NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTC QB: BNET), a developer of advanced livestock waste treatment technology that recovers high-value coproducts from the waste, today released a mid-year update and provided an outlook on the rest of 2020. The report focuses on three key areas:

  1. Technology and organic co-product development
  2. Midwest sustainable and/or organic corn-finished beef opportunity
  3. Pennsylvania and national policy and legislation

The full update can be found on Bion’s website at https://biontech.com/bion-update-and-outlook-august-2020/.

Craig Scott, Bion’s director of communications, stated, «We’ve had an exciting year, capped off with our first OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) Listing. While we have experienced challenges and delays like most, we are now back on track with our optimization trials. We expect to complete our final optimization phase around the beginning of September, subject to engineering and other potential delays, prior to an initial commercial installation.

We are increasingly optimistic about the opportunity to produce sustainable and/or organic corn-finished beef (and other animal protein products: dairy, pork, poultry/eggs). Consumer demand continues to trend toward improved sustainability, safety, and animal and worker welfare. Further, the pandemic has highlighted both the importance of responsible taxpayer spending on clean water and other issues, which should help move policy change, as well as the importance of keeping America’s food supply chain in America. We just need to clean it up and at the lowest cost possible.

Above all, we are increasingly optimistic for our shareholders. Recent successes by Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat (BYND), which enjoyed one of the strongest IPOs of 2019, indicate a strong appetite for transformation in the food supply chain from institutional and Wall Street investors. While we are not Beyond Meat, if successful, Bion’s business strategy encompasses a much broader swath of the industry than just the ground meat market that analysts have identified as the opportunity for plant-based meat substitutes. Food for thought.»

Bion provides comprehensive treatment and resource recovery for animal waste from large-scale livestock production facilities. The technology platform achieves dramatic verified reductions in environmental impacts, including nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), ammonia, greenhouse and other gases, as well as pathogens in the waste stream, while improving resource and operational efficiencies through the production of valuable coproducts. JGL Files Lawsuit on behalf of Montgomery County parents & schools

GREENBELT, Md., Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — A group of Montgomery County parents and Montgomery County religious schools filed a suit in Greenbelt Federal court this evening seeking an injunction against Montgomery County’s order closing classroom instruction in religious and private schools.

The suit alleges that the County Health Officer lacked the authority to make such a sweeping order, and that County’s this action interfered with the constitutional rights of religious and other private schools.

The suit references that early in the day, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan amended his emergency orders to make it clear that the County cannot rely on the governor’s emergency power to close religious and other private schools. It is unclear whether the County will attempt to enforce its order relying on other legal authority.

The plaintiffs are being represented by Timothy F. Maloney of Joseph, Greenwald & Laake, P.A.

«This County’s order targeting religious and private schools for closure was the only one of its kind in the entire country,» said Timothy Maloney, attorney for the plaintiffs.  «It was plainly unconstitutional. It disrupted the lives of thousands of Montgomery County families.  Now that Governor Hogan has acted decisively, the County should immediately rescind its illegal order.»

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Our world is changing, and in these historic times, businesses are being challenged in new ways. In the wake of a global pandemic and in the midst of revolutionary protests against racism, companies have begun to focus on offering more prevalent online platforms and using these platforms to stand up and support a cause.

These two worlds have collided with Grasstaken, a full-service media agency based in Philadelphia that focuses on creating digital content for social awareness. The agency, which opened in the summer of 2019, has seen an uptick in business over the past months. Priding itself on culturally responsive branding, Grasstaken places a high value on supporting small businesses and advocates of social good.

The media agency made history earlier this year with their campaign with Hanifa, a contemporary apparel line for women. The campaign was a 3D virtual fashion show which was aimed at bringing awareness to coltan mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The revolutionary fashion show, launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, was made accessible to audiences all over the world via Instagram.

Grasstaken has also partnered with One Fair Wage, which is an organization focused on bringing awareness to tip workers across the U.S., and has worked with celebrities such as Jane Fonda and Hilary Clinton to promote their platform.

They have also created online content for Black Menswear, a Dallas-based network of men looking to shine a positive light on the black culture in the media and to bring awareness to the negative stereotypes of the black man in America.

Currently, Grasstaken is working with Samsung NEXT Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team and Diverse Founders Initiative (DFI) to provide digital content strategy and production. The work aims to increase diversity within the tech founder sphere, highlight equal opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs from all walks of life, and provide content that is culturally relevant.

And most recently, an artist from Grasstaken created an illustration and gifted the rights to the family of Breonna Taylor, whose tragic death has sparked a fight for police reform all over the country. The artwork will be used to support a campaign with the WBNA and Phenomenal Foundation. The image has also been posted by many high-profile individuals in entertainment, including NBA Players, Natalie Portman, and Tracee Ellis Ross, among others.

«In a time when having a digital platform is just as important as social awareness, Grasstaken focuses on creating and growing responsible digital content for businesses of all backgrounds,» said Rod Coplin, the lead creator at Grasstaken. «We value supporting causes that can truly make a difference in our world.»

TAIPEI, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Acer’s ConceptD line of products for creators has won two 2020 Red Dot Awards for Brand and Communication Design. ConceptD’s global marketing campaign «Creativity Decoded» was recognized by the jury in the «Digital Campaign» category, while its eco-friendly packaging won an award in the «Sustainable Packaging Design» category. ConceptD’s submissions were hand-selected by a jury of 24 international experts for quality and creativity from a pool of 6,992 total submissions.

ConceptD’s «Creativity Decoded» Campaign

«Creativity Decoded» is a full-funnel global digital campaign which puts a spotlight on creators and their work. Following the brand’s slogan of «Let Creators be Creators», Acer reached out to several acclaimed artists, designers and studios to work together on one of their «passion projects» – something they had always wanted to do, but didn’t have the means to carry out. The creators were supplied with ConceptD computers to facilitate their work, an ideal working companion for creators and design professionals.

The campaign consists of a series of videos, each highlighting a unique piece produced by an artist or studio. The videos peel apart the final projects, layer by layer, in order to reveal the process that went into them. In additional Behind the Scenes episodes, each creator discusses their creative process and the role that technology, particularly powerful computing hardware, plays in their creation process.

The videos can be viewed here, on the Creativity Decoded campaign’s landing page, while the campaign case study can be viewed here.

ConceptD Notebooks’ Eco-Friendly Package Design

Acer believes that corporations are in a unique position to create positive changes within the communities they inhabit. ConceptD aims to redefine the entire computing experience and to drive the industry forward. This commitment to innovation led to the development of eco-friendly packaging that was recognized via a Red Dot award.

ConceptD’s notebook packaging design strikes a balance between size and protection, and most components make use of shared packaging to reduce material waste. All LDPE foam packaging was removed without compromising protection, while plastic bags and film covers were eliminated wherever possible. Additionally, soy ink printing was utilized to prevent further pollution during the packaging’s reclamation process in the future. Overall, the packaging is nearly virgin-plastic free, is 100% recyclable and made from 90% recycled pulp.

A brief tour of ConceptD’s eco-friendly packaging is available here.

The Red Dot Award

Archbishop Elpidophoros and Governor Andrew Cuomo Preside at Ceremony to Resume Construction of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at The World Trade Center

NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — On Monday, August 3, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, with the leadership of the Friends of St. Nicholas and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, visited the World Trade Center to witness the resumption of construction of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox…

NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — On Monday, August 3, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, with the leadership of the Friends of St. Nicholas and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, visited the World Trade Center to witness the resumption of construction of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine, the only house of worship destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Once rebuilt, the Church and National Shrine will serve as a powerful symbol of resilience and a beacon of hope, welcoming people of all faiths to honor the lives lost on 9/11.

In his remarks, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America stated, «Nearly twenty years ago, our Saint Nicholas fell with thousands of our fellow human beings lost in the ashes of 9/11, and countless others wounded in body, heart, and soul by a savage act of hatred and terror. We cannot, we must not, and we shall not let this stand. We are going to open the Saint Nicholas Church and National Shrine as a sign of love, not hate; a sign of reconciliation, not of prejudice; and a sign of the ideals that exist in this great American Nation, where one’s religious liberty and freedom of conscience never excludes, but only embraces.»

The Archbishop blessed the construction workers, praying that God might «protect the workers who have returned to this holy place to rebuild in safety and peace. Guide their hands aright, shield their eyes from harm, grant unto them and all who contribute to this Holy Work every blessing of body and soul.»

Governor Cuomo stated, «In the face of tragedy and destruction on 9/11, the St. Nicholas community literally held its ground against what was an inconceivable tragedy inspired by hate, instead relying on the power of love to restore what was lost and create a symbolism of faith and tolerance.» Governor Cuomo continued, «In New York, we know from experience that rebuilding after a crisis means more than just restoring bricks and mortar or reviving an economy; it also requires healing a broken spirit. This church helps achieve that healing, and it will be a national shrine, rising on a place made sacred by the suffering that took place here and will send a powerful message to the world that New York is a state made stronger by tolerance and our respect for one another.»

Rick Cotton, Executive Director of the Port Authority said, «Today marks a new chapter in the historic rebuild of Lower Manhattan. The new St. Nicholas Church and National Shrine will be a source of inspiration and peace, while also helping to share the historical contributions of the Greek-Orthodox community to all who visit and worship. The Port Authority is proud to have worked alongside Governor Cuomo to bring us to this important milestone and today, we are pleased to see construction resume. I commend the work of the Archdiocese and Friends of St. Nicholas as they have worked hard to ensure that this project honors the strength and resolve of our World Trade Center Campus.»

Kevin J. O’Toole, Chairman of the Port Authority said, «In a world filled with so much uncertainty, this restart brings hope that we are closer to restoring St. Nicholas as a solemn place for parishioners and visitors to worship, reflect, and honor the innumerable sacrifices made after the September 11th attacks. The church is a symbol of the continued resilience that has helped bring a rebirth to the World Trade Center campus, and today is a day to recognize those hard-fought achievements.»

The election of Archbishop Elpidophoros in May 2019 reset the stage for a new, transparent approach to complete the Saint Nicholas reconstruction, which had been abruptly halted in December 2017 due to a series of managerial and financial crises in the Archdiocese. With the encouragement of Governor Cuomo, the non-profit Friends of St. Nicholas was formed to oversee the project. This group of prominent Greek Orthodox Christians, under the guidance of Archbishop Elpidophoros and Fr. Alexander Karloutsos, and the leadership of Dennis Mehiel, Michael Psaros and John Catsimatidis, raised the funds required to complete the construction of the Church and National Shrine.

At the conclusion of the event, Archbishop Elpidophoros, Governor Cuomo and those in attendance at the event observed the placement of the first skylight in the dome of the Church. Dennis Mehiel, Chairman of the Friends of St. Nicholas, remarked, «We have just witnessed the placement of the first piece of glass that what will eventually become a beacon of light at Ground Zero, shining brightly as a symbol of good versus evil and providing a peaceful and prayerful place for people of all faiths who visit the 9/11 Memorial.»

The Church is slated to be completed in the fall of 2021.

WATERFORD, Ireland, Aug. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — MacuLearn, an online learning resource for eye care practitioners, has announced its partnership with Pacific University College of Optometry.

«We are incredibly excited about this partnership,» says Professor Nolan. «We have seen that Pacific University in particular, has embraced the value of educating students and future health care professionals about the benefits nutrition can bring to patients across medical disciplines. The University is very much on the forefront in this way, and, aligned with the values of MacuLearn.»

MacuLearn, which launched in March of 2020, was created by a pair of researchers who’ve earned global recognition for their work in the field of nutrition, Professor John Nolan, of Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, Waterford Institute of Technology and Dr. James Stringham, Visual Performance Laboratory, Duke University Medical School.

The two, in addition to their own academic standing with respect to nutrition and vision science, have chosen to partner with optometry universities to ensure the integrity and specificity of the MacuLearn education. MacuLearn provides educational courses that are delivered by those that have conducted the research, made the scientific discoveries and developed the protocols that are now becoming  the standards of care in optometry and ophthalmology.

«Equally important as the integrity and quality of the courses, is their accessibility,» Professor Nolan states. This rings true now more than ever with the impact the current pandemic has had on travel and gatherings. «Being able to safely stay up to date on the latest scientific developments is of utmost importance, both in order to maintain licensure and, also to ensure the best outcomes for patients.»

The MacuLearn educational platform has courses dedicated to the Optometrist, and also to key office staff, who are integral in delivering patient care. The course selection for both doctors and staff will continue to expand with the latest information on ocular nutrition, as well as in emerging areas of interest such as contrast sensitivity and sports vision.
