DataOne Software and SBD Partner to Create Competitive Planning and Intelligence Solution for Manufacturers

BEVERLY, Mass., Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — DataOne Software, a Dominion Enterprises company and a leading provider of automotive data and software solutions, today announced the success of a product partnership with SBD, resulting in the company’s VehiclePlannerPlus solution.

VehiclePlannerPlus is a powerful software solution impacting OEM marketing and vehicle planning activities. The product provides a comprehensive solution for competitive intelligence and vehicle product planning, empowering automotive analysts to create, configure, and export deep insights all within a single tool. The result shortcuts the typical effort required to create complex tables and graphs to support decisions made by data analysts and planners.

While SBD had a solid foundation for the technical aspects of VehiclePlannerPlus, the team needed a data partner with exacting data sets to boost the insights provided.

«Our biggest challenge in developing our product was around the descriptions behind the normalized definitions of different features. We were building the intelligence to support the tool but needed to do a lot of work on combining features and making sure we were doing like to like comparisons. That’s where DataOne was able to shine,» said Andrew Hart, Innovation Director for SBD.

By combining DataOne’s powerful and accurate data with SBD’s strong technology, the two companies were able to bring a planning and insight solution to manufacturers that delivered insights in minutes instead of days. In addition, the companies were able to innovate for other channels like dealers and insurance providers.

«Our strong partnership with SBD led to additional opportunities within the product, beyond the original scope of the project,» said Jake Maki, President of DataOne. «We were not only able to help them bring their manufacturer solution to market, but to create revenue streams through additional channels as well. This is a great example of the advantages an innovative company can realize by working with a strong data partner.»

2021 Begins With A Sweet Win For A Pittsburgh Man Who Won The $125,000 Grand Prize In BetRivers.com And PlaySugarHouse.com Pro Football Pick’em In Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Rush Street Interactive, Inc. («RSI») (NYSE: RSI), today announced that a 37-year-old salesman from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, won the grand prize in the BetRivers.com and PlaySugarHouse.com Pro Football Pick’em.  Jason Schwartz won the guaranteed top prize of $125,000, in the overall prize pool of $500,000, for picking the most winners at the end of the season in the state’s second annual online Vegas-Style Pro Football Pick ‘em contest.

Schwartz said he couldn’t believe he actually won the contest and was in shock when he got the call that the grand prize was his.

«I never imagined this,» the 37-year-old said. «Not even in my wildest dreams. I didn’t sleep for two days.»

Schwartz started off the season by picking teams through instinct, but when he realized he might actually have a shot at winning, he spent a lot of time researching the teams and looking up different player statistics and betting lines. He plans to use the money to pay off some debts and possibly take a vacation this summer.

He attributes the win to his late grandmother, who was an avid sports bettor. Schwartz said he used to call her every Sunday to give her betting advice during the football games. This was his first NFL season without her. «I like to think she played a part in this,» Schwartz said. «It’s a bittersweet win.»

Each week of the NFL season, players picked the winners of Sunday and Monday pro football games and whoever picked the most winners at the end of the season collected the guaranteed $125,000 prize. Overall, the top 500 pick’em winners were paid out cash winnings at the season’s end, in addition to the top weekly score on each site earning $2,500 each week. The entrant with the most incorrect picks also received a $2,500 payout.  In all, $500,000 was paid to entrants.

Following the success of the first pick’em contest last NFL season, Rush Street Interactive, the digital sports wagering and gaming supplier of Pennsylvania’s first two online gaming sites, was excited to once again offer NFL fans a rewarding way to show off their pro football knowledge.

«This was certainly an unusual NFL season, and this was a great way for sports betting fans to stay involved and get in on the game action,» said Mattias Stetz, C.O.O. of Rush Street Interactive, which operates BetRivers.com and PlaySugarHouse.com.  «After seeing its popularity last season, we were excited to offer this Pick ‘em contest again. We love when our players win huge cash prizes.»

Electric VTOL Aircraft Developments Advancing Despite Pandemic

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Vertical Flight Society (VFS), the world’s leading non-profit organization working to advance vertical flight, reports today that the growth of world’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developments have continued apace despite the global pandemic.

«This past year saw continued growth and progress in eVTOL developments,» said Mike Hirschberg, VFS Executive Director. «Our members in industry, academia and government agencies around the world have been tackling the toughest challenges in vertical flight, proving out the promise of this new approach to air mobility.»

Even while the commercial aviation industry saw massive economic impacts, investment in eVTOL has continued at the rate of about $1B per year. Some $5B has been invested into eVTOL aircraft and systems development to date, with much of the funding coming from outside of the traditional aerospace industry. The eVTOL industry has grown at an exponential pace with thousands of engineers, programmers and technologists now employed by eVTOL developers worldwide.

Nearly 250 companies and innovators have been studying the promise and challenges of eVTOL, with more than 400 eVTOL aircraft concepts now catalogued by VFS. Two dozen companies are now known to be flying full-scale or large-scale multi-passenger eVTOL aircraft. Last year saw a number of first flights, as well as a significant increase in flight-testing — demonstrating electric VTOL capabilities and expanded the aircraft performance envelopes.

Annual Electric VTOL Symposium

VFS has been at the forefront of what it calls the «Electric VTOL Revolution» since 2014 when it held the world’s first meeting of the eVTOL development community. Later this month, the Society’s 8th Annual Electric VTOL Symposium — being held online Jan. 26–28 in conjunction with its 9th Biennial Autonomous VTOL Technical Meeting — continues as the world’s largest and longest-running event focusing on the incredible promise, progress and challenges of eVTOL aircraft.

As in previous years, the annual symposium will present the latest insights, trends and progress in eVTOL developments. This month’s symposium features keynote presentations by government leaders from NASA, the US Army, US Air Force and the FAA, as well as industry keynotes from Boeing, Joby Aviation and Honeywell executives. More than 50 additional VIP speakers and panelists in the symposium cover important topics regarding electric VTOL, while 25 technical papers on drones, autonomy and advanced air mobility (AAM) will be presented as part of the Autonomous VTOL Technical Meeting. Details are available at http://www.vtol.org/eVTOL2021.

When VFS launched the first meeting in 2014, the idea of electric VTOL aircraft was greeted with widespread skepticism, but growing technical progress, flight demonstrations, government validation and private investment have helped reverse public perception. It is now recognized that the vertical flight market is poised for significant expansion over the next few years as eVTOL aircraft enter service that can have higher performance than conventional helicopters for certain missions, as well as lower operating costs and lower noise.

Exponential Growth Continues in the eVTOL Industry

As of today, the Society has cataloged 407 different electric VTOL concepts from 245 companies and innovators on its authoritative World eVTOL Aircraft Directory at http://www.evtol.news. More than 150 new designs were added in 2020. When VFS launched the site in April 2017, only a dozen eVTOL programs were under development. The site now also includes 435 eVTOL news stories, including some 200 in-depth articles from the Society’s Vertiflite magazine, the leading periodical on eVTOL and rotorcraft developments.

VFS has also seen record growth in corporate members continue. As of Jan. 1, more than 135 companies are now members of VFS, a 15% growth over 2020 and a doubling over the past five years. Much of this growth in members is due to the extensive support efforts and resources that VFS provides to the eVTOL industry, including technical resources, talent acquisition, educational opportunities and networking.

«Despite the pandemic, or perhaps because of it, companies around the world that are seeking to succeed with eVTOL technologies turn to VFS,» said Hirschberg. «We have been leading efforts to advance electric vertical flight for the past seven years and have been working tirelessly to expand the eVTOL community.»

VFS was founded as the American Helicopter Society in 1943 by the visionaries of the early helicopter industry, who believed that technological cooperation and collaboration were essential to support this new type of aircraft. Today, history is repeating itself, with VFS playing a similar role helping to advance today’s revolutionary eVTOL aircraft.

VFS holds the largest and longest-running vertical flight technical conference in the world, which this year will be its 77th Annual Forum & Technology Display on May 11-13, 2021, which is planned for West Palm Beach, Florida: http://www.vtol.org/forum.

Statement from Dr. Miriam Adelson on the passing of her husband, Sheldon G. Adelson

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. Miriam Adelson released the following statement on the death of her husband and Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon G. Adelson:

It is with unbearable pain that I announce the death of my husband, Sheldon G. Adelson, of complications from a long illness.

Sheldon was the love of my life. He was my partner in romance, philanthropy, political activism and enterprise. He was my soulmate.

To me – as to his children, grandchildren, and his legions of friends and admirers, employees and colleagues – he is utterly irreplaceable.

Much has been written and said about how Sheldon, the son of poor immigrants, rose to the pinnacle of business success on the strength of grit and genius, inspiration and integrity. His was an all-American story of entrepreneurship. When Sheldon launched a new venture, the world looked on with anticipation.

In our amazing 32-year adventure together, I was fortunate to witness the beauty of Sheldon’s private side.

He was an American patriot: a U.S. Army veteran who gave generously to wounded warriors and, wherever he could, looked to the advancement of these great United States. He was the proudest of Jews, who saw in the State of Israel not only the realization of an historical promise to a unique and deserving people, but also a gift from the Almighty to all of humanity.

And Sheldon was kind. He gave readily of his fortune to charitable causes that may literally be countless, as he expected no credit and often preferred anonymity. Although bluff in build and speech – and, in the last two decades, beset by painful sickness – Sheldon was always sensitive to the needs of others.

Visit any of our hotels and you will immediately notice the extraordinarily high ceilings, exquisitely designed by Sheldon at a sacrifice of lucrative space. He wanted all of our guests – no matter their means – to feel like kings, to breathe free in gorgeous tranquility. When the COVID-19 crisis hit and those hotels went dark, he insisted that our tens of thousands of Team Members continue getting their wages and medical insurance.

Each of those people, and millions of other beneficiaries of Sheldon’s largesse, are his testimonials.

But he went beyond bettering the lives of individuals: He crafted the course of nations. Some of the historical changes that he helped effect – in the United States, Israel and elsewhere – are publicly known. Others are not. For Sheldon, recognition of his own indispensable role was unimportant. What counted was that good be done. He cared about standing up for what was right, even if that meant standing alone. His ideal day’s end was in the company of family and friends, not statesmen or celebrities.

Sheldon and I grew up on coasts: him in Boston, me in Haifa. Together we sailed across oceans, pushed back the Pearl River Delta to help develop Macao’s future, recreated the Venice lagoon canals in Las Vegas. To me, Sheldon had power and depth and mystery like the sea. His devotion lifted me up, like waves, through challenges both personal and professional.

And now he is gone. The supporting waters have vanished heavenward. Only a vast, dry seabed remains. The loss is colossal.

Farewell, my darling, my one true love. After gaining and giving so much, you have earned this rest.

— Dr. Miriam Adelson

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Las Vegas Sands issued the following statement announcing the death of company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon G. Adelson:

Our founder and visionary leader, Sheldon G. Adelson, passed away last night at the age of 87 from complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  Born to immigrant parents and raised in a poor section of Boston, Mr. Adelson went from a teenager selling newspapers on a street corner to becoming one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs.

His achievements in the integrated resort and hospitality industry are well-documented.  In Las Vegas, Macao and Singapore, Mr. Adelson’s vision for integrated resorts transformed the industry, changed the trajectory of the company he founded, and reimagined tourism in each of those markets.  His impact on the industry will be everlasting.

Mr. Adelson was the first employee of Las Vegas Sands – «Team Member Number One» he liked to say.  Today, more than 50,000 Sands team members have Dr. Adelson and the entire Adelson family in their thoughts and prayers and are grateful to have had their lives touched by a true force of nature.

When the pandemic disrupted daily routines and dramatically impacted his business, Mr. Adelson was adamant that our Team Members across the globe continue to receive full pay and health care benefits even while the buildings in which they worked were closed.  There are countless additional untold stories of his warmth and generosity – efforts for which he never sought recognition or publicity and would only reply with a smile if asked about them.

While his business credentials – having started or been involved in more than 50 different enterprises – are unquestioned, his dedication to philanthropy and commitment to his family will truly be his legacy.  He will be missed by people from all parts of the world who were touched by his generosity, kindness, intellect and wonderful sense of humor.

The Adelson family asks for privacy as they mourn Mr. Adelson’s passing.  A funeral will be held in Israel, the birthplace of Dr. Miriam Adelson, with plans for a memorial service held in Las Vegas to be announced at a later date.

Our engineering team has constructed functional prototypes of proprietary energy capture devices, coupled with an advanced drivetrain control system based on the Company’s intellectual property and incorporated them on the new chassis. ZEV’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Damon Kuhn and Vice President of Electrical Engineering, Rick Lewis led a celebration of the Company’s engineering advances, during the December 14th unveil in which customers, investors, and ZEV partners witnessed the display of advanced technologies on the modular-chassis platform.

«Rapid prototyping relies on expert knowledge of 3D computer aided design using the most advanced additive manufacturing techniques and 3D printers to create engineering sub-assemblies for detailed engineering simulation analysis and live road testing. The ZEV team uses this engineering construct, among others to quickly develop the chassis and range extension devices that will ultimately reduce parasitic loss during vehicle operation», said Charles Maury, Chief Scientist.  ZEV began chassis prototype fabrication on October 5th of 2020, and released their completed passenger vehicle chassis on December 14th of 2020, setting the tone for accelerated prototype execution rates within the ZEV working environment.  ZEV and their core group of partners have shown adaptability in times of constant change, enabling the team to strive towards their goal of producing the most efficient platform in the automotive market.  ZEV CTO, Damon Kuhn said, «every functional component incorporated on our vehicle platform, regardless of class, will have been examined thoroughly to determine adequate efficiency in relation to current industry standard.»  This ensures quality manufacturing amidst the rapid prototyping development environment, while delivering production ready chassis ahead of its competitors.

ZEV’s engineering team continues to execute on crucial deadlines that define the company’s hunger for innovation and improvement defining the EV2.0 movement.  ZEV’s adaptive platform allows for an expansion of customers and partners, showcased on the passenger vehicle chassis, and provides an open runway towards road testing in early Q1 of 2021 during which live testing of multi-vehicle configurations will be demonstrated to assess the chassis’ range & performance.

ZEV’s CEO, Carolyn Maury states, «our ZEV family has been in non-stop execution mode to provide real substance to a market that requires fundamental change and innovation.  Our team is determined to deliver on our technical maturation roadmap and provide the most optimized product we can for our customers and shareholders. Every step we take is positioned towards the creation and advancement of an EV2.0 product, we hold ourselves to the highest standard to earn the trust of our customers and partners in a market that requires authenticity.»

CHARLOTTE, Mich., Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Shyft Group (Nasdaq: SHYF) («Shyft» or the «Company»), North America’s leader in specialty vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and upfit for ecommerce-driven parcel delivery, as well as the broader commercial, retail, and service specialty…

CHARLOTTE, Mich., Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Shyft Group (Nasdaq: SHYF) («Shyft» or the «Company»), North America’s leader in specialty vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and upfit for ecommerce-driven parcel delivery, as well as the broader commercial, retail, and service specialty vehicle markets, seeks to hire new manufacturing employees at its Charlotte, Michigan, campus in the coming months as the company continues to receive new vehicle orders and ramps towards production of its all new Velocity F2 walk-in van, which is set to begin delivering to customers in March. Demand for Shyft’s proprietary parcel fleet designs continues to grow based on expanding e-commerce, last mile home delivery.

Shyft is an employer of choice with market competitive pay, benefits from day one, and 80 hours of holiday pay. Shyft is committed to the long-term health, wellness, and development of its employees through full medical, vision and dental insurance, 401(k) with a strong company match, and ongoing training opportunities. Employment opportunities are updated daily at www.TheShyftGroup.com/Careers.

«The Shyft Group has a long-standing history in Charlotte as it has served as our home base for more than 40 years,» said Daryl Adams, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Shyft Group. «Today, we have plants all over the country in which we build last mile delivery vehicles. We choose to reinvest in Charlotte as a declaration of our commitment to our existing campus, this region, and our highly skilled workforce.»

As part of this expansion, Shyft is pursuing State incentives for facility upgrades and workforce training, as they ramp up production and hire accordingly. Shyft credits State Rep. Angela Witwer and Sen. Tom Barrett for partnering to find solutions to keep these new jobs in-state. Additionally, the Company praises the ongoing efforts of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership for its support and multitude of contributions to the growth of its Charlotte campus.

«Our Utilimaster brand continues to see unprecedented growth as the retail landscape shifts online and purchases now more than ever arrive at home,» said Chad Heminover, President, Shyft Fleet Vehicles & Services. «We’ve built a network of flexible manufacturing facilities across the nation that uniquely position us to meet changing customer demands by building virtually any of our vehicles from any of our plants. Our Velocity F2 walk-in van is a great example of this as it has already seen incredible adoption since its introduction just three months ago. We’ll tap into our flexible manufacturing footprint as it is designed, and leverage the Charlotte campus and growing workforce to successfully meet this new demand.»

Utilimaster introduced the Velocity F2 in October, its latest production-ready, purpose-built delivery vehicle. This sub-10,000 GVWR, Class 2 walk-in van combines nimbleness, comfort, and fuel efficiency with the cargo space, access, and load capacity similar to a traditional delivery van.

Utilimaster, a go-to-market brand of The Shyft Group, builds and upfits walk-in vans, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and cargo vans to service parcel, food and beverage, linen and laundry, and other product and serviced-based delivery markets through its proprietary Work-Driven Design® process. This past June, the broader company rebranded to The Shyft Group, to better reflect its next phase of business transformation and focus on high-growth commercial, retail, and service specialty vehicle markets, following the divestiture of its fire truck business.

The Shyft Group
The Shyft Group is the North American leader in specialty vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and upfit for the commercial, retail, and service specialty vehicle markets.
