SAN DIEGO, March 4, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Global Cloud Fleet, a leading solution provider for vehicle telematics, announced today the release of their new AI powered video solution that effortlessly combines dual-facing video with cutting edge telematics.

The VS800 Video Solution seamlessly pairs with Global Cloud Fleet’s EZ750 telematics gateway, optimizing GPS fleet tracking. The video camera utilizes edge processing to identify «critical events», events that are most important to fleet managers, and then brings high quality video footage of that event from both the road view and cabin view.

Along with that, the video solution provides real-time notifications as well as in-cab driver alerts of these critical events. Both features offer innovative solutions to widespread fleet management and overall driver safety.

The team showcased its dedication towards optimizing its product’s performance while keeping its cost below much of the market’s comparable solutions.

«Edge processing, which is identifying and uploading only events that are of interest, is the future for all video solutions. What Global Cloud Fleet has done is put this technology into a cost effective package and made it affordable for everyone,» says Greg Jones, COO of Global Cloud Fleet.

The VS800 Video Solution can be purchased as a complete package or as an upgrade to the EZ750 gateway, allowing a flexible deployment capability that many other solutions cannot offer.

DuPont Water Solutions and Waterise Collaborate Toward Sustainable Subsea Desalination

WILMINGTON, Del., March 4, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — DuPont (NYSE:DD) today announced that it has entered into a collaboration with Waterise to provide seawater reverse osmosis membranes and expertise to the company’s subsea desalination plants.

Subsea reverse osmosis (RO) desalination presents a sustainable and more economical new way to turn seawater to freshwater. As subsea desalination leverages the natural hydrostatic pressure found at the depths of the sea to run the reverse osmosis, it reduces the energy requirements of conventional RO desalination by 40 percent. It also requires 80 percent less coastal land than land-based plants, presenting a viable option for communities with limited space. From an environmental perspective, subsea desalination requires lower amounts of pretreatment chemicals and eliminates the discharge of concentrated brine into coastal waters.

As Waterise’s patented desalination units reside on the sea floor, Waterise sought the most durable, longest-lasting reverse osmosis element on the market—ultimately focusing on DuPont’s FilmTec™ seawater membranes.

«As we look to increase access to fresh water and enable a water optimized world, we are energized by opportunities to collaborate on innovative solutions to water purification, conservation and reuse,» said HP Nanda, global vice president and general manager, DuPont Water Solutions. «We are excited about Waterise’s new approach to desalination that not only reduces water scarcity, but also minimizes energy consumption and environmental impact.»

In addition to exclusively using DuPont’s FilmTec™ seawater membranes for all systems, DuPont and Waterise will share knowledge and expertise, as well as collaborate on research and development toward the mission to advance the subsea desalination operations and performance.

«I am delighted to announce that Waterise is collaborating with DuPont as part of our program to identify and establish collaboration with world leading companies which produce components needed to construct a Waterise desalination unit,» says Niels Petter Wright, CEO, Waterise.

DuPont Water Solutions (DWS) is a leader in sustainable water purification and separation technologies, including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis (RO) membranes and ion exchange resins. DuPont has been innovating and producing solutions in support of desalination for more than 40 years. The company continues to be at the forefront of reverse osmosis products that pursue sustainability—from lower energy membranes to the recent launch of dry-tested seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO)—as well as the continuous enhancement of membrane durability to enable extremely long membrane lifetimes.

Waterise is a Norwegian company with a groundbreaking and ready to go to market technology for desalination. The subsea desalination solution combines existing reverse osmosis technology with established Norwegian subsea technology and off-the-shelf equipment from leading global subsea suppliers. By reducing land and energy use and providing a standardized and module-based system, Waterise´s solutions will deliver fresh water with substantially reduced investment and operating costs compared to any other technology.

Desalination removes salt and other chemicals from seawater to produce freshwater for municipal, agricultural, energy or industrial use. The world’s oceans contain over 97 percent of the planet’s water resources, providing an essentially unlimited raw material for seawater desalination.

NATSO, Trucking Groups Urge Centers for Disease Control to Designate Truckstops as Mobile Vaccine Sites

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — NATSO, representing the nation’s truckstops and travel plazas, along with a coalition representing trucking fleets and truck drivers in need, urged the Centers for Disease Control to designate truckstops and travel plazas as mobile vaccination sites to leverage existing truckstop locations for the distribution of vaccines to professional truck drivers and truckstop employees.

The very nature of the trucking, truckstop and travel plaza industries allows an opportunity to have an immediate and meaningful impact on the distribution of vaccines to essential truckstop employees and truck drivers, the groups said in a letter to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

NATSO was joined in signing the letter by the American Trucking Associations, the Truckload Carriers Association, National Private Truck Council, National Association of Small Trucking Companies, St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, and the Tank Truck Carriers.

«Truckstops and travel plazas are designed to cater to the unique needs of truck drivers who spend hundreds of days each year away from home,» said NATSO President and CEO Lisa Mullings. «Commercial drivers who are unable to access medical services in their home state or while driving a tractor trailer already are accustomed to accessing these service at truckstops and travel centers. Designating our network as mobile vaccination sites will ensure efficient vaccinations for the essential truck drivers who deliver America’s needs as well as the employees who serve them.»

Utilizing truckstops and travel plazas as mobile vaccination sites would alleviate significant challenges that truck drivers currently face in receiving an expedient vaccine. Many states, for example, currently require proof of residency to receive a vaccine.

Truck drivers should be allowed to receive a vaccine in a state other than that within which they reside due to their length of time on the road and away from home. Truck drivers also must be allowed to receive their second vaccination at a different location as it is improbable that they would have the ability to return to the primary vaccination site on a specific date or time.

«TCA continues to be awed by the dedication of the hardworking men and women in our industry who put their own health and wellbeing on the line to ensure the vaccine makes it safely to its final destination, all while wondering when they will be able to receive their own shots,» said John Lyboldt, President of the Truckload Carriers Association. «We stand ready to help in any way possible to alleviate this concern and urge the CDC to prioritize the trucking industry as the vaccination effort expands.»

«We’re grateful to be working with industry partners to ensure the trucking industry has access to the vaccine while out on the road,» said Dan Horvath, Vice President, Safety Policy, for the American Trucking Associations. «We cannot expect drivers—some of whom are actively transporting the vaccine—to return to their home domicile in order to receive the vaccine. Removing the red tape and using truckstops and travel plazas as mobile distribution sites exclusively for our industry will assist in making the vaccine available for those who choose to receive it.»

«Throughout the last year truck drivers have continued risking their lives to bring us food, supplies, medical equipment, PPE, and now, vaccines,» said Donna Kennedy, Executive Director of the St. Christopher Relief Fund. «It only seems right that our Highway Heroes, these essential workers, be prioritized with immunization against the virus. The St. Christopher Fund feels that it is vital for truck drivers to receive COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible, and that they have easy access to the vaccines. To help with this, we are working with pharmacies and NATSO to make a nationwide plan to have vaccine clinics at truck stops.»

NATSO is the trade association of America’s travel plaza and truckstop industry. Founded in 1960, NATSO represents the industry on legislative and regulatory matters; serves as the official source of information on the diverse travel plaza and truckstop industry; provides education to its members; conducts an annual convention and trade show; and supports efforts to generally improve the business climate in which its members operate.

The updated WizSense features SMD 3.0, an upgraded version of SMD Plus. It can effectively filter out irrelevant objects such as animals, leaves, light, etc., providing an improved human/vehicle detection accuracy rate of 99%. It also offers a longer detection distance of 25 meters (2.8mm fixed focal camera). It is currently available on IPC, with plans to expand in the future.

In addition, the Active Deterrence function helps deter intruders in time with built-in mic, siren, and blue & red light. The newly added function One Click Arming/Disarming allows users to activate the camera’s siren and warning light at the same time with just a single click via the DMSS mobile app or NVR/XVR UI. Active Deterrence also sends a real-time push notification that shows the trigger type (human or vehicle), enabling users to act accordingly.

Moreover, the Time-sharing Monitoring function of WizSense allows users to preset camera positions based on time tasks. In a retail shop scenario for example, a PTZ camera (e.g., PTZ SD3A series) can actively monitor the store’s main area during day time, and automatically switch to the entrance during non-business hours. Additionally, this product line’s Two-way Talk allows users to communicate with the detected target through the DMSS app or PC client. Users can also create a ten-second customized voice audio, which can be used as greetings, reminders, warnings, etc.

Furthermore, the updated WizSense also carries out intelligent functions from the previous version, including Perimeter Protection, Face Recognition (up to 95% accuracy and <1s recognition speed), and AI Coding. With the company’s ISO/IEC 27701 certification from British Standards Institution (BSI), WizSense complies with the privacy protection requirements of ISO/IEC 27701:2019.

The updated WizSense can be deployed in a wide-range of application scenarios, making it an ideal monitoring solution that offers intelligence, simplicity, and inclusivity to customers. With its mission of «Enabling a safer society and smarter living», Dahua Technology will continue to focus on «Innovation, Quality and Service» to serve its partners and customers around the world.
