BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — With travelers dreaming of new discoveries in 2021, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is ready to welcome them as it unveils the initial hotels around the world exemplifying the brand’s new vision: Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, USA; Sheraton Denver Downtown, USA; Sheraton Tel Aviv, Israel; Sheraton Grand Dubai, UAE; Sheraton Guangzhou, China and Sheraton Mianyang, China.

Following Marriott International’s announcement in 2018 of its plans to refresh the iconic brand for today’s travelers, the completion of the renovations at these hotels is an important milestone in the brand’s reinvention journey. There is now momentum building for the transformation, with over 40 hotels around the world expected to reflect the new brand vision by the end of 2022.

«This is a pivotal moment for Sheraton as we see hotel owners embracing the new vision and bringing it to life for the first time,» said Amanda Nichols, Senior Director and Global Brand Leader of Sheraton Hotels. «Over the past 80 years, Sheraton has always offered guests the time-honored assurance of a welcoming community. We’re proud to have built on this legacy in the new concept, creating an environment where guests can enjoy all the familiar comforts of the Sheraton brand, but with fresh, contemporary updates. As travel resumes, we look forward to welcoming guests into this new chapter for Sheraton.»

Drawing on its roots as a community hub for locals and guests at flagship locations globally, the new approach for Sheraton creates an intuitive and holistic experience with places to connect, be productive and feel part of something. The layered design approach, balancing a sense of timelessness with a fresh and modern feel, aims to create an environment where guests feel comfortable and at ease, whether working, meeting or relaxing.

A Modern-Day «Public Square»

At the heart of the new Sheraton experience is the lobby. This has been re-imagined as the «Public Square» of the hotel; a holistic, open space that invites people to join together or be alone amongst others, creating a sense of energy and belonging. With a flow that is natural, intuitive and uncomplicated, guests have what they need within arm’s reach, all set against an inviting backdrop that feels warm and comfortable yet refined.

Built into the new design are signature elements such as the Community Table, an inviting, purpose-built workspace that will anchor each hotel’s lobby and allow guests to work, eat and drink while soaking up the energy of the space. Following Sheraton’s philosophy to embrace both form and function, these tables are custom designed with amenities to keep guests productive, including built-in lighting, outlets and wireless charging stations.

The Studios, flexible gathering spaces available to book whenever a guest needs it, celebrate collaborative working and connecting with others in a less formal setting. Built on raised platforms and enclosed with glass, the tech-enabled Studios welcome guests to contribute to the energy of the public space while also providing privacy and focus for everything from small group meetings to private dining experiences. Soundproof booths are also strategically placed throughout the lobby, perfect for a spontaneous phone call to connect privately with friends, family or colleagues from afar.

Built with its global, productivity-focused guest in mind, Sheraton’s new elevated food & beverage philosophy creates a focal point in the lobby experience. Part bar, part coffee bar, part market, the Coffee Bar Bar is a central pillar of the new Sheraton vision, transitioning guests seamlessly from day to night with food & beverage options that are locally-sourced, easy to consume while working and customizable to accommodate all tastes and time schedules.

Guest Rooms & Club Lounges That Champion Productivity

In the new guest rooms, guests are welcomed into a bright, well-lit space with warm, residential appeal, comprised of soft finishes and light wood tones accentuated with black metal accents. The rooms have been reimagined with new tools for productivity, such as a height-adjustable work table, integrated power and charging and layered lighting; while still retaining some of the classic Sheraton signature amenities, including the luxurious Sheraton Sleep Experience platform bed. The guest bathroom has also been completely redesigned with new and modern walk-in showers and bath amenities by Gilchrist & Soames.

The Sheraton Club Lounge, an exclusive space for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members and Sheraton Club level guests, has also undergone an upgrade as part of the transformation. The new design ensures the space is welcoming, elevated and purposefully designed for a layered and engaging experience that transitions seamlessly with activations from morning to evening. Guests will find updated food and beverage offerings, premium amenities, enhanced connectivity, and 24/7 access to provide a private environment.

Commitment to Clean

Sheraton Hotels are following Marriott International’s Commitment to Clean protocols, created in partnership with leading experts in food and water safety, hygiene and infection prevention, and hotel operations. These protocols include mandated mask wearing for all associates within the hotel, and the use of disinfectants recommended by the Centers for Disease Control in the country/region where the hotel operates and the World Health Organization to sanitize surfaces in the hotels.

A Continuous Journey

There are currently 446 Sheraton hotels in 74 countries and territories around the world, making it Marriott International’s most global brand. In 2021, Sheraton Hotels will continue on its transformation journey, with the brand expecting to showcase new guest experience programs and complete renovations in locations including Nashville, USA; Toronto, Canada; Nice, France; Kiev, Ukraine; and Xi’an, China.

Ram 1500 TRX Named FOUR WHEELER ‘2021 Pickup Truck of the Year’

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ —

  • 2021 Ram 1500 TRX earns award in its debut year from leading off-road publication
  • FOUR WHEELER judges evaluated new models from several manufacturers to determine the Ram 1500 TRX as «2021 Pickup Truck of the Year»
  • Ram 1500 TRX is designed bolt by bolt to significantly outperform every other truck and rigorously tested to handle the most punishing conditions with extreme capability and durability

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX – the quickest, fastest and most powerful mass-produced truck in the world – has been named FOUR WHEELER «2021 Pickup of the Year.» The award is given annually by the editors of the opinion-leading, off-road enthusiast publication.

«We’re incredibly proud to earn this award from the respected experts at FOUR WHEELER and feel validated that we continue to build the best trucks available,» said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. «Our new Ram 1500 TRX sets the benchmark for extreme performance pickup trucks and clearly telegraphs the Ram Truck brand’s leadership in the segment.» Over the course of a week, FOUR WHEELER’s judges conducted a variety of tests spanning more than 1,000 miles of varied terrain that included pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks, mud and snow. A loose-dirt hillclimb and water crossings were included in testing as well. Night driving was also integrated into the competition to gauge each vehicle’s lighting equipment. Judges included staff from various 4×4 media brands, including FOUR WHEELER, 4-WHEEL & OFF-ROAD, and JP MAGAZINE.

«The Ram 1500 TRX isn’t just a performance truck that absolutely owns the go-fast terrain, but it is also a capable crawler on the trail that offers impressive towing and payload numbers. The TRX easily shames sports cars on the pavement and the interior rivals anything the luxury class has to offer,» said Sean P. Holman, Content Director, Truck & Off-Road Group. «Surprisingly, the TRX is not a one-trick pony. It is one of the best all-around trucks we’ve ever tested, and the TRX just so happens to be able to carry insane speeds in the dirt with over 1,000 pounds in the bed with seemingly the same amount of effort as it takes to go down the highway on the way to work.»

«The Ram 1500 TRX is a breathtaking truck that flat out impresses,» said FOUR WHEELER Editor Ken Brubaker. «From its bad-boy muscular stance to its stunning pin-you-to-your-seat power to its incredible suspension that easily tames the worst terrain, the TRX is the total package.»

FOUR WHEELER’s «Pickup Truck of the Year» award event – now in its 32nd consecutive year – is an invitation-only competition that is only open to all-new or significantly revised pickup trucks for the upcoming model year.

2021 Ram 1500 TRX
The new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is the apex predator of the truck world and cements Ram Truck as North America’s off-road truck leader. Designed bolt by bolt to significantly outperform every other truck straight from the factory, the Ram 1500 TRX has been tested to handle the most punishing conditions with extreme durability. Class-leading, uncompromising performance in the harshest environments is achieved in part through the 702-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V-8 engine. Stratospheric power delivers a new level of performance: 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in 4.5 seconds, the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph and a top speed 118 mph. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has been rigorously tested to handle the most punishing conditions with extreme capability and durability on its way to being the quickest, fastest and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup truck in the world.

The Ram 1500 TRX builds on everything the award-winning Ram 1500 lineup delivers – including world-class luxurious interiors with premium materials and incredible attention to detail, segment-leading ride-quality and comfort, and a superior level of refinement and sophistication – and raises the no-compromise benchmark for power, performance, durability, technology and convenience with features never before offered in a pickup.

Class-leading ride and handling are accomplished via an all-new custom suspension composed of the highest possible quality components and tuning geared towards high-speed desert runs, producing even more capability on the street or in the desert. The Ram 1500 TRX boasts a ground clearance of 11.8 inches due in part to a 2-inch ride height increase when compared with the rest of the Ram 1500 lineup, along with aggressive 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory All-Terrain 325/65/R18 tires. This combination enables TRX to clear surface obstacles easily and at high speeds.

A luxurious and spacious interior offers authentic, premium materials, colors and textures, including hand-wrapped leather instrument panels for unexpected luxury throughout. As a segment disrupter, the standard Uconnect 4C with a massive 12-inch touchscreen leads the segment in technology, featuring split-screen capability, 360-degree camera views, and exclusive content from SiriusXM with 360L and Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is the first vehicle to include the new Know & Go mobile app featuring an immersive experience for customers who want to learn more about their vehicles. Active safety and security systems include adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning, Blind-spot Monitoring and Ready Alert Braking.

Ram Truck Brand
In 2009, the Ram Truck brand launched as a stand-alone division, focused on meeting the demands of truck buyers and delivering benchmark-quality vehicles. With a full lineup of trucks, the Ram 1500, 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab, ProMaster and ProMaster City, the Ram brand builds trucks that get the hard work done and families where they need to go.

Ram continues to outperform the competition and sets the benchmarks for:

  • Towing capacity of 37,100 lbs. with Ram 3500
  • Segment first 1,000 lb.-ft of torque with Cummins Turbo Diesel

  • Most capable full-size off-road pickup – Ram Power Wagon
  • Most awarded light-duty truck in America

2021 Is the Year of the Road Trip: Harvest Hosts Study Reveals Americans Are Ready to Travel, But Not by Plane

NEW YORK, Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Harvest Hosts, a membership program that allows self-contained RVers to access unique overnight stays, today announces the results of its survey of over 10,000 respondents, revealing promising plans of increased travel this year – except for the airlines. To feed their travel bugs, most Americans are planning to travel more this year than they did in 2019, even before the pandemic hit. What’s different now is that travelers’ values and priorities are shifting — now focusing on safety, cost-effectiveness and more accommodating travel options for the new normal — and because of this, RV travel has skyrocketed.

«After the rough year we had in 2020, people are itching to hit the road. For many, travel is a basic human necessity. What we’re seeing is that you don’t have to travel halfway around the world to scratch this itch,» said Joel Holland, CEO of Harvest Hosts. «The survey results may seem extreme, but it comes down to the fact that many still have reservations about air travel. The data shows that people will continue opting for the safety of road trips, leading to a boom in backyard exploration and growing interest in RVing.»

Below are key findings from the survey with a roadmap for what to expect in travel this year.

Almost All Americans Are Planning to Travel More This Year Than 2020 and 2019
While it’s unsurprising that most people (76%) are planning to travel more than they did in 2020, planned travel is also exceeding 2019 numbers.

  • Seventy-six percent of respondents said they plan to travel more than they did in 2020
  • Sixty percent of respondents said they plan travel more than they did in 2019 before the pandemic
  • Fewer than a quarter of respondents (24%) said they plan to travel a normal amount with no changes from 2019, and only 13% of Americans said they plan to travel some, but less than they did in 2019
  • Only two percent of respondents said they plan not to travel in 2021

Less Than a Quarter of Consumers Will Fly, and They Don’t Feel Good About Hotels Either
People don’t currently feel safe flying, opting instead for the safety of road travel. Consumers are not seeing hotels as appealing options either.

  • More than two-thirds of Americans (69%) do not feel safe getting on a plane
  • Fewer than 21% said they plan to travel on a plane in 2021
  • Fifty-six percent of total respondents said they do not feel safe staying at a hotel
  • Eighty-one percent of total respondents said they plan to not travel internationally in 2021

Increased Interest in Road and RV Travel
With people hesitant to fly, but so many itching to travel, this begs the question: How will they do it? They will use RVs, and can still visit places near and far. Currently, there are 11 million RV owners in the US, but many more – 46 million in total – are planning to RV this year alone, continuing the upward trend.

  • A vast majority of respondents (99%) said they feel safe traveling in an RV
  • Fifty-three percent are planning to only travel using RVs this year
  • Of people planning to travel by road, 61% plan to travel over 500 miles, and 34% plan to travel moderately far, within 100-500 miles

Increased road travel has provided more opportunity for Americans to visit states and areas they might not have otherwise.

  • The most popular states visited in RVs were California, Florida, Arizona, Texas, and Oregon
  • On the other hand, the least popular states to visit were Wyoming, South Carolina, South Dakota, Alaska, and Alabama

Helping Local Businesses
The impact on the travel industry during COVID-19 quickly became apparent. In turn, fallout from the decline in travel as a result of the pandemic was felt by local businesses who rely on travel and tourism for a majority of their revenue. As people travel in RVs, they are able to safely support these businesses without breaking the bank. In fact, through Harvest Hosts, nearly $25 million was spent at local businesses across the country in 2020, which helped keep them afloat.

  • When staying somewhere with their RV, nearly half of Americans (47%) spend on average two or three nights where they are spending money on food, wine, services,  and other items
  • Ninety-four percent of people typically spend less than $75 each night when traveling via RV, which is much less than a typical hotel stay, but can make a big difference for an independent farm or winery

More Accommodating Travel Means More Family Time, Pets Included
Hotels that are open to pets are few and far between, and with airlines, there have been changes made regarding emotional support animals, adding another layer of complexity that can be avoided with RV travel. When traveling with family, bringing kids can also add additional expenses, and these issues are virtually eliminated with RVs.

  • Fifty-seven percent of respondents said they would take their children on RV trips
  • Seventy-one percent of total respondents said they would take their pets RVing
  • Because RV travel is so customizable and easy, 85% of respondents said they would plan an RV trip with friends even during the pandemic if traveling in separate vehicles

Changes in Work / Life Balance
COVID-19 completely changed work for professionals around the world. Remote working became the «new normal» for many, and looks like it will continue to be so for a majority of 2021, which has also impacted travel.

  • Approximately one-third of respondents (31%) plan to travel more now that remote work is an option. For example, consumers can now opt to start a road trip mid-week, since they can work from anywhere – even the road.
  • Twenty-three percent of respondents reported they are fully remote for work; of that percentage, 62% reported they are considering RVing more, with the freedom remote work allows being one of the main factors.

COLUMBIA, Mo., Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI) has selected four resident composers to participate in the 2021 Mizzou International Composers Festival (MICF).

Presented by MNMI and the University of Missouri School of Music from Monday, July 26 through Saturday, July 31 in Columbia, the twelfth annual MICF (http://composersfestival.missouri.edu/) will feature world premieres of new works written by each of the selected composers. Listed with their current places of residence, they are:

* Ana Paola Santillán AlcocerMexico City, Mexico (https://www.anapaolasa.com/)
* Daniel FitzpatrickColumbia, MO
* Paul MortillaCoral Gables, FL
* Nina ShekharPrinceton, NJ (http://ninashekhar.com/)

These four composers will be featured in the 2021 MICF along with the eight composers who were chosen for the 2020 festival, but whose works could not be premiered when COVID-related restrictions forced the festival to be reconfigured as an online event.

Those composers are Yu Kuwabara (Tokyo, Japan), Pascal Le Boeuf (New York, NY), Shuying Li (Spokane, WA), Celka Ojakangas (Los Angeles, CA), DM R (Diana M. Rodriguez) (New York, NY), Niko Schroeder (Columbia, MO), Andrew Tholl (Los Angeles, CA), and Felipe Tovar-Henao (Bloomington, IN).

The premieres of the new works from all 12 composers will be presented during festival week in two concerts, six per concert, along with music by the distinguished guest composers. However, because the COVID pandemic makes future conditions difficult to predict, MNMI will have several contingent plans for the 2021 MICF if safety concerns, University policy, or state or local laws make it impossible to present the festival «in-person» on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Those plans may include (but are not limited to) an online-only festival, a limited in-person experience, or some combination of online and in-person activities, such as additional concerts featuring music from the guest composers and other contemporary creators, workshops, master classes, and other events.

The Festival’s distinguished guest composers for 2021 will be Chen Yi and David T. Little. Chen is a distinguished professor of composition at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A finalist for the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Music for her composition «Si Ji» («Four Seasons»), she was born and raised in Guangzhou, China and is known as a prolific composer who blends Chinese and Western traditions, transcending cultural and musical boundaries.

Little currently chairs the composition program at MannesThe New School in New York City. He previously served as Executive Director of MATA and on the board of directors at Chamber Music America, and from 2014–2017 was composer-in-residence with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group.

The acclaimed new music group Alarm Will Sound, conducted by artistic director Alan Pierson, once again will serve as resident ensemble, as they have since the MICF began in 2010.

During the festival, the resident composers will receive composition lessons from Chen and Little and, if conditions permit, take part in rehearsals with Alarm Will Sound. The composers also will give public presentation on their music, and after the premiere performance, will receive professional live recordings of their new works.

A complete schedule of events, times, dates and venues for the 2021 Mizzou International Composers Festival will be announced at a later date. For more information, please visit http://composersfestival.missouri.edu/.

The 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Being Commemorated

DENVER, Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Denver native, Michael Rieger, today announced a major photo etching exhibition and community event to honor the heroes of the response to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. It is called, Remember the Love. Work on the exhibition is underway and it is slated to open to the public in September 2021. It is being funded initially via a Kickstarter campaign.

Rieger was one of two official FEMA photographers who worked at Ground Zero in the early days of the response. His images were uploaded daily to media outlets throughout the world and remain part of everyone’s collective memory of that day and its aftermath.

«The way everyone pulled together in response to the 9/11 attacks is a model for this moment in America. We need to remember – and celebrate – that we can set aside our differences and do great things together,» Rieger said.

Local responders from communities all over the country played a pivotal role in search and rescue effort in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Rieger was there with them on the pile, documenting the men and women clawing through rubble looking for survivors.

He says firefighters, police, federal rescue teams, clergy, and volunteers were the obvious heroes during those challenging days, but he says it was the support, appreciation and love he felt from the people he passed on the street walking to and from Ground Zero each day that inspired the Remember the Love name for the upcoming exhibition.

«Today we are grappling with multiple crises, a global pandemic, a reckoning on race and social justice, and the aftermath of an election that has left the nation shaken,» Rieger said.

«This exhibition and the events planned around it will celebrate the heroes of 9/11 and celebrate our nation when it pulled together, cried together and healed together in the same way we need to again today.»

The 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City features Rieger’s work as a part of its permanent collection. His work is also part of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Rieger hopes to launch multiple exhibitions simultaneously in cities around the country where people from all walks of life can see them. He is focusing on the states that include federal Urban Search and Recues teams he worked with. This includes Colorado, New York, Washington State, Utah, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, California, Florida, and Washington DC.

Rieger’s work has been shown in galleries, festivals and museums throughout the United States. His photos have been published all over the world.

To schedule an interview with Michael Rieger, contact Jim Chesnutt at (303) 513-2389. Preview photos of the etchings in progress as well as historical images from the response to the 9/11 attacks are available to accompany this story.

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — New contactless solutions are giving property owners and managers of apartment buildings, condominiums, and residential communities more touchless technology choices to address routine administrative services. Parking is one area that is traditionally managed with in-person visits and paperwork. Reliant Parking offers 24/7 app-based parking permit management to digitize parking enforcement and management, centralize accurate vehicle and permit data, and process and send permits directly to residents.

«Property owners and managers may wish to limit the flow of people coming and going within small offices or reduce the need for face-to-face interaction and, like other industries, parking management can level-up with contactless sophistication,» said Kevin Wexler, founder and CEO of Reliant Parking. «We solve problems to effectively manage the basic operation of parking, which was built for a crisis like this. This is one of the easiest tasks to lift from a property manager’s full plate while simplifying ways to limit in-person interaction.»

To give customers enhanced service during the pandemic, Reliant Parking has made parking a focus of technology-enabled and virtual, contactless service. Using online management software, the company extends control of parking services to property managers, which has increased efficiency for managers and residents. Reliant’s software enables property owners and managers to:

  • Send new long-term permits directly to residents
  • Virtually administer guest permits
  • Monitor lot capacity and any attempts to «game the system»

Property managers and residents can view real time data on Reliant Parking’s app that is customized with the unique rules and regulations of each property. Reliant also offers a 24/7/365 Customer Service Call Center to address support needs. To learn more and book a free Parking Strategy Audit, visit ReliantParking.com.

PARK CITY, Utah, Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — More than 19 inches of new snow fell in Park City over the last five days, bringing the total base snow to 35 inches at YOTELPAD Park City and attracting more skiers for an outdoor recreational escape during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the heart of Utah’s snowfall, Park City Mountain, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the United States, added YOTELPAD Park City last month to Canyons Village with easy access to the Gondola and Orange Bubble ski lifts for skiing, snowboarding, shopping, dining and après ski.

«With recent snowstorms and more to come, bookings have increased at the new YOTELPAD Park City,» said Brandon Tyler, general manager of YOTELPAD Park City, Park City’s newest hotel at Canyons Village.

The first in the world of its kind, YOTELPAD Park City is a tech-forward hotel with self-service check-in stations, Grab+Go meals and drinks, a 24/7 gym with the latest Life Fitness & Peloton equipment, ski valet service, a fireside lounge and more.

«With 7,300 acres of an open mountain playground just outside our hotel, guests enjoy outdoor mountain activities, including downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, which are growing in popularity,» said Tyler. «Because outdoor sports allow for natural distancing from others, guests tell me this is their perfect escape in a pandemic.»

An Olympic legacy, Park City hosts two world-class ski resorts with 62 lifts, 400 runs and 9,526 skiable acres. With an authentic, historic silver mining town legacy, the resort town is home to an array of luxury experiences, including award-winning restaurants, high-end breweries, wineries and distilleries.

«YOTELPAD’s innovative designs include Italian furniture that transforms into multiple uses in the same room space, optimizing every inch of PADs, which can accommodate up to seven guests,» said Tyler, who opened the 144-PAD (YOTEL-speak for condos) hotel Dec. 17, 2020.

To add to the Park City vibe, YOTELPAD serves daily fresh food options from local farm-to-table food providers, including Savoury Kitchen’s breakfast burritos, oatmeal, soups, sandwiches and salads; Rebekah’s Kitchen’s turkey chili and minestrone stew; and Gold Creek Farms’ daily harvested cheeses.

For mountain resort expertise, YOTEL has partnered with Benchmark, a global hospitality leader, to spearhead day-to-day operations of YOTELPAD Park City.
