15.6 Million Passengers Pass Through Sheremetyevo Airport in First Nine Months of 2020

MOSCOW, Oct. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Sheremetyevo International Airport served 15,606,000 people from January through September of 2020. There were 145,368 take-off and landing operations in the same nine-month period.

MOSCOW, Oct. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Sheremetyevo International Airport served 15,606,000 people from January through September of 2020. There were 145,368 take-off and landing operations in the same nine-month period.

The largest contributors to the growth of Sheremetyevo’s passenger traffic in this period were Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya, Ikar, Royal Flight and Air France.

Sheremetyevo’s passenger traffic in the third quarter was 476% higher than in the second quarter, totaling 5.837 million people. This growth was due to the high demand for flights to popular Russian domestic resort destinations, as well as the partial resumption of regular international flights, including popular tourist destinations in Turkey.

The number of passengers served on domestic airlines reached 4.967 million, an increase of 424% over the second quarter. Growth was due mostly to an increase in demand for flights to Sochi, Simferopol and Anapa. In the third quarter, passenger traffic on international airlines amounted to 869,930 people, which is 1,225% more than in the second quarter. The greatest demand was for flights to destinations such as Antalya, Istanbul and London.

The airport served 2.156 million passengers in the month of September, when there were 15,878 take-off and landing operations. 

Sheremetyevo International Airport is among the TOP-10 airport hubs in Europe, the largest Russian airport in terms of passenger and cargo traffic. The route network comprises more than 230 destinations. In 2019, the airport served 49 million 933 thousand passengers, which is 8.9% more than in 2018. Sheremetyevo is the best airport in terms of the quality of services in Europe, the absolute world leader in punctuality of flights, the owner of the highest 5-star Skytrax rating.

The latest version of the complete C/C++ compiler and debugger toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench® for Renesas RH850 can now optionally generate position-independent code and/or position-independent data.

    The added functionality is very useful in systems where applications are loaded dynamically. When using position-independent code and read-only data (ROPI), the compiler in IAR Embedded Workbench for RH850 will generate code that uses PC-relative references for addressing code and read-only data. Even though the linker places the code and read-only data at fixed locations, the application will still be executed correctly when the image is placed at a different address. Typical use cases for dynamically loaded applications within the automotive industry include, for example, when using the capability of the application to upgrade its own firmware over CAN (Controller Area Network). 

    Through IAR Embedded Workbench, IAR Systems provides its customers with the market’s most diverse MCU support as well as adapted licensing options to fit different organizations’ needs, including a functional safety edition certified by TÜV SÜD according to IEC 61508, ISO 26262 and EN 50128. This flexibility is extended to the build environment as the build tools supports implementation in Linux-based frameworks for automated application build and test processes. The tools enable large-scale deployments of critical software building and testing and are suitable for installations ranging from a few licenses on a small build server, to massive installations with several hundreds of parallel builds active at the same time.

It also included remarks by writer and actress Anna Deavere Smith and a performance by spoken word artist Charity Blackwell, as well as a musical performance from Renee Fleming, a freestyle hip hop performance from rapper Christylez Bacon, and a poetic dedication written for the occasion by Naomi Shihab Nye. Planet Word supporters including former President Barack Obama, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Grammy-winning musician Paul Simon also made surprise virtual appearances.

    Planet Word is the world’s first major museum taking a high-tech approach to bringing language to life. It features ten immersive learning galleries designed by exhibit design firm Local Projects which use technology in imaginative, ingenious ways to reimagine the modern museum experience. Among the museum’s voice-activated exhibits is «Where Do Words Come From?», a 22-foot-tall talking word wall that shares the story of the English language through a conversation with visitors and extraordinary light effects. The metal sculpture, resembling a weeping willow, plays voice recordings from hundreds of different languages as visitors pass underneath its branches.
