China Tire Export Industry Report 2020: Due to COVID-19, Exports are Down by 13.45 Million, or 13.70% Compared to 2019

China’s annual production of pneumatic tires was more than 800 million in 2015-2019, the highest output was 1.04 billion in 2018. Due to the upstream rubber industry and the downstream automobile industry, the tire production in 2019 had declined, only 842.26 million.

According to the analyst, the tires exported by China are new pneumatic tires, which are mainly used for passenger cars and commercial vehicles (buses and lorries). According to the analyst, from 2017 to 2019, the export volume increased from 289.59 million to 315.58 million. Affected by COVID-19 from January to April 2020, the number of tire exports is relatively small, only 84.71 million, down by 13.45 million, or 13.70% compared to the same period in 2019.

Although the volume of passenger car tire exports is more than that of commercial car tires, the amount of commercial car tire exports is higher. In 2019, the export volume of passenger car tires was 223.23 million, the value being USD 5,569.82 million, while the volume of commercial vehicle tires was 92.36 million, which was worth USD 7,350.04 million.

The export destinations of passenger car tires are always relatively scattered, with only the UK ranking the first, accounting for 8-10% of the total volume. While commercial vehicle tires were mainly exported to the United States. Even in the face of the Sino-U.S. trade war and epidemic situation, the United States was still the first export destination, accounting for 14-26% of the total volume.

China’s government encourages enterprises to export tires, while lots of other countries have raised tariffs on Chinese tires. Considering the pandemic and other factors, exports have estimated to be relatively low in 2020 and should gradually recover after 2021.

According to the analyst, the USA, the UK and Mexico are expected to be the top three export destinations in the next five years, followed by Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Edmunds analysts anticipate that 30 EVs from 21 brands will become available for sale this year, compared to 17 vehicles from 12 brands in 2020. Notably, this will be the first year that these offerings represent all three major vehicle categories: Consumers will have the choice among 11 cars, 13 SUVs and six trucks in 2021, whereas only 10 cars and seven SUVs were available last year. This diverse spread of EV offerings should help encourage stronger loyalty among EV owners, which has dwindled over the years as shoppers have gravitated toward larger vehicles. According to Edmunds data, 71% of EV owners who didn’t buy another EV traded in their vehicle for a truck or SUV in 2020, compared to 60% in 2019 and 34% in 2015.

«Americans have a love affair with trucks and SUVs, to the detriment of EVs, which have until recently been mostly passenger cars,» said Caldwell. «Automakers should have a much better shot of recapturing some of the EV buyers who they’ve lost now that they can offer larger, more utilitarian electric vehicles.»

Edmunds analysts note that this infusion of fresh new products comes at a time where the market is also seeing a positive shift in consumer interest in EVs. According to Google Trends data, consumer searches for electric trucks and SUVs have recently hit a high point after trending upward for years.

«Besides affordability, one of the biggest barriers to increased EV sales has simply been tepid consumer reception — it’s been tough for companies that aren’t Tesla to crack the code of how to get shoppers hyped up for these vehicles,» said Caldwell. «But in the past year we’ve seen automakers throw huge advertising dollars behind their EV launches in an attempt to drum up some buzz, and it’s promising that consumers seem to at least be more aware of the options out there.»

As more consumers look to EVs as a possibility for their next car purchase, Edmunds experts emphasize that shoppers should take extra time to consider their alternatives and do their research.

«Buying an EV is an entirely different beast than a traditional car purchase, so extra research and diligence are key,» said Ivan Drury, Edmunds’ senior manager of insights. «Range and weather conditions play a huge factor in determining whether certain EVs make sense for your everyday needs, and whether you own a home with a garage or rent an apartment could affect your charging situation. Federal and state tax incentives are at play with these purchases. 2021 Michelin Stars at Four Seasons

The highly anticipated Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau was announced on January 27, 2021, once again distinguishing Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong as a global culinary leader, with an impressive eight stars under one roof, the most of any hotel in Hong Kong. Chef Chan Yan Tak’s Lung King Heen*** proved again why it was the world’s first Chinese restaurant to earn three stars; Caprice***, the haute French dining experience lead by Chef Guillaume Galliot also maintained its stars, while celebrating Caprice Bar’s entry into Asia’s 50 Best Bars thanks to the creativity of Four Seasons Beverage Ambassador Lorenzo Antinori; and Sushi Saito** continues to sparkle under two stars (Chef Masashi Kubota). Terra Firma, which from Latin translates roughly to «solid earth» or «dry land,» is a reflection of the Bowlus philosophy grounded in sustainability, quality, performance, and uniqueness, with an eye for authenticity of design. The limited model also continues the Bowlus tradition of custom editions with bespoke flair, which have previously included the Lithium+, Artisanal Angler, and The Wave editions.

Exterior
Every Bowlus model begins as a hand-welded spaceframe, shaped from aluminum tubing by Bowlus artisans within 1/64th of an inch. Eighty panels of polished, high-strength aerospace aluminum are then meticulously fastened to the frame by more 5,000 aircraft-grade rivets, each scrutinized to meet aerospace specifications to be within 2/1000″ of the specification — approximately half the thickness of a human hair. Craftworkers then spend more than 100 hours polishing the exterior so the shell can get its iconic, mirror-bright reflection.

Based on the successful Endless Highways Performance Edition platform, the Terra Firma model includes as-standard two huge skylights in the main cabin and an outdoor kitchen ready setup, with electrical and propane outlets, which can additionally provide an emergency micro-charge to your electric vehicle.

The Bowlus shape always delivers superior performance with very safe road handling characteristics and, with a weight of under 3,200 lbs., it can be towed by the widest variety of vehicles of any travel trailer, including electric vehicles (EVs).
