente cierto si hay menos infecciones en una comunidad en particular, ya que los resultados positivos falsos pueden ser más comunes cuando las pruebas de antígenos se utilizan en poblaciones donde hay poco COVID-19 (baja prevalencia). 

La FDA les recuerda a los pacientes que todas las pruebas pueden dar resultados falsos negativos y falsos positivos. Los individuos con resultados positivos deben aislarse a sí mismos y buscar atención adicional de su proveedor de atención médica. Los individuos que dan negativo y experimentan síntomas similares a los del COVID deben hacer un seguimiento con su proveedor de atención médica ya que los resultados negativos no excluyen a un individuo de la infección por SARS-CoV-2. 

La prueba en el hogar para el COVID-19 de Ellume utiliza un hisopo nasal de cornete medio (la muestra se recoge más atrás que el hisopo nasal habitual, pero no tan atrás como los hisopos nasofaríngeos, que sólo son apropiados para ser utilizados por un proveedor de atención médica capacitado) para detectar ciertas proteínas del virus conocidas como antígenos. La prueba en el hogar para el COVID-19 de Ellume identificó correctamente el 96% de las muestras positivas y el 100% de las muestras negativas en individuos con síntomas. En personas sin síntomas, la prueba identificó correctamente el 91% de las muestras positivas y el 96% de las muestras negativas. La prueba en el hogar para el COVID-19 de Ellume utiliza un analizador que se conecta con una aplicación de software a un teléfono inteligente para ayudar a los usuarios a realizar la prueba e interpretar los resultados. Los resultados se envían a los individuos a través de su teléfono inteligente en tan sólo 20 minutos. La aplicación móvil requiere que las personas ingresen su código postal y fecha de nacimiento, con campos opcionales que incluyen el nombre y la dirección de correo electrónico, e informa de los resultados, según corresponda, a las autoridades de salud pública para controlar la prevalencia de la enfermedad. Ellume espera producir más de tres millones de pruebas en enero de 2021.

Sunshine Health donated money to purchase an Augmented Reality Sandbox for Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful’s new Environmental Education Center. The sandbox teaches students how trash travels and impacts the ecosystem.

Sunshine Health has always been committed to sustainability and the environment. In 2020, Sunshine Health eliminated single-use coffee cups, cutlery and paper plates from its break rooms across the state and asked employees to sign a pledge vowing to bring their own reusable cups and utensils. For every signature, the company donated $5.
