WASHINGTON, Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Mayors across the United States are being recognized today for their local climate efforts as part of the 14th Annual Climate Protection Awards, an initiative sponsored by The U.S. Conference of Mayors and Walmart.

Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto and West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor have won top honors for 2020, joining 10 other mayoral awardees. The award program demonstrates how cities of all sizes are dealing with the effects of climate change and the impact mayors are having on protecting the environment for future generations.

Starting at 12 noon ET today there will be two Zoom events featuring these award-winning mayors and their initiatives. The events are open to media. The first session at 12 noon ET will feature the large city winners (cites of 100,000+ population). To register, see here. The small city winners (cities below 100,000 population) will be featured at 2 pm ET. To register, see here.

«Mayors Peduto and Cantor show us how local leadership is delivering cost-effective solutions to the growing climate challenges before our cities, our nation and the world,» said USCM President Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. «The innovation and creativity of these mayors and the other award winners will hopefully inspire other mayors, as well as all our federal partners, to join us in taking climate action.»

«The really exciting part of the Western Pennsylvania Energy Consortium is that it has brought together a critical mass of energy users to reshape our region’s energy future,» said Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto. «This broad partnership saves money for our taxpayers, creates local clean energy jobs and reduces our carbon use, today and into the future.»

Research and Markets Logo

COVID-19 Crisis Brings the Environment into the Spotlight. With Energy Management Being Vital for Saving the Environment, BEMS is Poised for a 12.4% Growth Run Over the Next 7 Years

The global Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) is expected to reach US$8.4billion by the year 2027, trailing a post COVID-19 CAGR of 12.4%, over the analysis period 2020 through 2027.

Building Energy Management System (BEMS) are sophisticated systems integrating hardware, software, and services with information and communication technologies for monitoring, automating, managing, and controlling the energy requirements of buildings. BEMS are microcomputer systems that automatically monitor and control energy-consuming electrical and mechanical equipment such as thermostats, HVAC, and lighting within a single building or a group of buildings in order to enhance energy-efficiency and comfort.

Components such as air conditioners, lighting, boilers, water heaters, elevating machines, outlet machines, plumbing, and sanitation equipment are controlled through BEMS. BEMS function by connecting building engineering services to a central computer that enables control over on/off times, humidity, temperature and other factors.

The concept of BEMS plays a vital role in managing energy demand, especially in multi-building sites and large-sized complex buildings. With the introduction of cloud computing technologies, the functionality BEMS has expanded beyond conventional energy analytics and energy visualization to include demand response and property management. BEMS are primarily used in commercial buildings including hospitals, hotels, educational institutions, club houses, IT parks, malls, and industries.

Although immediate financial challenges may hinder energy efficiency investments in the year 2020, COVID-19 has nevertheless has set the alarm bells ringing. The pandemic has given the world a foretaste of how an environmental crisis can disrupt life as we know it.

The rush to turn residential & commercial buildings into smart buildings will be greater post Covid-19 & beyond, as sustainability & safety become top priority for a pandemic scarred world focused on resilience. The increased post pandemic focus shed on energy consumed by the buildings sector is expected to bring fresh opportunities for growth of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS). The growth in the market will be driven by the growing regulatory pressure to curb energy wastage in buildings; evolution of smart building technologies and their role in pushing up the property value of buildings; legislation of new green building codes; and emergence of IoT and cloud as a potential game changer for the BEMS market.

The growing government focus worldwide on stepping up investments in smart cities will benefit demand for BEMS as energy management in smart homes and buildings is the first step towards building energy efficient smart cities. Key benefits of BEMS driving its adoption include reduced cost by conserving energy; helps buildings obtain green certification; provides facility managers real-time visibility into energy consumption trends; easy identification of electrical anomalies; and reduced risk of power spikes, shutdowns and electrical equipment failure.

The ongoing migration to smart grids and the resulting grid operators’ adoption of automated demand response (DR) technologies for efficiently managing energy demand is driving the onus on BEMS as a basic prerequisite to deploy DR technologies.

DUBLIN, Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The «Nuclear Decommissioning Services – Global Market Trajectory & Analytics» report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.

Research and Markets Logo

Over 319 Reactors Worldwide Are Aged Over 30 Years. The Higher Maintenance Load Sends Nuclear Decommissioning Services on an Accelerated Path to Growth at 5.9%

The global market for Nuclear Decommissioning Services is projected to reach US$7.9 billion by the year 2027, trailing a post COVID-19 CAGR of 5.9%, over the analysis period 2020 through2027. The world can never put behind the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. A dangerous mix of challenges currently confronts the nuclear power industry.

Stiff competition from low-cost natural gas; increased focus on cost cutting; reduced emphasis on safety, represent a lethal cocktail of trends in the industry. To ensure continued operation, reactor owners now need to take proactive measures in preventing aging-related failures. Intensive monitoring and preventive maintenance needed by aging reactors is expected to push up demand for nuclear decommissioning services.

Despite several issues and challenges, nuclear power is gaining acceptance as an essential component for creating a balanced energy mix that provides energy security and the flexibility to adapt to changing political, economic and environmental dynamics in every geographic region. Europe represents the largest Nuclear Power market worldwide, followed by the United States. The U.S. emerged as the single largest market for nuclear electricity over the years, followed by Russia, France, and Japan.

While established nuclear countries such as the US and UK are expected to remain the core markets for nuclear energy projects, future demand is anticipated from the Asian market, in particular China and India. In addition to spearheading projects across countries such as the UK, Argentina, Romania, and Pakistan, China is pursuing opportunities across Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Turkey.

Nuclear power represents a major energy source, accounting for about 11% of the global electricity generation. Reflecting the diversity of nuclear power generation pattern across the world, the energy’s quotient in the total electricity generated across the 31 nations with nuclear power generation capability, ranges from 75% to about 2% with France and China representing the two extremes. The US, France and Germany are the world’s largest consumers of nuclear power, followed by Japan, Russia, and Korea. India, China, as well as South-East Asia feature are expected to lead the world in terms of nuclear reactors adoption.

While Europe is witnessing the development of new nuclear power plants in Russia, the UK, France, Romania and Finland, the US is focusing on expanding the life of its nuclear reactors. Meanwhile in and Asia, aggressive investments are being earmarked for building new nuclear power capacities in countries like China and India, while Japan is poised to restart several of the long-term discontinued nuclear reactors. Up gradation of existing nuclear technologies and transition to next generation systems is expected to continue unfazed by controversies surrounding safety and security of nuclear power. The drive to achieve greater efficiency and maximum safety in comparison with earlier generation plants is fingered as a key factor lending traction to investments in this space.

BALTIMORE, MD, Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The book Vagabundo sin Retorno was created by Saúl Martínez. Saúl is an author who was born in Alegría, El Salvador. He has dedicated his life to various jobs. His free time is devoted to reading and writing as well as giving advice to people.

Martínez said this about his book: «Literature allows us to present and develop essential themes. Today I present new personal ideas. In them, I speak of social realism and life that would exist if we all felt love.

Love of neighbor and God and a new being are about to be born. Through literature, we can talk about the good and the bad and everything that happens in our country, as well as worldwide.

If many speak of better opportunities for life, work, health, education, etc., it is sad to write these words because we hear them mentioned every day and nothing at all.

Of what we live in the country, there are only unanswered questions for the entire impoverished population of our country; the unemployed; and those who do not have a roof, education, health, and food while the so-called father of the country only has the sarcasm he makes from day to day when he watches his people walk from dawn to dusk, without hope of obtaining employment. There is no doubt that we live in the street of bitterness.

I would like that in this country, which I love so much, there were no complaints, pain, suffering, exploitation, unemployment, and much less marginalization. There are many times I would like to die and be born in another time when there is no exploitation but only love and living with a spirit full of courage toward success and improvement.»

Published by Page Publishing, Saúl Martínez’s new book Vagabundo sin Retorno will inspire critical wisdom upon the readers as they immerse themselves in the wise expositions about life’s complexities.

Consumers who wish to be filled with grace and knowledge through sagacious literature about life can purchase Vagabundo sin Retorno in any bookstore or online at Apple iTunes, Amazon.com, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
