In a City Hard Hit by the Pandemic, Fisher Brothers Complete Indoor Air Quality Projects to Enhance Safety in the Firm’s Iconic New York City Buildings

PORT OF PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — RGF® Environmental Group, Inc., a leader in environmental design and manufacturing, is pleased to announce the completion of a significant indoor air quality (IAQ) enhancement project spanning five Class A buildings in…

PORT OF PALM BEACH, Fla., Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — RGF® Environmental Group, Inc., a leader in environmental design and manufacturing, is pleased to announce the completion of a significant indoor air quality (IAQ) enhancement project spanning five Class A buildings in New York City. Under the design and installation supervision of Clean Sciences Solutions, RGF’s proprietary products with PHI-Cell® technology has been deployed, protecting over 8 million square feet of premier indoor office, commercial and residential space. Owned by Fisher Brothers, this leap forward in indoor air quality enhancement serves as an added layer of protection for tenants, employees, residents and visitors against the SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

RGF’s air treatment solutions inactivated over 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces and over 99.5% of the aerosolized form.

«Fisher Brothers is committed to ‘Excellence in Offices‘, and as a fourth-generation company, our history is tied to that of New York City. We want to contribute to the return of a vibrant Manhattan through the adoption and deployment of world-class air treatment solutions for the hundreds of thousands of individuals who work and live in and visit our buildings,» notes Kenneth Fisher, Co-Managing Partner of Fisher Brothers. «We are committed to a safe work environment for our neighbors, friends and colleagues.»

«As a national leader in the fight to overcome the global pandemic, RGF is working tirelessly in the deployment of our industry-leading, patented air purification products in office buildings across the United States,» notes Tony Julian, Vice President of Commercial Products, RGF Environmental Group, Inc. «This project provides improved indoor air quality for some of Manhattan’s most iconic buildings. We are pleased to partner with Clean Science Solutions and Fisher Brothers as leaders in their field.»

Thomas Misisco, CEO of Clean Science Solutions, notes, «Fisher Brothers is leading the way to a higher standard in Indoor Air Quality for Manhattan office and residential buildings. With the installation of RGF’s air treatment solutions, Fisher Brothers demonstrates their commitment to tenant and resident safety.»

The full-scale installation of RGF’s PHI Cell® technology was performed following a pilot program overseen by multiple third-party independent laboratory consultants. The pilot project compared baseline air quality measurements against space with active PHI-Cell® technologies installed. As a part of the pilot, engineers introduced volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the test space. The laboratory results confirmed that RGF’s equipment rapidly and effectively eliminated the VOCs. While the pilot project was active, the building engineers began preparation and planning for continued IAQ equipment installation. Upon review of the successful pilot project and confirmation of the findings, installation throughout five buildings commenced and was completed according to a fast-tracked schedule.

The five buildings include:

Not only does RGF technology effectively eliminate VOCs, but RGF’s active air treatment solution also kills bacteria and viruses on surfaces and in the air. An independent third-party study evaluated the efficacy of RGF’s proprietary products with PHI-Cell® technology in the inactivation of SARS-CoV-2. The study demonstrated a rate of effectiveness that is greater than 99.9% against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The testing, performed at the Innovative Bioanalysis Laboratories in Cypress, California, looked at neutralizing the virus within the occupied space in the air and on surfaces.

Video results of the study can be viewed here:

Peoples’ Climate Vote: Biggest Ever Survey of Public Opinion on Climate Change Finds Support for Wide Ranging Action

NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

Full release here, and report here.

Sixty-four percent of people say climate change is a global emergency according to results of the Peoples’ Climate Vote, the world’s biggest ever survey of public opinion on climate change, published today. Results will be shared with governments in a pivotal year for climate action, with negotiations at the UN Climate Summit in November in Glasgow, UK.

The survey, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the University of Oxford, engaged 1.22m people in 50 countries. It was distributed across mobile gaming networks in order to include hard-to-reach audiences, including 550,000 people under 18 – a key constituency on climate change.

Respondents were asked if climate change was a global emergency and whether they supported eighteen key climate policies across six areas: economy, energy, transport, food & farms, nature and protecting people.

The most popular climate policies were conserving forests and land (54% public support), more solar, wind and renewable power (53%), adopting climate-friendly farming techniques (52%) and investing more in green businesses and jobs (50%).

Results showed support for broad climate policies beyond the current state of play. In eight of the ten survey countries with the highest emissions from the power sector, majorities backed more renewable energy. In four out of the five countries with highest emissions from land-use change, there was majority support for conserving forests and land. Nine out of ten of the countries with most urbanized populations backed increased use of clean electric cars and buses, or bicycles.

UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner said: «The results clearly illustrate that urgent climate action has broad support amongst people around the globe, across nationalities, age, gender and education level. But more than that, the poll reveals how people want their policymakers to tackle the crisis and signals ways in which countries can move forward with public support as we work together to tackle this enormous challenge.»

Younger people (aged 14-18) were more likely to say climate change is an emergency than older people, with nearly 70% saying this. Other age groups were not far behind, with 65% of those 18-35 agreeing, 66% aged 36-59, and 58% over 60.

Prof. Stephen Fisher, Department of Sociology, University of Oxford, said: «The Peoples’ Climate Vote has delivered a treasure trove of data on public opinion that we’ve never seen before. Recognition of the climate emergency is much more widespread than previously thought and most people clearly want a strong and wide-raging policy response.»

The Clean Economy Employment Now («CLEEN») Project Launches Nation’s First Database with Actionable Ideas for Federal Leaders to Combat Climate Change, «Build Back Better,» and Advance Climate Justice

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The CLEEN Project announces the launch of our nation’s first co-operative database of actionable ideas to combat climate change, Build Back Better, and advance climate justice. Designed specifically for federal leaders, <a target="_blank"…

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The CLEEN Project announces the launch of our nation’s first co-operative database of actionable ideas to combat climate change, Build Back Better, and advance climate justice. Designed specifically for federal leaders, the database is searchable by the Biden-Harris administration’s «Build Back Better» industry verticals, governmental authority, and specific types of governmental action, such as public-private partnerships, procurement, tax credits, and White House-led initiatives.

«There now exists a common home for climate solutions that dramatically eases idea discovery and sharing by federal leaders and helps amplify the great work of climate-focused think tanks, environmental justice organizations, private sector actors, and policy experts. This new and inclusive home is the result of the commitment and enthusiasm of hundreds of climate leaders and experts who want to help the Biden-Harris Administration tackle some of our nation’s most pressing problems.»
Jeffrey Tannenbaum, Advisory Board member; Founder, sPower LLC

«In less than 20 years, we have gone from decarbonization of the electricity grid being impossible to the President of the United States saying that it has to be done by 2035. There is an essential role for the government to play in setting the rules not just in electricity but in all areas that need to be decarbonized, and this is a powerful tool that will help advance the battle against climate change.»
Jigar Shah, Advisory Board member; Co-Founder, Generate Capital; Founder, SunEdison.

«Frontline communities have borne the brunt of climate change. As we Build Back Better, it’s critical that we not continue to perpetuate economic and environmental injustices. In addition to proposing policies that center equity and primarily serve frontline communities, we screened recommendations to prevent adversely impacting already overburdened communities.»
Anna Lising, Advisory Board member; Climate Justice Advocate

«We have taken a highly pragmatic approach by focusing on actionability and are delighted to note that more than two-thirds of the current database can be implemented under existing government authority. It is a great mix of actionable ideas and some heavier lifts that may get across the finish line as part of a stimulus bill or budget reconciliation.»
Greg Kats, Advisory Board member; CEO, Smart Surfaces Coalition

«Federal climate leaders now have access to a first-of-a-kind database of concrete, actionable policies to rapidly ‘Build Back Better.’ Many of Clean Energy for Biden’s 13,000 volunteers contributed to The CLEEN Project to build this inclusive and robust database for tackling carbon pollution while supporting a clean economy.»
Nidhi Thakar, Advisory Board Member; Co-Chair, Clean Energy for Biden; Former Senior Advisor for Loan Programs Office, US Department of Energy

This decade will be the most decisive ever in human history in what we enact to address the climate crisis, equity, and health. The CLEEN Project is an innovative structure that addresses some of the finest of what we can devise in policy, technology, financing, organizing and deployment strategies that will be valuable to all levels of government, the private sector, and civil society. I’m personally hoping we can find a way for the Project to continue and expand through the first year of the new Administration.»
Heidi VanGenderen, Advisory Board Member; Former Director of Public Engagement, US Department of Energy

Tennessee Sports Betting Extends History-Making Start With $180 Million December, According to PlayTenn

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Tennessee’s online sportsbooks continued to gain momentum, reaching $180 million in wagers in December to close 2020 with the best two-month debut in U.S. sports betting history. LAS VEGAS, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Tennessee’s online sportsbooks continued to gain momentum, reaching $180 million in wagers in December to close 2020 with the best two-month debut in U.S. sports betting history. An untested market before launching in November, Tennessee is off to the kind of start that almost no one could have predicted, according to analysts from PlayTenn, which offers news and analysis of the fledgling Tennessee gaming market.

«Tennessee launched with what many thought were a lot of question marks, but it is proving to be The Little Engine that Could,» said Jessica Welman, analyst for PlayTenn.com. «It seemed operators were slow to get to the state, many were concerned the 10% hold mandate would tamp down demand, and there were questions on whether or not the Tennessee Education Lottery was up to the task of regulating the industry. Those concerns seem like a distant memory now as Tennessee has catapulted itself into becoming a major player in the U.S. industry in just two months.»

In a December that featured four NFL Sundays, down from five in November, bettors placed $180.9 million in wagers, according to official data released Tuesday evening by The Tennessee Education Lottery. That topped November’s $131.4 million handle by 37.6%. December’s wagers produced a «win» of $13.9 million for the operators, up from $13.2 million in November. And the month’s win injected $3.1 million into state coffers.

Through the market’s first two months, Tennessee has:

  • Generated $312.3 million in bets, by far the most of any legal sports betting jurisdiction in U.S. history. The next closest was Indiana, which produced $126.9 million.
  • Shattered the records for the best first month and the best second month. Indiana held both records, hitting $35.2 million in September 2019 before reaching $91.7 million in October 2019.
  • Set a new standard for operator revenue with $27.1 million. Indiana generated $20.1 million in its first two months.

Tennessee’s hot start can be attributed to several major factors. First, the state launched its sports betting industry with online sports betting. Secondly, with no retail component in the state, there was no in-person registration requirement for online sports betting, which can artificially depress a market. None of Tennessee’s seven neighboring states offered online sports betting during the Volunteer State’s first two months, and only two, Arkansas and Mississippi, are home to any retail betting. And the Tennessee Titans’ playoff run spurred local interest.

«Tennessee launched under near-perfect conditions and that can be seen in the early results,» said Dustin Gouker, analyst for PlayTenn.com. «Even with added competition from Virginia now going live, Tennessee’s start has established the state as a significant player in the U.S. And I don’t see anything that will stop the market’s momentum in the short-term.»

Tennessee is now the nation’s seventh-largest sports betting market with plenty of growth still to come.

Only four sportsbooks are in operation so far. But more are expected soon. That includes the imminent launch of TwinSpires as well as WynnBET and William Hill.

«Having FanDuel and DraftKings, the nation’s two largest operators, in place at launch has helped fuel Tennessee’s surge,» Welman said. «But more high-quality operators will help mature the market. As good as Tennessee’s start has been, the best days are still to come.»
