  • Built to Serve edition of Ram 1500 pickup trucks honor the five branches of the United States armed forces
  • Fifth installment introduces 500 models in Spitfire and 750 models in Bright White
  • Military branch-inspired interior available in Ram dealer showrooms starting in the second quarter of 2021
  • Ram recognizes all owners who serve or who have served our nation and our communities

Ram Truck today announced the fifth and final installment of its Built to Serve edition trucks will open for orders this month with production slated for the second quarter of 2021 at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.

Ram is celebrating America’s five land, sea and air-based armed forces with Built to Serve editions of its popular Ram 1500 half-ton pickup truck lineup. This fifth installment offers a maritime force-inspired theme with both Spitfire and Bright White exterior colors offered, along with a black interior with orange accent stitching.

«We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our armed forces and the brave men and women who serve them. These Built to Serve models are just one way we honor those who have selflessly served our country,» said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. «Whether civilian or military, Ram truck owners are very familiar with this adage as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce.»

Each of the five U.S. military service branches have now been honored by Ram with two specially selected exterior paint colors that evoke the spirit, the mission and history of that service. One of each branch’s «Built to Serve Edition» models is offered in a new low-volume paint option exclusive to this program.

The Built to Serve edition Ram trucks are offered in the following colors and limited numbers:

  • Gator (1,000 units) and Diamond Black Crystal (1,000)
  • Ceramic Gray (1,000) and Patriot Blue (1,000)
  • Anvil (1,250) and Billet Silver Metallic (1,500)
  • Tank (1,000) and Flame Red (1,000)
  • Spitfire (500) and Bright White (750)

Ram Built to Serve editions offer other unique interior and exterior features that set them apart, including a United States flag and «Built to Serve» decal on each of the rear quarter panels.

Built to Serve edition trucks get additional stylish exterior cues, including 20-inch aluminum wheels with a unique-to-the-edition Technical Gray finish. Body-color wheel flares also accent the exterior.

Each of the new Ram front ends gets a unique treatment consisting of an all-black grille and surround, black bumpers and black-bezel premium lighting. Complementing the look are black badges, black wheel-to-wheel side steps and dual four-inch black exhaust tips.

Inside, the Built to Serve Ram trucks represent each of the five military branches, accented with unique, corresponding color stitching: Light Frost, Light Ambassador Blue, Light Diesel Gray, Medium Greystone or Orange.

These new Ram models are also ready to display their owner’s military pride with «Built to Serve» embroidered on Velcro panels on each front seat and additional Velcro panels on each front seat inboard shoulder panel. Buyers can apply their own patches – regimental, flags, name tapes or slogans – to personalize their Built to Serve edition. Front seat back panels are covered with Pouch Attachment Ladder System/Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment (PALS/MOLLE) webbing to attach additional equipment or pouches.

Ram 1500 Built to Serve editions also feature:

  • Built to Serve instrument panel badge
  • Lockable console storage (optional)
  • Deeply bolstered cloth and vinyl Sport seats
  • Black Onyx Chrome interior trim
  • All-weather rubber slush mats

Underneath the skin, each Ram Built to Serve edition is ready for action, loaded with 4×4 Off-Road Group content, including:

As part of the Built to Serve initiative, Ram is bringing further attention to its volunteer initiative called Ram Nation. Ram Nation has been organizing grassroots volunteer events since 2015 and, through the launch of the Built to Serve edition trucks, is reinforcing its commitment to recognizing those who serve our nation and our communities.

Ram Nation is recruiting individuals to donate their time and to volunteer in their own communities across the nation. In addition to activating the Ram Nation volunteer corps across the U.S., Ram is extending the invitation to all individuals, regardless of whether or not they are a Ram truck owner. Nexteer Expands Driveline Portfolio for Electric Vehicles

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Mar. 2, 2021  /PRNewswire/ — Nexteer Automotive, a leader in intuitive motion control, continues expanding its Driveline portfolio with new Halfshaft technologies that are tailored to meet the unique demands of electric vehicles (EVs).

Nexteer’s Halfshaft technologies solve EV challenges by enhancing durability and efficiency while optimizing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance and low mass.

Unlike internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, EV architectures utilize Electric Drive Units (EDUs) integrated into the front axle for front wheel drive (FWD), the rear axle for rear wheel drive (RWD) or both for all wheel drive operation (AWD). While ICE vehicles often used a variety of Driveline technologies, EVs rely on Halfshafts for the critical task of transmitting torque from the EDU’s to the wheels.

«The global automotive industry’s commitment to electrification continues to increase, and Nexteer’s Driveline innovations help overcome automakers’ EV challenges so they can create comfortable and durable electric vehicles to achieve consumer preferences across global markets,» said Robin Milavec, Senior Vice President, Executive Board Director, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Nexteer Automotive. «Our vast experience with Driveline and our commitment to relentless innovation make Nexteer a preferred technology partner as OEM customers work to meet the unique needs of EVs.»

Nexteer’s Driveline technologies include:

  • Parametric Trunnion Tripot: Increases durability life by 100%, which enables the use of smaller, lighter joints.
  • TriGlide Shudderless Tripot: Achieves industry-leading NVH performance for a shudderless tripot.
  • Ball Spline Axle Halfshaft: A unique Halfshaft solution that provides expanded plunge / angle capabilities, expanded durability and unmatched NVH performance even at ultra-high operating angles.
  • Monobloc Tubular Shaft: Enables lower mass and increased torsional stiffness for RWD and FWD ICE and EV applications with one-piece tubular axle shafts.
  • CrossGlide 8-Ball Plunging Joint: Provides ideal NVH characteristics, lower mass and smaller package size for RWD EV applications.
  • High Efficiency Fixed Center 8-Ball Joint: Delivers a 50% reduction in mechanical efficiency loss in the Driveline while providing a reduced package size and reduced mass for FWD, RWD and AWD EV applications.
  • 52 Degree CV Joint: Expands capability of standard undercut free (UF) style outboard (OB) joint to 52 degrees.

«Nexteer’s portfolio of Halfshaft technologies are essential to transferring and controlling power from an EV’s Drive Unit to its wheels – providing a smooth ride, increasing control and limiting disturbances for drivers and passengers. We are proud to support automakers as they drive toward a more electric future,» said Milavec.

D-Fend Solutions Offers Remote ID-Ready Counter-Drone Technology

RA’ANANA, Israel and MCLEAN, Va., March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —  D-Fend Solutions, the leading counter-drone cyber takeover technology provider, announced today that its counter-small, unmanned aerial system (C-sUAS) technology, EnforceAir, already supports the <a target="_blank"…

RA’ANANA, Israel and MCLEAN, Va., March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —  D-Fend Solutions, the leading counter-drone cyber takeover technology provider, announced today that its counter-small, unmanned aerial system (C-sUAS) technology, EnforceAir, already supports the remote ID rule recently passed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that requires remote identification (remote ID) for large categories of drones in the U.S.

D-Fend Solutions Logo

D-Fend’s technology is remote ID ready in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

EnforceAir offered identification capabilities prior to the passage of the FAA’s final rule, supporting unique ID per serial number, accurate location information for the drone and ground station, and additional identification parameters.

D-Fend’s system will continue to support this regulation, providing customers with updated identification information following the adoption of the law by various drone manufacturers. System operators can see the remote IDs of detected drones via EnforceAir’s intuitive graphical user interface, offering law enforcement agencies and other organizations greater visibility and data

«The entire drone ecosystem should benefit from the FAA’s rule, including drone manufacturers, who have a vested interest in ensuring that their products are not used for illegal purposes; law-abiding drone operators, who will be able to fly their drones over certain crowds and at night; and law enforcement personnel, who will obtain important information from leading counter-drone technologies about drones and operators involved in dangerous or hostile incidents,» said Zohar Halachmi, Chairman and CEO, D-Fend Solutions. «D-Fend is honored that our technology has been tested, selected and trusted by top tier U.S. government agencies and we will continue to work with them to reduce the drone threat, while ensuring our continued system evolution includes the functionality required by new rulings.»

«This new rule by my former colleagues at the FAA is an important step in better regulating drones in the United States,» said Michael Huerta, former Head of the FAA and current D-Fend Solutions’ Advisory Board Member. «I strongly believe in D-Fend’s mission to support today’s drone-powered society by making it safer and more secure, which this rule and D-Fend’s technology will help facilitate.»

D-Fend Solutions’ multi-disciplinary team is closely studying this rule to anticipate its potential effects on the counter-drone space in the U.S. and act as a trusted advisor to its clients. The company continuously upgrades and improves its technology to benefit customers and comply with applicable rules and regulations worldwide.

About D-Fend Solutions

D-Fend Solutions is the leading counter-drone takeover technology provider, enabling full control, safety and continuity during rogue drone incidents across complex and sensitive environments, to overcome both current and emerging drone threats. With hundreds of deployments worldwide, EnforceAir, the company’s flagship offering, focuses on the most dangerous drone threats in military, public safety, airport, prison, major event and critical infrastructure environments. Best Places to Retire in Europe, SE Asia and Latin America in 2021–InternationalLiving.com

BALTIMORE, March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — «All over the planet, we’ve identified friendly, good-value, warm-weather escapes where you could effectively upgrade your life—places where it’s possible to live better, but spend less. For many expats, that’s the end goal. Even if you could afford to retire at home, in the right spots overseas, you could live two or three times better, afford to save for great travel adventures, and never worry again that you’d outlive your nest egg.

«In International Living’s annual Global Retirement Index, we compare, contrast, rank, and rate 25 countries across 10 categories (and point to specific communities we recommend in each). The three regional winners provide a sense for the diversity of options people have around the world today. Costa Rica, Portugal, and Malaysia—while each is unique in character, all offer great beaches, welcoming locals, and comfortable low-cost living.»

The regional winners identified in International Living’s 2021 Global Retirement Index are:

IL’s Top Pick in Latin America: Costa Rica

Given that Costa Rica is the overall leader of the Index this year, that also puts it in the position of best location in Latin America.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country, with long stretches of deserted and undeveloped beaches, dense jungles teeming with exotic wildlife, towering volcanoes, lush green valleys, and crystal-clear rivers and lakes.

It attracts many different types of expats, and all can find a place in its tolerant, welcoming society. «I left the U.S. in 2005,» says Costa Rica expat Roni S. Cher. «I am an environmental and peace activist who had just had enough. I came to live a less stressful, gentler life growing a lot of my own organic food, being a hermit, and making art. I have been much happier here.»

Roni’s experience is a happy one, but maybe her lifestyle is more niche than the average Joe would choose. Hers is not the only way of life in Costa Rica, though.

For Lisa Burnham, originally from San Francisco, California, life in Costa Rica is the realization of a long-term dream. «Something kept bringing me back to Costa Rica for over 30 years, and now I have lived here as an expat full-time for three years,» she says from her home in the beach town of Tamarindo.

«Life is thriving and abundant here, the commerce and culture is a wonderful eclectic mix of a global community that comes to visit, those who end up staying, and, of course, the ticos [locals]. After three years, the U.S. feels like a foreign land, and a truer sense of a happiness lifestyle that suits me better seems to have emerged. Life really is simpler here.»

Beaches, lakes, valleys, urban amenities, and untracked wilderness—they’re all packed into this small Central American nation. Not only that, but the country offers a warm climate year-round, a neighborly atmosphere, no-hassle residence programs, excellent healthcare, a stable democracy, and safety and security. It doesn’t hurt that many retired couples report living well on $2,000 a month—and that includes all their costs.

It comes as no surprise to the overseas experts at International Living that Costa Rica is the top destination in Latin America—and the world—for 2021.

IL’s Top Pick in Europe: Portugal

«Since I have been living in Portugal,» says Joann Arnold, who moved to the European country in 2017, «my health has improved greatly; no stress, no worries. I survive on my Social Security and my pension, and I have all I need: a beautiful place to retire, a low cost of living, and the food—fresh grilled fish, salad, and garlic potatoes—is delicious.»

As Joann has found, with the lowest cost of living in Western Europe, an Old World retirement in Portugal is within most North American expats’ means. Portugal, continental Europe’s westernmost country, lies quietly in the shadow of the larger, more boisterous Spain. People are friendly and courteous. Family and friends are important, and people know their neighbors and the local shopkeepers. Ancient buildings look worn and lived-in, and quiet, cobbled lanes wind through seaside villages.

Quietly friendly, emphatically old-fashioned, and highly conscious of their illustrious history, the people of Portugal are what makes the country such a magical destination to retire to.

«One of Portugal’s main advantages,» says U.S. expat Rick Steffens, «is that it’s very affordable, from daily groceries to property.» Rick and his wife, Victoria, retired to the south coast of the country in 2016, after spending a year touring the country in search of the perfect spot to settle. «We currently rent a house with roof terrace and ocean view in Ferragudo for $577 a month,» says Rick. «Only a 10-minute walk from our doorstep, there are five different beaches to choose from. In the U.S., a property like that would be quadruple the price at least. Same for medical insurance: in the U.S., we’d pay $400 per month, per person. Here, we’ve found great health insurance for both of us for $173 monthly.»

With figures like that, it’s easy to see why Portugal tops the chart as International Living’s pick for a European retirement this year.

IL’s Top Pick in Southeast Asia: Malaysia

Malaysia offers an exciting mix of Asian exoticism, cutting-edge modernity, and the grand colonial opulence of the Victorian era from when it was a British colony. Beyond the lofty skyscrapers of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and the bustling expat community of Penang, its dramatic canvas is embroidered with tropical beaches, mountains, dense rainforest, and vivid green tea plantations.

Most people in Malaysia speak English; its healthcare is among the most modern and affordable in the world; property rentals cost a fraction of U.S. rates; and the standard of living (including tempting cuisine for as little as $5 for a restaurant meal) is simply luxurious.

The country scores an impressive 91 in this year’s Cost of Living category, establishing it firmly as one of the most affordable overseas retirement locations in the world. With a cost of living that will allow a couple to live handsomely on $1,500 a month, most expats say there’s no need to skimp on comforts (a housekeeper works for about $30 a day).

Situated bang in the center of Southeast Asia, Malaysia is the ideal base for trips to Thailand, Bali, Cambodia, or Vietnam. Getting back home for family visits is affordable, too. A round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Los Angeles costs as little as $455.

With temperatures averaging 82 F, mountain retreats, thousands of miles of coastline, untracked jungles, and chains of islands peppering the surrounding sea, Malaysia offers extraordinary natural surrounds. Plus, they come with top-quality healthcare at low prices. «When I damaged my knee playing tennis one evening, I was sitting in front of a world-class surgeon the following morning,» says Keith Hockton, IL Malaysia Correspondent. «I had an MRI result within an hour, which cost just $73, and I had an operation to repair my meniscus the following day.»

Virginia’s Sportsbooks Impress with $60 Million Debut in January, According to PlayVirginia

LAS VEGAS, March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Virginia’s sportsbooks are off to an impressive start after collecting nearly $60 million in wagers in the first 11 days after the market launched on Jan. 21, the second-highest monthly total in U.S. history for any state in its first month of legal sports betting, according to <a target="_blank"…

LAS VEGAS, March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Virginia’s sportsbooks are off to an impressive start after collecting nearly $60 million in wagers in the first 11 days after the market launched on Jan. 21, the second-highest monthly total in U.S. history for any state in its first month of legal sports betting, according to PlayVirginia, which provides news and analysis of the state’s gaming industry.

«Like its neighbor in Tennessee, Virginia’s online-only market had some advantages that helped fuel such a successful launch,» said Jessica Welman, analyst for PlayVirginia.com. «Debuting ahead of the NFL’s conference championship games and the Super Bowl ensured there would be heavy interest from bettors. In addition, launching with top-flight sportsbook operators in place to serve a market with years of pent-up demand is a recipe for success.»

Virginia sportsbooks generated $58.9 million in handle in January, according to official data released Monday by The Virginia Lottery. Only neighboring Tennessee, which drew $131.4 million in bets in the 30 days after launching on Nov. 1, generated more than Virginia in its debut month, though Virginia topped Tennessee‘ per-day total. Michigan, which opened retail sports betting in 2020, collected $150.8 million in January after launching online sports betting for the first time on Jan. 21.

Virginia’s sportsbooks won $3.6 million in gross gaming revenue on January’s bets. But with an expectedly heavy early promotional push, three of Virginia’s four sportsbooks lost money. That put combined adjusted gaming revenue at a $3.2 million loss.

The promotional credits dampened the state’s take, which was $39,710 and includes a $38,718 infusion in the state’s general fund.

«The relatively small injection in tax dollars is eye-catching, but significant promotional expenses are a given in a market’s first few days,» said Dustin Gouker, analyst for PlayVirginia.com. «We saw the very same dynamic play out in the first days of Michigan’s online market, as well. The bottom line is that Virginia’s market is off to a good start, with significant interest from bettors across the state. That will certainly pay off for the state in coming months.»

Virginia’s market launched with the biggest operators in the U.S. at the ready. FanDuel went live on Jan. 21, and DraftKings and BetMGM opened days later on Jan. 24. BetRivers jumped in the fray on Jan. 26. William Hill launched in February, and more are expected soon.

But that is just the opening salvo for Virginia’s sports betting market, which PlayVirginia expects will grow to generate some $5 billion in annual bets at maturity.

«This was a great start for Virginia, but it’s important to remember that this is just the first few days of the market,» Welman said. «More operators will launch in Virginia and the market should quickly evolve. But in just a few days, it’s clear that Virginia is on its way to becoming one of just a handful of major U.S. markets once it reaches maturity.»

Flux Mopeds Launches the Flux EM1 Street Pilot Program

MADISON, Wis., March 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Flux Mopeds is pleased to announce the launch of the Flux EM1 Street Pilot Program, another step towards making small electric vehicle transport more accessible to communities throughout the United States. The Street Pilot Program is a premiere referral program meant to build a network of like-minded individuals who want easy-to-use, sustainable transportation in their local neighborhood.

Flux Mopeds produces small electric vehicles for short distance transportation. The Flux EM1 is the brand’s flagship product, designed to be Your Local Ride™. It is an electric moped that is easy to ride, park, and haul. Low-maintenance and compact, the Flux EM1 simplifies local short distance travel. It’s already a favorite among RV-owners, who benefit from having a smaller vehicle for greater short distance mobility around the campsite. Flux Mopeds is now looking to bring the benefits of short distance transportation to the broader population.

The Street Pilot Program marks a new milestone towards raising awareness about the advantages of Your Local Ride™ and making the Flux EM1 more accessible for all Americans. Individuals who join the referral program get $100 for each successful sales referral they make. Street Pilots work with Flux Mopeds to develop grassroots marketing efforts in their local communities. Flux Mopeds is targeting a diversity of locations across the country and seeking Street Pilots nationwide.

After a lifetime of driving SUVs, Flux Mopeds co-founder and CEO Matt Brueggeman discovered the benefits of small electric vehicles while traveling abroad. He and his co-founders launched Flux Mopeds to provide people in the United States with an alternative transportation option.

«We believe that it doesn’t make sense to drive a 4,000-pound vehicle a mile to get a quart of milk. There is a better way. After 12 years of development, we’ve produced a reliable small electric vehicle that promotes independent, sustainable communities. The Flux EM1 offers the perfect balance of range, charge time, and speed for short distance transportation. To reach local audiences, we need to think locally. That’s why we want to find like-minded individuals in neighborhoods nationwide who share our passion for a more sustainable and convenient society – and want to share that passion with their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers.»

Matt further details his motivation for seeking local collaboration partners and provides details about the Street Pilot Program in the Flux Mopeds blog: https://www.fluxmopeds.com/standpoint/2021/3/1/why-we-developed-the-flux-em1-to-be-your-local-ride

Flux Mopeds recognizes that making the Flux EM1 a reality for everyday Americans requires a unique approach. The standard dealership model for gas vehicles doesn’t work for electric mopeds. Dealerships make a big cut off of service – but the Flux EM1 is so low-maintenance, it doesn’t require much service. Case in point: The battery is so reliable that the manufacturer warranties it with battery replacement for two years.

This is the kind of advantage Flux Mopeds believes is best communicated by real-world Flux EM1 users – hence the motivation for the Street Pilot referral program. Details about the program can be found in the aforementioned blog post.

About Flux Mopeds
Flux Mopeds officially launched in 2014 with the goal of making short distance transportation in local communities more convenient and sustainable. The result is the Flux EM1, an electric moped that tops out at 38 mph and gets up to 50 miles per charge. The Flux EM1 is the ideal solution for Your Local Ride™. Flux Mopeds manufactures each product to order, which allows the company to retain its competitive pricing and independence. The company caters to clients across the United States, with a flagship dealership located in Madison, Wisconsin. Flux Mopeds can be reached through their website at http://www.fluxmopeds.com/contact.
