Según una investigación patentada de National Pork Board, el 79% de los hispanos cocinan comidas para mantener una conexión con su cultura nativa y el 62% afirma que prefiere alimentos que les recuerden las tradiciones familiares. Además, el 62% de los latinos reconoce que «saludable significa fresco para mí». Aunque existen diferentes versiones de una comida típica dentro de cada cultura, un elemento que se mantiene constante en la cocina hispana es la carne de cerdo.

«La carne de cerdo ha sido un alimento básico en las cocinas hispanas a lo largo de generaciones. Y hoy en día, la carne de cerdo es un 16% más magra y un 27% más baja en grasas saturadas de lo que era hace unos 20 años, gracias a la respuesta de la industria porcina ante el deseo de los consumidores de productos magros de carne de cerdo», expresó de Jesús.

Un estudio realizado por National Pork Board reveló que la carne de cerdo es una proteína rica en nutrientes y de alta calidad que está llena de sabor, convirtiéndola en la proteína ideal para cualquier tipo de comida. Además, la carne de cerdo es una proteína muy accesible, adecuada para una variedad de métodos de cocción en los que se utilizan ingredientes hispanos tradicionales que se encuentran en todos los mercados hispanos en el país incluyendo: verduras frescas, salsas a base de frutas frescas, especias como habanero, ají amarillo y chipotle y salsas como Mojo Criollo y Guayaba.
