ROHNERT PARK, Calif., March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Graton Resort & Casino has announced across-the-board, industry-leading minimum wage increases effective March 8, 2021, for all team members. This includes:

  • $17.50/hour for tipped workers (minimum $2.50 increase based on current wages)
  • $18.50/ for non-tipped workers (minimum $3.25 increase based on current wages)
  • 10% minimum pay raises for salaried employees
  • New quarterly discretionary bonus program
Industry-Leading Employee Minimum Wage Increases to $18.50 for Non-Tipped Hourly Workers

«Families in Northern California struggle to get by on the minimum wage,» said Graton Rancheria Tribal Chairman Greg Sarris. «Costs for food and shelter are inordinately high here. In keeping with the Tribe’s mission of social justice and environmental stewardship, our business has always compensated team members above the minimum wage in addition to providing paid benefits such as health insurance and PTO. Our business supports families with good jobs, advancement, benefits and pay. The Graton Resort & Casino is proud to be a business that leads the marketplace and a place where people can grow their career and support their families. We already offer 100% paid employee health insurance. A wage increase seemed only fitting to help our team members after a difficult year.»

D. Taylor, International President of UNITE HERE noted, «Graton Resort & Casino’s life-changing raises and bonuses will enable workers, their families, and their communities to rebuild and thrive in Northern California. Too many employers in the hospitality industry have left their workers behind during COVID-19, and the leadership of Graton Resort & Casino sends a powerful message that our recovery depends on good jobs and a just economy. We’re proud to work with Graton Resort & Casino to advance the standard of living for working families in Sonoma County

«The cost of living makes it really hard to hold on in Sonoma County,» said Kathy Winfield, a public areas cleaner at Graton Resort & Casino. «It’s been years since I had the chance to take a family vacation. We recently had two tragedies in my family, and this raise will take some of the pressure off financially and allow us to spend quality time together to heal. Family is so important, and this raise will give us the chance to start a new chapter.»

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — There’s a reason why springtime in Scottsdale is beloved by locals and sought after by travelers; maybe it’s the blooming cacti, the cool mornings and evenings bookending warm afternoons, or the revival in energy that comes after the winter blues are far behind. With 2020 in the rearview mirror, plenty of room to roam, and endless sunshine, Scottsdale is a sure thing for a safe spring getaway.

STAY SOMEWHERE SPACIOUS

  • Inspired by the colors of the desert and timeless design of Alexander Girard, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows is a secluded urban oasis. The modern bungalows are situated across 23 acres and each one features its own terrace to connect guests with views of Camelback Mountain and the spectacular desert landscape. The resort also offers private suites and The Retreat – an enclave of 20 bungalows with a private pool – for even more solitude.
  • Four Seasons Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Troon North sits nestled in the foothills of Pinnacle Peak, surrounded by open desert landscape. Guests stay in expansive casitas and suites that open to the high Sonoran Desert. Select room types have private pools or patio fire pits for ultimate relaxation, and with a short walk, guests find themselves at the base of the landmark Pinnacle Peak, jutting up to the sky.
  • JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa offers breathtaking views of Camelback and Mummy mountains while situated in the heart of Paradise Valley, where streetlights are prohibited, and starry skies are luminous. Contemporary Southwestern casitas and suites line the property; many with their own sundecks and private pools.
  • At the Boulders Resort & Spa Scottsdale, having space is no problem. The resort sits on 1,300 acres and is surrounded by 12-million-year-old granite boulders. Just outside of the quiet casitas, villas and suites are wild desert scenery and a world-class golf course, for window and patio views that are nothing short of peaceful.

OPT FOR THE OUTDOORS

  • Scottsdale boasts 330 days of sunshine per year and protects more than 35,000 acres of untamed desert land known as the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. So, it’s no surprise why hiking tops spring visitors’ activities list. A sunrise hike in the Preserve – when the air is crisp, the land is quiet and there’s views of Saguaro cacti as far as the eye can see – is worthy of a life-long memory (and an early wakeup call).
  • Did you know? Nearly half of Scottsdale’s land mass is Open Space, which makes for endless off-roading opportunities and several local companies lead adventures through the area’s rugged terrain. Take the driver’s seat on an ATV tour with Green Zebra Adventures or let the guide take the wheel on Stellar Adventures’ desert Hummer tour, both full of action and excitement.
  • Fly high and enjoy the breathtaking, 360 views of the varied landscape on a hot air balloon ride with Rainbow Ryders or Hot Air Expeditions. Both offer sunset flights for picturesque panoramas that can’t be found anywhere else and an experience so tranquil, it often takes passengers by surprise.
  • With more than 50 courses in Scottsdale proper and another 200 in the greater Scottsdale area, the city knows a good round when they see one. The destination’s year-round sunny skies allow for play regardless of season (or skill level) at some of the best courses in the world.

FIND SOCIALLY DISTANT FUN

  • Grab your mitts and sunscreen, Spring Training is back in Scottsdale through March 30. Catch the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium or the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Fan attendance is limited, but the excitement is in full force.
  • Friday nights are «Live & Local» with On the Lawn concerts outside Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts through April 2. Enjoy a variety of genres of music under the cool Arizona sky and lush green space in Scottsdale Civic Center Park. Concertgoers can purchase socially distanced pods for groups of four or fewer, with safety protocols in place
  • Get in touch with nature with Desert Botanical Garden’s latest art exhibition, «Wind, Water, Earth» featuring three large-scale living sculptures by artists Natasha Lisita and Daniel Schultz, using florals and plant materials as a medium and desert elements as inspiration. The sculptures will remain on view through April 25.
  • Explore Taliesin West, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at leisure with a new Self-Guided Audio Tour that allows visitors a safe and interactive tour of the late architect’s winter laboratory and home, featuring Wright’s own spoken words from original audio recordings.

La economía brasileña retrocedió un 4,1% en 2020

PR Newswire

ATLANTA, March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — In 2020, IHG Hotels & Resorts introduced its Meet with Confidence program to support the changing needs of meeting planners. Now, as the world prepares to safely return to travel, the program has expanded to include resources, technology and tools for hybrid events. These hybrid capabilities can simultaneously connect multiple hotel locations to regional and global business and leisure events through live streaming, creating more shared experiences for virtual and in-person attendees.

To further enhance the program, IHG has formed partnerships in the U.S. with Wellness 4 Humanity, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and weframe. These partners will offer solutions, including rapid onsite Covid-19 testing, customized food and beverage experiences and technology to enable digital collaboration. IHG’s enhanced Meet with Confidence program supports successful conferences and events and is designed around five pillars to include all aspects of planning and execution:

  • Clean and Safe: Enhanced cleanliness, social distancing and safety measures at all times
  • Simplified: Streamlined contracting and planning, plus peace of mind with no cancellation or attrition fees
  • Hybrid: Technology support and bandwidth to host seamless hybrid meetings and events
  • Delicious: Satisfying food and beverage options delivered safely
  • Rewarding: Flexible offers with rebates and IHG Business Rewards points

Bookers and planners can choose from two hybrid events solutions – Smart and Expert – to plan the right experience for in-person and virtual attendees across one or multiple locations:

Smart Solution: The Smart Solution is available at participating IHG Hotels & Resorts globally, except in Greater China.

  • IHG Way of Clean: At the core of the program, with enhanced cleanliness, social distancing and safety measures implemented at all hotels.
  • Onsite rapid Covid-19 testing: Provided by Wellness 4 Humanity, testing solutions are available as an option for meeting planners.
  • Digital collaboration technology: Provided by weframe to increase collaboration amongst meeting attendees, weframe One, an interactive 86′ touch screen, is a cloud-based technology allowing onsite and remote participants to work collaboratively.

Expert Solution: Initially available at nearly 100 hotels in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia, planners can choose to upweight the Smart Solution with additional services, including:

  • Virtual technology experiences: Planners can utilize a full suite of hybrid meeting capabilities allowing in-person and virtual attendees to connect, in addition to advanced audio-visual production and multi-venue linking.
  • Curated food and beverage experiences: Williams Sonoma has an exclusive catalogue of specialty food, drinks and dessert experiences for virtual attendees. Delivered to offsite attendees, this gives all participants a shared meeting experience with opportunities for personalization.

The Smart Solution, available at participating hotels, features a flexible offer for events booked by June 30, 2021 that meet or stay by December 31, 2021 and are 10 – 50 rooms on peak, with no cancellation fees, no attrition fees for rooms that are not booked, up to a 5% rebate towards the master bill, IHG Business Rewards for planners and bookers, and streamlined contracting through use of a short-form contract.

The Expert Solution includes all these benefits but is enhanced to a flat 5% rebate towards the master bill and a streamlined planning template for multi-location events. Event planners and virtual participants also benefit from our unique partnership with Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Click here for details.

Derek DeCross, Senior Vice President, Global Sales, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: «There is a strong desire to return to face-to-face meetings, and welcoming groups back to our hotels is going to take a team effort from those planning events. We’re committed to helping provide quality meeting experiences to give the attendees the confidence they need to feel secure attending in-person events, if that’s the option they choose. With our enhanced technology and new partnerships, we’re confident we have the right options in place for virtual attendees to still experience a best-in-class meeting from our hotels.»

NHS Supply Chain: Logistics are proud winners at this year’s Logistics Awards

OXFORD, England, March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Unipart Logistics and NHS Supply Chain were crowned winners of this year’s prestigious ‘New Facility’ Award, announced today by SHD Logistics.

OXFORD, England, March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Unipart Logistics and NHS Supply Chain were crowned winners of this year’s prestigious ‘New Facility’ Award, announced today by SHD Logistics.

The award recognises the successful opening of a new state-of-the-art facility, NHS Supply Chain Suffolk Park near Bury St Edmunds. This is part of an ambitious transformation and growth strategy designed to deliver benefits and savings back to the NHS, whilst ensuring supply chain resilience during an unprecedented year.

Spanning 147,000 square feet of space, twice that of the existing Bury St Edmunds site, the Suffolk Park regional distribution centre represents a significant investment in the NHS Supply Chain as it gears up for further growth.

The award reflects the agility and innovation that NHS Supply Chain and Unipart deployed to design, build and open the site in May 2020, against the backdrop of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Key to the build was Unipart’s use of digital tools, including Digital Twin deployment, and Augmented and Virtual Reality, which allowed modelling for the new site to take place remotely, without the need for unnecessary travel and in a COVID-Secure manner.

Suffolk Park uses the latest innovative technology to design a fully optimised solution for maximum product integrity as a state-of-the-art medical devices hub. Suffolk Park continues to have a positive impact on the local community both through employment and environmental sustainability initiatives.

Chris Holmes, Supply Chain Director, NHS Supply Chain said: «I would like to thank all the teams that have been involved with this project for all their hard work and dedication to getting this new site opened on time as planned.  This is a significant milestone in our transformation journey which aims to continuously improve our service offering for our customers.»

Claire Walters, Chief Commercial Officer, Unipart Logistics said: «It is an honour to be recognised at the Logistics Awards after COVID-19 brought us all such unparalleled challenges this year. I would like to thank the whole team for their tireless dedication, and NHS Supply Chain for their partnership and support.  Opening the new Bury site early and using the full range of our digital products demonstrated true flexibility, and ensured that the team really delivered for the NHS at a critical time.»

PIA Top Priority, Repeal of Federal Insurance Office, Introduced in Senate

WASHINGTON, March 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) is pleased by the reintroduction of S. 524, the «Federal Insurance Office Abolishment Act». Previously introduced in the 116th Congress, the bill was reintroduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

«In 2010, advocates of federal insurance regulation succeeded in getting the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) established as part of the 2010 Dodd-Frank law–but PIA has never given up on repealing it,» said PIA National President Wayne White.

«Many of the FIO’s duties are examples of federal overreach in the context of our system of state insurance regulation,» White said. «In addition, the FIO has consistently sought new ways to expand its mandate beyond the intent of Congress, which put specific limits on its authority.»

In 2016, PIA was the first national insurance association to call for the repeal of the FIO. Throughout the last decade, the FIO has called for federal regulation of mortgage insurance; for its inclusion in supervisory colleges with state regulators; and for uniform national standards for state guaranty associations. In addition, it seeks to administer the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers (NARAB). Each of these actions is an overreach.

«As long as the office continues to exist, it will remain a very real threat to the successful state-based system of insurance regulation. To do nothing and allow this office to accrue more power over time is tantamount to endorsing an increased federal role in the regulation of insurance. PIA draws a line in the sand on this issue and will not back down from this effort,» said White.

PIA will continue to build a base of support among lawmakers for repeal of the FIO.

Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses. PIA’s web address is www.pianet.com.
