TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 24, 2021 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The 2021 Acura RDX and TLX have earned the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Both Acura models qualified for TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) by earning a top rating of «GOOD» in all crashworthiness tests, a «SUPERIOR» rating for the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), part of the standard AcuraWatch™ safety and driver-assistive technology and standard «GOOD» rated headlights. Not yet tested by the Institute, the all-new 2022 Acura MDX, the brand’s flagship model, is similarly expected to achieve a 2021 TSP+ rating when it is evaluated later this year.

2021 Acura RDX and TLX Earn Highest Possible Safety Award from IIHS

All Acura sedans and SUVs feature the AcuraWatch™ suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies as standard equipment, including Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and Road Departure Mitigation. The 2021 Acura RDX and TLX feature Acura’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, designed to enhance occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions with a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle and reducing the forces transferred to the passenger compartment. Acura JewelEye™ LED headlights help both models achieve its best-in-class ratings.

To earn the 2021 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle must earn good crashworthiness ratings in all test modes, including the challenging passenger-side small overlap test. It also needs available front crash prevention (standard on RDX and TLX) that earns an advanced or superior rating in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian testing and standard good- or acceptable- rated headlights.

Weather Technology Pioneer ClimaCell is Going to Space

BOSTON, Feb. 24, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Today ClimaCell, the world’s leading weather intelligence platform is excited to announce Operation Tomorrow Space. To improve global forecasting technology and capabilities, ClimaCell has designed proprietary radar-equipped satellites and will begin launching dozens into space over the coming years. Known for pioneering a number of weather technology advancements in recent years, ClimaCell’s radar-equipped small-satellite constellation represents a first in the history of the weather industry.

«We are building the first of its kind proprietary satellites equipped with radar, and launching them into space to improve weather monitoring and forecasting capabilities,» said Shimon Elkabetz, CEO and Co-Founder of ClimaCell.

While weather-focused satellites have been in space for decades, most existing satellites still are not able to accurately detect precipitation from space. The few that can cost more than $1 billion each and offer refresh rates in the order of a few days, rendering them practically useless for day-to-day weather applications such as hurricane forecasting and even less severe storm predictions.

Through technological breakthroughs ClimaCell achieved a significant (over 95%) reduction in size and cost of weather-radar satellites, making the dream of true global radar coverage closer than ever.

ClimaCell’s proprietary satellite design includes comparable performance to the existing $1 billion weather satellites such as NASA’s Global Precipitation Mission (GPM), but at a fraction of the price, enabling the opportunity to launch a constellation of dozens of satellites. To put into perspective the physical transformation of ClimaCell’s satellites, the company has reduced the size of existing weather satellites from the size of a school bus – considered industry standard until now – to the size of a miniature refrigerator. Each satellite will be equipped with its own radar, and ClimaCell expects that its constellation will increase global revisit time from satellite to earth by 50X.

«We are positioned for an exciting year in 2021 with Operation Tomorrow Space at the lead of our continued disruption and pioneering across the weather technology industry and beyond,» said Rei Goffer, Chief Strategy Officer and Cofounder at ClimaCell. «While today signifies the next generation of weather capabilities for every person and business on the planet, this is only the first step in support of Operation Tomorrow Space.»

To learn more, see our blog post with full details from ClimaCell’s CEO and co-founder, Shimon Elkabetz.

About ClimaCell:

ClimaCell is the world’s leading All-in-One Weather Intelligence Platform™.
