Company issues update to its August 17 announcement

MIAMI, Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — As earlier disclosed, Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK) detected unauthorized third-party access to portions of the company’s information technology systems on August 15, 2020. Information Security at Carnival Corporation acted quickly to shut down the intrusion, restore operations and prevent further unauthorized access. The company also engaged a major cybersecurity firm to investigate the matter and notified law enforcement and appropriate regulators of the event.

While the investigation is ongoing, early indications are that in early August the unauthorized third party gained access to certain personal information relating to some guests, employees and crew for three of the corporation’s brands — Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn, as well as casino operations. Working with its cybersecurity consultants, the company took steps to recover its files and has evidence indicating a low likelihood of the data being misused.

The company is working as quickly as possible to identify the guests, employees, crew and other individuals whose personal information may have been impacted. The company expects to complete this process within the next 30 to 60 days and will then send notifications to potentially affected individuals whose current contact information is available to the company. Along with those individual notices, affected individuals will be offered complimentary credit monitoring, as appropriate.

Meanwhile, the company has posted website notices and established a dedicated call center to answer questions regarding the event. When the investigation is complete, callers may confirm whether or not their information was affected.

Additional information about the event is available at www.hollandamerica.com, www.carnival.com, www.seabourn.com, or www.oceanplayersclub.com. The call center is available toll-free in the U.S. at +1. 888.905.0687, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), Monday through Friday. Individuals outside the U.S. may email questions to cruisedataevent@cyberscout.com, as well as request that a call center representative respond back by phone.

As part of its ongoing operations, the company is continuing to review security and privacy policies and procedures and implementing changes when needed to enhance information security and privacy controls.

Electrify America Invests in Six California Organizations to Drive Brand-Neutral Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness and Education in Low-Income and Disadvantaged Communities

RESTON, Va., Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Electrify America is investing $3 million to provide education and awareness programs for low-income and disadvantaged communities throughout California on the benefits of driving zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) and available cash incentives.

RESTON, Va., Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Electrify America is investing $3 million to provide education and awareness programs for low-income and disadvantaged communities throughout California on the benefits of driving zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) and available cash incentives.

Today’s announcement brings Electrify America’s total investment in California community-based programs to $5.7 million over the past two years, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote ZEV adoption throughout the state. The investment will provide support for six California-based organizations as they raise awareness on the benefits of driving ZEVs, while working to get more drivers behind the wheel of electric vehicles.

Investment in California community-based organizations is just one component of the company’s broader commitment to low-income and disadvantaged communities. In 2019 Electrify America invested a total of $82.4 million in these California communities by providing education, access, charging infrastructure and services to promote ZEV driving, including $10 million in education and marketing.

«It’s our goal to expand awareness of clean and sustainable transportation options that are accessible and affordable to Californians,» said Will Berry, social responsibility manager, Electrify America. «Low-income and disadvantaged communities have access to an incredibly complex set of incentives and resources, and we are proud to support trusted community groups that have a proven track record of providing the assistance necessary to help people adopt zero emission vehicles.»

More than 100 non-profit, private and public entities from across California were invited to submit proposals to support brand-neutral ZEV education and awareness in disadvantaged and low-income communities. The six recipients of Electrify America’s investment are:

  • Breathe Southern California
  • Central California Asthma Collaborative
  • Drive Clean Bay Area
  • Ecology Action
  • Liberty Hill Foundation
  • Valley Clean Air Now

The organizations’ programs will highlight how ZEVs today can meet many different consumer needs and provide awareness regarding the economics of driving a zero-emission vehicle. Considerable evidence demonstrates that there is a significant gap between the perceived and actual affordability of ZEVs in California, presenting a meaningful opportunity for effective, targeted educational efforts.

Additional information on the selected California-based organizations and the campaigns that Electrify America will support includes:

  • Breathe Southern California (Breathe SoCal): Breathe SoCal (formerly BREATHE LA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that promotes clean air and healthy lungs through education, research, technology and advocacy. Breathe SoCal will collaborate with Plug In America (PIA), together offering programs to show the powerful benefits of driving electric by providing ZEV Ride and Drive events among low-income and disadvantaged populations in greater Los Angeles County, San Bernardino and Riverside County areas. Breathe SoCal and PIA will implement a three-part strategy including identification of the ZEV target audience, virtual and direct educational contact through featured events and digital reach/messaging reinforcement. https://breathesocal.org/.
  • Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC): CCAC’s mission is to provide education and direct services, build regional capacity and advocate for sensible policies that improve health and address inequities by reducing environmental impacts and emphasizing the prevention and management of chronic disease. CCAC will leverage its existing ZEV outreach assets to increase engagement with low-income and disadvantaged residents across the San Joaquin Valley, including coordination of the Clean Vehicle Empowerment Collaborative (CVEC), a group of eight community-based organizations who serve as trusted messengers in disadvantaged Valley communities. This grant will also support the development of an EV Navigator program, providing residents one-on-one assistance with ZEV pricing, financing and submission of stackable incentive applications. http://cencalasthma.org.
  • Drive Clean Bay Area (DCBA): The DCBA campaign launched the ZEV Families Program in 2019 in collaboration with Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet, Charge Across Town and Cool the Earth to connect low income families in the Bay Area to the clean transportation movement. DCBA focuses on engaging local schools, nonprofits and businesses to educate their stakeholders to drive electric. The ZEV Families Program leverages 1) a family/community approach rather than single buyer, 2) a STEM focus, 3) school and educational events and Ride and Drives, 4) multi-platform social media, and 5) a data-driven approach. https://drivecleanbayarea.org.
  • Ecology Action: Ecology Action helps people act now to reduce emissions at scale to ensure a thriving people and planet. They are committed to transportation justice and have helped advance sustainable transportation in DAC communities for nearly two decades. Ecology Action leads the collaborative Central Coast ZEV Equity Initiative designed to engage and inform low-income and disadvantaged residents that ZEVs can meet their driving needs at an affordable price. With four community partners they will provide ZEV Ride and Drives, ZEV Showcase events and individualized ZEV purchase guidance by using bilingual EV Ambassadors virtually and in person when it is safe to do so, from Santa Cruz to Ventura Counties. https://ecoact.org/about-us/community-engagement/electric-vehicles.
  • Liberty Hill Foundation (LHF): LHF represents all parts of the social justice ecosystem of Los Angeles, and continues their 45-year efforts in the Los Angeles Air Basin to create greater equity, environmental sustainability and economic opportunity. LHF will focus on connecting low-income and disadvantaged households across L.A. County with diverse grassroots groups through its emPOWER program – a partnership between LHF and nine community-based organizations operating across L.A. County in areas on the frontlines of industrial pollution. The program leverages the extensive network of CBO partners across social media platforms, as well as through direct outreach leveraging local community members, volunteers and leaders. https://www.libertyhill.org.
  • Valley Clean Air Now (VCAN): Valley Clean Air Now (VCAN): VCAN is a 501(c)(3) public charity committed to quantifiably reducing air emissions in California’s San Joaquin Valley, the region with the worst air quality in the United States. VCAN and partner Charge Across Town will continue their comprehensive campaigns that offer San Joaquin Valley low-income and disadvantaged community groups an opportunity to drive ZEVs and to provide hands-on help with qualifying for ZEV incentives through Community Clean Car Clinics and Tune In & Tune Up events. Recently, VCAN has partnered with Community Food Distribution hosts to use their communication channels to promote personalized ZEV purchase customer support and document submission. This extended support includes coordination with ZEV vehicle dealerships throughout the qualification and sales process. https://valleycan.org.

In addition to ZEV education and awareness, Electrify America is providing integral DC fast charging infrastructure to help spur the adoption of electric vehicles throughout the state, and the nation. To date, Electrify America has built more than 130 public DC fast-charging station locations throughout California and more than 480 across the United States, with plans to deploy approximately 800 total charging stations with about 3,500 DC fast chargers by December 2021.

About Electrify America
Electrify America LLC, the largest open DC fast charging network in the U.S., is investing $2 billion over 10 years in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure, education and access. The investment will enable millions of Americans to discover the benefits of electric driving and support the build-out of a nationwide network of workplace, community and highway chargers that are convenient and reliable. Electrify America expects to install or have under development approximately 800 total charging stations with about 3,500 DC fast chargers by December 2021. ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Sunset Walk Residences has begun accepting reservations for its new Condo Hotel project located minutes from the Walt Disney World main gate. The mixed use resort opened in 2018 with the Margaritaville Hotel Orlando and Margaritaville Cottages. In 2019, Island H2O Live, the world’s most technologically advanced waterpark was added to the mix. An affiliation with a major hotel brand and a new name is expected to be rolled out sometime in October.

Condo Hotel Offering
The Residences will include Studio, One- and Two-Bedrooms from 538 square feet to 1,204 square feet starting in the low $200k’s, including furniture, during the pre-construction event. Since the Reservations will be issued sequentially, the first to secure their reservations will be among the first to select their condo enjoying a greater selection and lower pre-construction pricing. All reservation holders will make their selection, in person or virtually, at the Priority Selection Event on November 22, 2020.

Whether someone is interested in a vacation home, an investment or both, a pre-construction launch is a smart entry point. According to Joel Lazar, Executive Director of Sales, «If you’re patient, you can reap the benefits. Typically the marketing of priority launch projects is way ahead of development, so renderings, floorplans, design details, pricing, amenities and condo documents are not readily available early in the marketing ramp up. But if you secure your reservation early you benefit by selecting your condo early for a greater selection and better pricing».

Encore Portfolio
Encore Capital Management and its principals are known for developing and building high profile Florida projects like Independence, Miami Worldcenter, Paramount Miami Worldcenter, Encore Club at Reunion, Bear’s Den at Reunion, Island H2O Live waterpark and Mirada in addition to projects in Texas, Arizona and California.

Navy Pier implemented a short-term closure after the Labor Day holiday in an effort to limit the financial burden and impact of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the organization. With the exception of Offshore Rooftop & Bar, the closure put a halt to all Pier-wide operations, including that of Navy Pier’s more than 70 small local businesses, which had also experienced significantly low attendance throughout the summer as a result of the pandemic. Navy Pier plans to reopen in the spring of 2021.

LONDON, Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — eDreams ODIGEO, Europe’s largest online travel company (and eDreams parent company), has surveyed 10,000 respondents across its American and European markets to reveal sentiments about travelling since the appearance of COVID-19. Conducted between 16th and 25th September 2020 and including 2000 respondents from the USA, it exposes our changing priorities, resilience and actual travel habits over the summer and our hopes for the future of travel.

A quest for reassurance: flexibility is the real key for American travellers looking ahead, with 54%  looking for flights and accommodation with guaranteed refunds should the trip be cancelled due to Covid.  A further 53% state that they are waiting for a vaccine before booking a trip abroad.

Summer travel: overwhelmingly, Americans limited their horizons this summer.  40% did not travel at all, and 45% changed their travel plans in order to take local or domestic trips.  In this regard, American men made most alterations to their plans – 50% of them changing schedules compared to 39% of women. For those who did venture abroad, most felt most safe on the flight itself because of the mandatory use of face masks (32%). The findings are similar across all the countries surveyed, with fewer travellers choosing to venture abroad this summer and an overwhelming trend for making the most of our home countries – an overall average of 41%.

What next? eDreams’ survey gives the travel industry reason to hope, indicating that travellers across all the markets polled are beginning to plan their 2021 holidays, with more than half (51%) of all responses indicating that short, long and even extended trips are on the drawing board. In particular, 32% of American respondents are already planning long-haul holidays:  41% choosing the destination they like most, while being cautious during stays in popular places and 39% having an extra eye for hygiene conditions and relying on government and official advice when booking. Beach holidays will be in demand, with the majority of American respondents (32%) preferring the beach above all other types of destination.  Bookings themselves may be later than was traditional pre-COVID (28% express a preference to book last minute) and savings are important with 22% of consumers looking for bargains (26% of men compared to just 18% of women).

Methodology: the eDreams Post Covid Survey was conducted by OnePoll between 16-29 September 2020, across its key markets including the UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. It was conducted between 16-25 September in the USA and between 16-29 September in all other markets, and with a group of 10,000 total respondents of which 2000 were from the USA. All respondents were adults who have been on a plane in the past two years.

About eDreams: eDreams is one of the world’s leading online travel brands.

DETROIT, Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Since 2011, Chevrolet has been a partner in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement, raising over $13.8 million to fund the future of groundbreaking breast cancer research, 24/7 support for cancer patients, and provide access to lifesaving screenings.

Chevrolet and participating dealers across the United States have supported more than 100 Making Strides events across the country through event sponsorships, team participation, and customer engagement.

While Making Strides events have gone virtual this year, Chevrolet will continue support the events at the national, regional and local level all month. Employees across the country are participating in local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events by «walking where they are» and making donations.

On October 1, Chevrolet launched its monthlong #IDriveFor social media campaign, which encourages people to share whom they drive for using the hashtag. Chevrolet will contribute $5 for every social post (up to $220,000) on Twitter or Instagram using #IDriveFor.

Chevrolet is also showing its support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Making Strides by turning the towers of the Renaissance Center global headquarters in Detroit pink during October, displaying a pink fleet of vehicles and painting the sidewalks in front of the Renaissance Center pink.

«We are more grateful than ever for Chevrolet’s partnership, 10 years strong,» said Gary Reedy, chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society. «Cancer hasn’t stopped for COVID-19. Chevy’s continued commitment to Making Strides, ensures we can fund the future and continue the progress we have made in the fight against breast cancer through groundbreaking research, providing access to care and providing screenings for those who need it most.»

«Many things look different today than they did a year ago, but the commitment by ACS to continue the fight against breast cancer remains unwavering,» said Steve Majoros, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. «Chevy is proud to continue our commitment to Making Strides with the rollout of the #IDriveFor campaign. We are excited to leverage technology to create a virtual community fueled by the shared mission of raising awareness of and financial support for breast cancer research.»
