For the automotive and transportation markets, custom metal stamped busbars of different sizes and complexities are required to transmit current from high-powered battery packs to a variety of electrical applications, including the engine itself and such electric-powered features as sunroofs, sensors, communications, windows, remote control, and anti-lock braking systems. The most commonly used materials for automotive metal stamped busbars are conductive alloys such as copper, bronze and aluminum. Due to the complexity of busbar assemblies for electric vehicles, many automotive OEMs and Tier 1 and 2 suppliers choose to start with a prototype busbar. BRUSSELS, Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Flight Safety Foundation announced a collaborative initiative to work with several leading international humanitarian relief organizations to facilitate and promote the safe use of unmanned aircraft systems to support humanitarian operations. The multilateral collaborative effort, with initial participation by the U.N. World Food Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Medecins Sans Frontieres, was announced today in conjunction with the Foundation’s virtual 73rd annual International Air Safety Summit.

«Unmanned autonomous and semi-autonomous flight operations are increasingly important to humanitarian relief operations around the world because they can be used to transport desperately needed food and medical supplies, to enhance communications and for data gathering, among other missions,» said Foundation President and CEO Dr. Hassan Shahidi.

Unmanned aircraft systems are expected to play a role with global humanitarian organizations responding to the pandemic. «Once a COVID-19 vaccine is developed, this rapidly evolving technology may prove essential for delivering vaccine to vulnerable communities in remote areas,» said Shahidi. «There is no higher calling than savings lives and helping the vulnerable. The Foundation is looking forward to working closely with our partners to answer this call.»

The Foundation and its partners will collaborate to promote the safe application of unmanned systems in humanitarian missions; to provide a global platform for dialogue and information sharing on safety issues that may develop; to facilitate the sharing of best practices; to advance drone training and licensing standards; and to develop protocols for drone integration into the airspace.

The Foundation’s newly formed Autonomous and Remotely Piloted Aviation Systems (ARPAS) Advisory Committee will play a key role in supporting this collaboration.

Smarkets: Biden’s lead in prediction markets cut by Trump during record period for political betting

LONDON, Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Democratic challenger Joe Biden leads Donald Trump going into the final two weeks of the US presidential election race, but Trump has closed the gap, according to data from the Smarkets betting exchange.

In a betting market with £9.9m ($12.8m) traded already, Biden’s price reflects a 63% chance of victory, with Trump at 37%. On Smarkets, customers trade against each other on the outcome of political events and the odds move accordingly.

While these odds clearly suggest that Trump is up against it, he is closer in the betting than on other forecasting models, such as Nate Silver’s poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight which puts Biden at 88% likely to win.

Biden’s lead on Smarkets reached 42 percentage points (71% vs. 29%) last week but Trump has narrowed the gap recently behind a huge increase in betting volume. October is already Smarkets’ most-traded month ever for political betting with £3.8m of volume (192% increase on previous record).

Working with renowned electric vehicle infrastructure pioneer Green Motion, the Automobili Pininfarina badged 22kW AC wall box (up to 7.2kW in North America) is constructed using recycled and organic materials.

The Residenza will be capable of fully charging the Battista’s 120 kWh Li-ion battery pack in six hours, making it perfect for overnight top-ups and providing the 500 km (310 miles) WLTP expected range, ensuring it is the ultimate everyday hyper GT for all occasions.

For charging on the move, Automobili Pininfarina has announced a partnership with one of the world’s largest electric vehicle charging networks, ChargePoint. The collaboration will provide Battista customers with five years of unlimited public charging at no extra cost to ensure they are fully supported.

Battista owners will have access to most of ChargePoint’s network of approximately 115,000 places to charge across North America and Europe as well as more than 133,000 charging spots through roaming integrations with other charging network providers. Using a 180kW DC-charging system, owners will be able to charge their Battista from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes.
