ROME, Jan. 30, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Travelers visiting Rome this summer and onward can strengthen their green thumbs with Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese’s new Floral Experience. Led by the Eternal City’s premier Floral Designer, Flavia Bruni, the workshop includes practical tips in the art of flower arranging. Bruni guides guests with step-by-step instructions, expertise on flower varieties, care instructions, and more. Accompanied by prosecco and light bites, the experience is available at Settimo, the hotel’s elegant garden-inspired rooftop restaurant, or on a guest’s private suite terrace. An optional visit to the local flower market is also available. As a preview, the hotel offers a virtual floral arrangement tutorial with Bruni.

Recipient of the European Master Certification (EMC), Flavia Bruni is the only Italian floral designer recognized by the American Institute of Floral Design (AIFD).

Until travelers can enjoy the experience at the hotel, Bruni shares how people at home can make their own floral arrangement in a video tutorial, viewable here and on the hotel’s Facebook and Instagram.

Highlighted below are the preparation instructions and tips featured in the tutorial:

Instructions:
Soak the floral foam in water before starting. Put it in a plastic container and add to the flowerpot. Secure the floral foam but taping across the pot.
Begin to build the arrangement with woody materials like branches to define the shape and dimension, then add greenery.
Cut off all the leaves from the part of the stem that must be inserted into the foam.
Insert flowers starting with larger flowers, then smaller flowers, ending with fillers.

Tips:
To help the arrangement last longer, keep the floral foam wet.
Use shades of colors more then contrasting colors to give a relaxing, soft sensation.
Use the «Golden Ratio» – the arrangement must be 2 ½ times the size of the container.

Conshohocken Mayor Yaniv Aronson Announces Re-election Run in 2021

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Jan. 30, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Conshohocken Mayor Yaniv Aronson is proud of what has been accomplished since he took office in 2018 and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. «Conshohocken is energetic, vibrant and evolving,» Aronson said. «My role has been to help ensure that nobody is left behind and that all residents feel heard and represented.»

Aronson is a public-school teacher and Instructor at the Montgomery County Community College, a calling that he believes helps in his duties as an elected official.

«Being an effective mayor requires working collaboratively with council and borough staff, much as I have to do in a school setting. Nothing happens in a vacuum,» added Aronson. «I have a strong relationship with our council members, borough administration and our emergency services, and those discussions have yielded real results for residents.»

In his initial run for mayor, Aronson highlighted safety as a major area of focus. «Safety is my top priority,» he shared. «I wanted to help bring major changes to Conshohocken and I believe those have happened on a number of fronts. Working with the state, PennDOT and using resources within the borough, we have new traffic lights and pedestrian crossings at 1st, 3rd, 9th and 11th Avenues along Fayette, the West 6th Avenue stop sign was made permanent, and the 300 and 400 blocks of West 6th were narrowed and realigned with new road markings. Additionally, new lighted pedestrian signal crossings are coming at 4th and 7th Avenues along Fayette

The county and SEPTA have also been a source of major pedestrian improvements within the borough. «We have seen safety upgrades along the trail with new signage, paving, line-painting and lighting at road crossings. The crossings along SEPTA’s tracks were also painted bright yellow for increased visibility. The Schuylkill River Trail is of particular importance to me. It is where I met my wife, Sarah, and I even proposed to her there!»

Aronson hopes to bring more pedestrian safety improvements to Conshohocken, whether through borough services, the county or the state.

As a major second priority, Aronson has worked to bring a spirit of service and volunteerism to Conshohocken. «I decided to run for mayor three years ago because I was involved with our local nonprofits,» he said. «I wanted to do more for the community and on a larger scale.»

In 2019, Yaniv and Sarah started Destination Conshohocken, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to local causes. «We have a wonderful team of volunteers who have helped us provide everything from the Annual Conshohocken Arts Festival and Car Show, clothing and food drives, as well as virtual events during the pandemic for the community.»

Providing mental health resources for residents has also been a major initiative. Sarah Aronson organizes yearly panel discussions for suicide awareness and prevention. The first included members of the business community, the Conshohocken Police Force, local teachers and experts in the field. Sarah also provides quarterly suicide loss survivor support groups and QPR suicide prevention trainings, while working with local organizations such as the Peyton Heart Project and the Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Taskforce to help include as many residents as possible. «The idea is to make suicide a subject that we can talk about as friends and neighbors, and I believe Conshohocken is now a regional and county leader for these conversations and related programming,» said Sarah Aronson.

The environment has been another area of tremendous progress thanks to collaboration with borough council, residents and borough administration. «We now have full-sized recycling bins which helps encourage the community to recycle. We updated our recycling graphic to make it easier to read and the Shade Tree Team planted more than 40 trees in 2019, with plans for more in 2020 before the pandemic hit,» added Yaniv Aronson.

Additionally, the borough runs classes about the lanternfly invasion and provides resources for helping residents manage these pests. Perhaps the most important development of all is the passage of the «Ready for 100%» resolution by council, setting Conshohocken on a path toward energy sustainability by 2035.» Again, we see Conshohocken as a leader in this critical work. I hope to continue working on environmental issues, and solutions, for residents.»

Most recently, Aronson started the «Conshy Strong» initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic to help bring together the community, residents, businesses and nonprofits, as well as support Conshohocken’s local food pantry, Colonial Neighborhood Council.

«The last three years have been a true honor,» he said. «I love being able to serve my community both as a teacher and as mayor. The quarantine has been one of the hardest times I have experienced professionally and in my personal life. Helping us to manage the pandemic and then recover even stronger will be the biggest challenge of 2021 and beyond.»

Travel restrictions: Council reviews the list of third countries for which member states should gradually lift restrictions on non-essential travel

PR Newswire

BRUSSELS, 28 January 2021 /PRNewswire Policy/ — Following a review under the recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU, the Council updated the list of countries for which travel restrictions should be lifted. As stipulated in the Council recommendation, this list will continue to be reviewed every two weeks and, as the case may be, updated.

Based on the criteria and conditions set out in the recommendation, as from 28 January member states should gradually lift the travel restrictions at the external borders for residents of the following third countries:

Australia

New Zealand

Rwanda

Singapore

South Korea

Thailand

China, subject to confirmation of reciprocity

Travel restrictions should also be gradually lifted for the special administrative regions of China Hong Kong and Macao, subject to confirmation of reciprocity.

Residents of Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican should be considered as EU residents for the purpose of this recommendation.

The criteria to determine the third countries for which the current travel restriction should be lifted cover in particular the epidemiological situation and containment measures, including physical distancing, as well as economic and social considerations. They are applied cumulatively. Reciprocity should also be taken into account regularly and on a case-by-case basis.

Schengen associated countries (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) also take part in this recommendation.

Background

On 16 March 2020, the Commission adopted a communication recommending a temporary restriction of all non-essential travel from third countries into the EU for one month. EU heads of state or government agreed to implement this restriction on 17 March. The travel restriction was extended for a further month respectively on 8 April 2020 and 8 May 2020.

On 11 June the Commission adopted a communication recommending the further extension of the restriction until 30 June 2020 and setting out an approach for a gradual lifting of the restriction on non-essential travel into the EU as of 1 July 2020.

On 30 June the Council adopted a recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU, including an initial list of countries for which member states should start lifting the travel restrictions at the external borders. The list is reviewed every two weeks and, as the case may be, updated.

The Council recommendation is not a legally binding instrument. The authorities of the member states remain responsible for implementing the content of the recommendation. They may, in full transparency, lift only progressively travel restrictions towards countries listed.

A Member State should not decide to lift the travel restrictions for non-listed third countries before this has been decided in a coordinated manner.

BEIJING, Jan. 30, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Unit 5 of China’s Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, the world’s first Demonstration project to adopt China’s indigenous Generation III nuclear power technology Hualong One, also known as HPR1000, was put into commercial operation, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced on Jan. 30th.

The success marks a milestone for the development of China’s nuclear power, making China the fourth country to master its indigenous Generation III nuclear power technology following the US, France and Russia.

Hualong One is CNNC’s Generation III nuclear power technology with complete independent intellectual property rights, developed and designed by the corporation on the basis of more than 30 years of nuclear power research, design, manufacturing, construction and operation experiences.

Yu Jianfeng, chairman of CNNC, said that the corporation will accelerate the progress of mass constructing Hualong One reactors and developing new series technologies in a bid to promote the Hualong One to export and achieve the target of carbon neutrality.

Since the start of construction on the world’s first Hualong One reactor, the project has progressed as planned and the safety and quality of it have been well under control.

With a design life of 60 years, Hualong One reactor adopts a 177-reactor core design that refueling the fuel every 18 months. It innovatively uses a combination of «active and passive» safety systems and a double-shell containment, which meets the latest international nuclear safety requirements.

The installed capacity of each Hualong One unit reaches nearly 1200 MWe, and each unit is able to generate nearly 10 billion kWh of electricity annually, meeting the demand of 1 million population within a moderately developed country.

The electricity generated by a Hualong One unit is an equivalent to reducing the consumption of 3.12 million tons of standard coal and emission of 8.16 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, as well as an equivalent to plantation of over 70 million trees annually.

ROME, Jan. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Families looking to live history this summer and onward will enjoy the five-star Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese’s new Roman Culture Experience. Special exclusive activities included range from a tea party with a real princess and watercolor painting to an alfresco day trip via e-bike down one of the oldest roads in history. A gelato workshop with views of the Eternal City is also a highlight.

Detailed below is the plethora of activities offered in the experience as well as additional suggestions for other ways families can explore.

Day Al Fresco on the Appian Way:
Dating back to 312 BC, the Appian Way is the first and most important of the great roads built by the Ancient Romans and known for its rich collection of ancient treasures, archaeological remains, and ruins. Alongside a private guide, families will see the villa of emperor Maxentius, mausoleum of Cecilia Metella that has been transformed into a medieval fortress over the centuries, and ancient church of Saint Sebastian as well as catacombs, Roman ruins, and much more. After a long and pleasurable ride, families will enjoy a picnic and afternoon of learning watercolors en-plein-air with the guidance of a local artist.

Tea with a Princess:
When it’s time for another dose of history, families can take a hop, skip and a jump across the street to Villa Aurora. The estate is home to the only Caravaggio fresco in the world, Michelangelo’s in the garden and many other oversized pieces of art. Here too is where the lady of the house, Principessa Boncompagni-Ludovisi, will partake in an afternoon tea party passionately retelling the villa’s and family’s history.

Learn to Make Gelato:
Back at the hotel, children can learn how to make Italy’s beloved gelato. Kids will be able to personalize their own aprons and chef hats while they learn how to make traditional Italian gelato, cookies, and waffles. Following the class, children and their parents will have the opportunity to taste what was prepared on the hotel’s Settimo restaurant terrace, overlooking the Roman skyline and Villa Borghese gardens.

More Family-Friendly Activities In Rome:
After partaking in the hotel’s experience, families can venture out on their own into Rome and enjoy other optional family-friendly activities. Available at an additional cost, such options suggested are horticulture at Villa Borghese, gladiator school, Italian lessons, Castel Sant‘Angelo and a walking tour of Via dei Coronari. The street is located in the historic center of Rome, surrounded by ancient mosaics and Roman architecture. The road, flanked by buildings built in the 15th and the 16th century, is one of the most picturesque roads of the old city, having maintained the character of an Italian Renaissance street.

GRAYSLAKE, Ill., Jan. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Today, California Energy & Power (CE&P), a U.S. VAWT wind turbine company, announced it has secured its first commercial purchase orders from the Hansei Corporation, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company in the Philippines. Initial turbines will be deployed in strategic locations in the Philippines, with plans to deploy CE&P CALI Vertical-Axis-Wind-Turbines (VAWTs) along a newly built expressway project to provide electricity for lighting systems, signaling/protection, and electronic vehicle charging stations. «Through our collaborative partnership with Hansei, there are planned deployments to power entire villages, government units, and electricity supply for commercial uses,» noted Joe DiBartolo, President and Chairman of California Energy & Power. The deployment of VAWTs for industrial power applications defined as greater than 36 kW denotes a significant new market segment for wind energy.

CE&P’s CALI series modular turbines provide a clean energy industrial power solution and low-cost operation in the widest range of wind conditions in the industry. In this deployment, CE&P has worked closely with Hansei Corporation to supplement the wind generation portion with solar power to maximize energy output in the smallest possible footprint.

The new developing industrial power markets for CALI series VAWTs provides the renewable energy market:

  • An ideal solution for urban, rural, remote island, eco-sensitive and hurricane-prone environments
  • A renewable energy generation solution in locations that cannot deploy Traditional Horizontal-Axis-Wind-Turbines (HAWT’s) due to height, space, environmental, and other constraints
  • A wind generation solution that is wildlife and birds safe
  • A sleek and compact design that is less intrusive to the surrounding community
  • Low operational noise levels < 60 dB
  • A low acquisition, operating, and maintenance cost with a ground-level maintenance design
  • Crane-less installation making the deployment ideal for remote microgrid high wind resource locations.

California Energy & Power CALI VAWTs turbines provide a unique solution for the wind industry that overcomes many of the challenges faced by traditional turbines. The CE&P turbine is adaptable to a wide variety of wind environments due to its revolutionary design. VAWTs can now provide a plug-n-play green energy solution for customers that need industrial grade power for their remote and campus/institutional micro-grids.

«We are fully committed to our partnership with Hansei Corporation to deliver our CE&P product line. Our turbines are designed with fewer components, translating into a dramatic reduction in Operating & Maintenance costs per kWh, the autonomy of ownership, and increased profits for our customers.» Along with Hansei Corporation, we will now deliver viable renewable energy generation to locations in the Philippines and S.E. Asia with limited, higher cost diesel generation in place or no access to electricity. Shipments to begin in 2021″, said President/Chairman of California Energy & Power, Joe DiBartolo.

Hansei Corporation has been committed to delivering innovation in the field of renewable electric power generation, transmission, and distribution systems in the Philippines for over 31 years. Rudy Nuyda, President of Hansei Corporation, stated, «The partnership with CE&P provides a strong technology foundation to overcome the challenges of green energy solutions for continued economic growth and development in the communities and customers. We intend to bring clean, efficient, reliable wind energy in the communities we serve and have selected CE&P for its ability to help us deliver on that commitment.»
