HOOFDDORP, Netherlands, Oct. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Delta, a global leader in power and thermal management solutions, today announced it is collaborating with Brandenburgische Technische Universität[1] on an on-site proof-of-concept designed to test the feasibility of enabling a smart grid capable of balancing the power demand/supply between grid operators and electric vehicle (EV) owners. Delta’s EV charging infrastructure solutions, which include six 100kW Ultra Fast EV chargers and three vehicle-to-grid (V2G) bi-directional EV chargers, provide the foundation technology required for a viable end-to-end power management system that tightly couples the EV’s storage to a realistic simulation of the main electricity grid on the distribution network operator (DNO) level.

The challenge is to prove to the EV community that drivers will always have the power they need when they need it and the grid operators will be able smooth their loading, reduce CO2 emissions, enhancing the stability of the grid, and remove the need for major grid investments. To address this, the project comprises EVs (and their users), ultra-fast charging points for fast charging to their EVs, V2G bi-directional EV chargers for grid stability and decrease the power transmission within and between the power clusters, a simulation of a Smart grid – which is constantly fed with data from a real grid during archiving of the most recent grid status – and the software that is needed at every point along the chain.

Delta provided the project with six 150 kW Ultra-Fast EV Chargers and three V2G bi-directional EV chargers. The hardware is spread between the three participating institutions: Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU); Universität Potsdam; and Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde (HNEE). Delta is also currently leading the development of a new communication and charge-point management backend system required at many points in the process, and which is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.  The system is designed to be used at every point, both behind the scenes for control of – and communication between – devices, and at the human interfaces, including the EV drivers (via their smartphones), the charge point operators and the grid controllers. Delta attaches particular importance to using standardized software interfaces and open communication protocols. This simplifies the integration of the software to be developed into the ecosystem of e-mobility.

Delta was chosen for its deep experience in developing EV charging systems and control software. Delta’s background means that its technologies and skills closely match the technical requirements of the research project. It also lends its considerable software project leadership expertise to the development of the new applications needed to control energy flows to where they’re most needed.

With Delta’s considerable help, test vehicles are deployed to help understand the implications and opportunities for the blending of e-mobility with the electricity supply grid. El reto es demostrar que la comunidad VE que los conductores siempre tendrán el poder que necesitan cuando lo necesitan y los operadores de red serán capaces de mejorar sus cargas, reducir las emisiones de CO2, mejorar la estabilidad de la red y eliminar la necesidad de una inversión de red importante. Para hacer frente a esto, el proyecto está formado por los VEs (y sus usuarios), los puntos de carga ultra rápidos para sus VEs, cargadores VE bidireccionales V2G para estabilidad de red y reducción de la transmisión energética dentro y entre las agrupaciones de energía, una simulación de una red inteligente – que se alimenta de forma constante desde una red real durante la consecución de la categoría de red más reciente – y el software que es necesario en cada uno de los puntos de la cadena.

Delta ha proporcionado al proyecto seis cargadores EV 150 kW Ultra-Fast y tres cargadores EV EV V2G bidireccionales. El hardware se reparte entre tres instituciones participantes: la Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU); la Universität Potsdam y Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde (HNEE). Delta está liderando además el desarrollo del nuevo sistema con respaldo para la gestión del punto de carga y comunicaciones necesario para los principales puntos en el proceso, que se espera termine a finales del 2020. El sistema se ha diseñado para utilizarse en cualquier punto, tanto detrás de las escenas de control de – y de las comunicaciones entre – dispositivos, además de en las interfaces humanas, incluyendo los conductores VE (por medio de sus smartphones), los operadores de punto de carga y los controladores de las redes. The challenge is to prove to the EV community that drivers will always have the power they need when they need it and the grid operators will be able smooth their loading, reduce CO2 emissions, enhancing the stability of the grid, and remove the need for major grid investments. To address this, the project comprises EVs (and their users), ultra-fast charging points for fast charging to their EVs, V2G bi-directional EV chargers for grid stability and decrease the power transmission within and between the power clusters, a simulation of a Smart grid – which is constantly fed with data from a real grid during archiving of the most recent grid status – and the software that is needed at every point along the chain.

Delta provided the project with six 150 kW Ultra-Fast EV Chargers and three V2G bi-directional EV chargers. The hardware is spread between the three participating institutions: Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU); Universität Potsdam; and Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde (HNEE). Delta is also currently leading the development of a new communication and charge-point management backend system required at many points in the process, and which is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.  The system is designed to be used at every point, both behind the scenes for control of – and communication between – devices, and at the human interfaces, including the EV drivers (via their smartphones), the charge point operators and the grid controllers. Delta attaches particular importance to using standardized software interfaces and open communication protocols. This simplifies the integration of the software to be developed into the ecosystem of e-mobility.

Delta was chosen for its deep experience in developing EV charging systems and control software. En las Conclusiones se exponen las dos vertientes del mensaje político de los Estados miembros: garantizar alimentos suficientes y asequibles, contribuyendo a la neutralidad climática de aquí a 2050 y garantizando unos ingresos justos y un firme apoyo a los productores primarios.

En sus Conclusiones, el Consejo solicita que las propuestas legislativas de la UE en el marco de la Estrategia «De la Granja a la Mesa» se fundamenten en evaluaciones de impacto previas sustentadas en una sólida base científica. Asimismo, insta a que se siga promoviendo la prudencia y la responsabilidad en el uso de plaguicidas, antimicrobianos y fertilizantes a fin de lograr la sostenibilidad de los alimentos al tiempo que se protege el medio ambiente. Además, los ministros apelan a la igualdad de condiciones en los mercados agroalimentarios competitivos y la compatibilidad con las normas de la OMC.

En las Conclusiones, los Estados miembros reconocen que los alimentos europeos ya se consideran una norma mundial en cuanto a su inocuidad, valor nutritivo y alta calidad, y hacen constar en este sentido la importancia de promover la sostenibilidad de los sistemas alimentarios a escala mundial. Con ello se conseguirían compromisos más ambiciosos por parte de países no pertenecientes a la UE en torno a la protección del medio ambiente, el uso de plaguicidas y antimicrobianos y la salud de los animales, entre otros aspectos.

Antecedentes

La Comisión presentó la Estrategia «De la Granja a la Mesa» en mayo de 2020, subrayando que es parte integrante del Pacto Verde Europeo, por el que se establece el objetivo de un «sistema alimentario justo, saludable y respetuoso con el medio ambiente». La transición al nuevo sistema alimentario estará respaldada por la reforma de la política agraria común (PAC).

Los ministros ya habían reiterado con anterioridad la importancia de incluir los objetivos y metas de la Estrategia en los futuros planes estratégicos nacionales de la PAC por medio de recomendaciones específicas por país. La Comisión ha confirmado que las recomendaciones no son jurídicamente vinculantes y que tendrá en cuenta su aplicación al aprobar los planes estratégicos nacionales.
