Nearly 75,000 Fleets Are Transforming Service Management With Decisiv SRM

GLEN ALLEN, Va., Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Decisiv, Inc., the industry leader in Service Relationship Management (SRM) solutions, announced today that nearly 75,000 fleets are using its SRM platform to more effectively and efficiently manage service and repair events.  In 2020, fleets used Decisiv SRM to manage more than 3.5 million service events across a network of more than 4,800 service locations.

«There continues to be steady growth in activity among fleets on the Decisiv SRM platform,» said Dick Hyatt, President and CEO of Decisiv.  «At the beginning of 2020, Decisiv SRM had been used to manage 15 million service events, and by the end of this year that number had exceeded 18 million.  On average, that’s over 67,000 service events weekly in the past 12 months.  Fleets that take advantage of the expanding capabilities of the platform are reducing administrative costs associated with maintenance and repairs, and gaining real-time visibility into and better control over service events so they can get trucks back on the road faster.»

Decisiv SRM accelerates fleet use of advanced service management technology by moving communication from phones and voice mail to a web portal.  Moving all relevant information to an electronic case provides transparency into the service event, enabling fleets to track progress and authorize repairs.  Once the service event is complete, Decisiv’s connected ecosystem enables service event data to flow directly into most Fleet Maintenance Systems.  Decisiv SRM reduces administrative time, helps control costs, and returns trucks back to service faster.

For a fleet with 500 trucks and four service events per year for each asset, Decisiv SRM eliminates up to 4,000 hours of management and administrative time, amounting to cost savings of as much as $100,000 annually.

Streamlining the service process adds to top line revenue.  According to a 2019 study by KEA Advisors, the dwell time for a service event was reduced by 3.36 days among service providers using the Decisiv SRM platform.  Assuming two major repair events each year per asset, a fleet with 500 trucks can recover over 3,300 days of asset utilization annually.

Based on estimated daily revenue of $800 per Class 6-8 truck, the improvement in uptime for a fleet of 500 trucks would exceed $2.6 million in recovered revenue.

Throughout 2020, Decisv has enhanced and added to the capabilities of the SRM platform for fleets with the expansion of asset type classifications that increase coverage for heavy-duty trucks, and add medium- and light-duty trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, and off-road equipment.  Expanded Point of Service capabilities allow for shared access to service information, and a new Telematics API solution facilitates the delivery of actionable vehicle, system, component and parts performance and diagnostic information.  Fleets can also access a wealth of information from connected SRM Ecosystem partners in the Decisiv Marketplace.

About Decisiv, Inc.
Decisiv provides a cloud-based Service Relationship Management (SRM) platform that revolutionizes how the service supply chain for commercial assets communicates and collaborates.  As the industry leader in SRM technology, Decisiv is driving unrivaled improvement in asset performance and utilization for manufacturers, service providers and asset owners in the commercial vehicle market.  The SRM platform’s service orchestration capability that harnesses, shares and analyzes connected asset data, and intelligently enables service management, is the key to driving asset uptime and availability.  Decisiv is the partner of choice for major commercial vehicle manufacturers, including Volvo, Mack, Hino, Isuzu, Peterbilt, Kenworth and Michelin, as well as their dealers and call centers, service networks and asset owners.  For more information, visit www.decisiv.com.

Light wood grains, touches of slate and teak, Swedish limestone and fragrant juniper appear throughout the public spaces and Spa. The Clinker-built design of the Viking Bar mirrors the construction style of the original Viking Longships. A Viking Heritage Center provides history and context from the Viking Age. SAN DIEGO, and DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Rhombus Energy Solutions is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Centrepolis Accelerator program of Lawrence Technological University as the «Best CleanTech Company in Michigan» for 2020. Rhombus competed with a number of Michigan companies for awards in five different categories and was chosen by public vote as the Best CleanTech Company. The award recognizes companies with the best clean energy, energy efficiency and sustainability technology or products.

«Vehicle electrification for commercial fleets has unique challenges that our team’s innovative engineering delivers solutions for,» said Rick Sander, CEO of Rhombus Energy Solutions. «It is that spirit that drives our product development – the opportunity to provide the marketplace with highly reliable, V2G capable high-power charging infrastructure for medium and heavy duty vehicles. Rhombus is honored to be recognized as the Best CleanTech Company in Michigan by the Centrepolis Accelerator Program at Lawrence Technological University

While medium and heavy duty (M/HD) vehicles are only a small part of the overall US vehicle fleet, they are the source of over 40% of the harmful pollutants emitted by the US transportation sector. M/HD vehicles also consume 38% of the energy used in the US transportation fleet. Since these vehicles are utilized for commercial purposes, the reliability and availability of an M/HD fleet’s charging infrastructure is critical. Rhombus is a leading product innovator in this space, as well as a market leader in reliability, maintainability, and availability for M/HD EV fleet chargers. The company’s high-power, bi-directional smart EV chargers are all vehicle to grid (V2G) ready, helping to ease the impact of peak load hours on the energy grid.

«Rhombus epitomizes the reason that these awards were created – to recognize companies whose products are changing our world for the better,» said Daniel Radomski, Director of the Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Technological University. «Rhombus high-power bi-directional electric vehicle chargers are helping to advance the electrification of medium and heavy-duty vehicles, reducing air pollution and increasing energy efficiency in the transportation sector. And what’s more exciting to us, they are developing and manufacturing these products right here in Michigan! We look forward to a continued partnership with Rhombus.»

Rhombus Energy Solutions bi-directional high-power AC-DC chargers represent the state-of-the-art in M/HD EV fleet charging infrastructure, with industry-leading features, availability, and maintainability. Rhombus’ chargers are designed specifically for the M/HD EV fleet operator use case and are V2G capable with certification to UL 1741-SA for bi-directional operation. The company has deployed hundreds of high-power, bi-directional, highly-reliable fast EV charging systems for M/HD fleet customers in very demanding operational environments. World’s largest RV rental company reveals performance stats from its best year on record, predictions for 2021 travel

World’s largest RV rental company reveals performance stats from its best year on record, predictions for 2021 travel

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Outdoorsy, the most-trusted and only global online RV rental and outdoor travel marketplace, today released its 2020 Travel Trend report, recapping stats from its record year. Despite experiencing a 90 percent cancellation rate early in the year due to the pandemic, Outdoorsy’s RV bookings surged in 2020, leading to the company’s best year on record, with a more than 4,500% increase in bookings throughout the course of the pandemic. To date, more than 3.1M rental days have been booked on the platform, from a community of nearly 900K owners and renters.

Outdoorsy’s RV bookings surged in 2020, with a 4,500% increase in bookings throughout the course of the pandemic.

With 200,000+ unique vehicles available to rent in 4,800+ cities across 14 countries, Outdoorsy was well poised as the preferred form of travel for consumers, offering a self-contained mode of transport that allowed travelers to safely hit the road amidst growing concerns around medical safety, while at the same time empowering RV owners to experience life-changing incomes.

«Roads really do have a way of connecting us all — and we’ve seen those connections, be that with family members or the natural world around us, become one of the top priorities for folks this year,» said Outdoorsy’s Co-Founder and CMO Jen Young. «Those connections that happen when you break away from the traditional modes of travel — the four walls of a hotel, the cramped armrests of a plane — are why we started Outdoorsy six years ago. This year has been a wild, rewarding ride of resilience, and our team eagerly anticipates the unprecedented growth our community and these connections are bound to see in the year ahead.»

2020, a year deemed by many as the year of the RV, marked Outdoorsy’s best year on record for bookings, revenue and new owner and renter sign ups. Beyond it being a strong performance year for the company, 2020 was also filled with milestones and key initiatives for the company including the addition of an Android renter app to its suite of iOS and Android apps for owners and renters. Outdoorsy also kicked off a Healthcare Heroes give back program, through which the company received 1,500+ nominations and awarded 140+ free RV vacations to healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic.

Outdoorsy also was the star attraction for celebrities looking to travel this year, with big names safely hitting the road in RVs in 2020, including: Zoey Deutch, who traveled up the Pacific Coast in a stylish campervan; Famed chef Curtis Stone and his family who celebrated Thanksgiving with a socially distanced RV trip; Lily Collins who got engaged while on her Outdoorsy campervan trip to the desert; Molly Sims who used Outdoorsy to set up a Halloween celebration at her home; Rosario Dawson and her quaranteam who traveled to Big Bear for a weekend away; and Rachel Brosnahan, Bella Thorne, Madelaine Pretsch, Camila Mendes, Sophia Boutella, LaLa Anthony, Ashley Greene, Colleen Ballinger, Lance Bass, Brandi Cyrus and Kelly Osbourne, among others.

With the release of its second annual travel trends report, Outdoorsy is showcasing major owner, renter and general travel industry takeaways from the company’s landmark year and predictions for the 2021 rental season.

2020 Outdoorsy Travel Trends

  • A new audience is getting outdoors. Nearly 90% of Outdoorsy renters in 2020 were first timers.
  • Spending more time on the road. The average trip length on Outdoorsy was 6.4 days, up from 6.0 days in 2019.
  • Summer reigns supreme. July remained the most popular month for trips this year, followed by August and September.
  • Western and southern states win out. California, Colorado and Texas were the most popular states for rentals, with Utah and Arizona following close behind.
  • Towable trailers remain popular. Towable trailers, one of the most cost effective vehicle types on the platform, were the most popular vehicle rented from Outdoorsy in 2020, accounting for 46% of bookings. Class C RVs, which are a smaller driveable vehicle that is great for families, were the next popular, accounting for 24% of bookings.
  • More people hit the road for Memorial Day. Memorial Day was the most popular holiday for RV rentals this year, beating out the 4th of July, which was the most popular holiday for RV travel in 2019.
  • RV rentals increased in value to match their growing popularity, but remain an affordable vacation option. The overall average nightly rate of an Outdoorsy rental in 2020 was $161, up from the $153 average in 2019, which directly correlates with the growing popularity of RV rental vacations.
  • RV rentals are the ultimate side hustle. The highest grossing owner with a single vehicle made nearly $42K this year – more than three times the average $13,000 a year that Americans made on their side hustles in 2019 (Bankrate).
  • Power users can bring in the big bucks. The highest grossing owner listing on the platform made nearly $142M this year.

Most popular US metro areas for rentals in 2020

  1. San Diego, California (Nearly double the bookings in 2020 versus 2019)
  2. Las Vegas, Nevada
  3. Phoenix, Arizona
  4. Denver, Colorado
  5. Austin, Texas
  6. Portland, Oregon
  7. Los Angeles, California
  8. Salt Lake City, Utah
  9. Mesa, Arizona
  10. Seattle, Washington

2021 RV rental predictions

  • RV and campervan rentals posed to become America’s next side hustle sweetheart. Due to an increase in RV sales and ownership, coupled with financial constraints and economic conditions, Americans will look to renting their vehicles as a steady source of secondary income. Outdoorsy owners can make up to $36,000 on average per year for each RV listed on the platform.
  • Vanlife is the ultimate uniter — and it sees no age. Life on the road is just as popular with the millennial generation as it is with the baby boomer generation. In 2020, Outdoorsy saw over 100% YoY bookings growth across all generations. Everyone is attracted to the approachability and low learning curve of the vanlife lifestyle.
  • More people are stepping outside of their comfort zone. Which means they’re getting out of the house and stepping outside. This year 90% of Outdoorsy renters were first-timers and the company expects this trend to continue. This new wave of travelers taking an interest in the outdoors will shape the future of Outdoorsy — and prioritize the protection of and access to the outdoors — for years to come. This new consumer mindset prioritizes trust, safety, cleanliness, and affordability.
  • Working-from-the-road RV use will surge. There will be more working on the road and RV use than ever before. This is certainly believable, considering that work can be found wherever you open your laptop. Access to WiFi will be crucial for travelers as they take their jobs anywhere there’s an internet connection. In Outdoorsy’s recent Renter Sentiment Survey, 75% of travelers said they feel the freedom of virtual work and learning make them more likely to take a road trip at «off peak» times.
  • Campgrounds will be booked earlier. Due to overall new demand for outdoor recreational travel and activities, Outdoorsy predicts national park campgrounds will be booked earlier in 2021. These prime spots typically book out up to 6 months in advance for national park campsites (around March and April), but the company is predicting the booking curve to move up to February this year.
  • Visitors to our state and national parks will skyrocket. With international travel still mostly off-limits, state and national parks will see more visitors and campers than ever before. It will be the outdoor travel industry’s shared responsibility to help protect these national treasures for years to come and help educate and promote sustainable travel and leave no trace practices.

GTT Provides Better Opticom Priority Control Accuracy with New Geo-Locating Chipset

ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Global Traffic Technologies (GTT) announced today that it has added the Global Navigation Satellites System (GNSS) to its Opticom™ solutions. This collection of satellites transmits positioning and timing data to GNSS receivers, which use this data to determine location.

Though they might not realize it, most Americans have used the Global Positioning System – i.e., GPS – before. In fact, many connected vehicle applications, including emergency vehicle preemption and transit signal priority, rely on GPS to determine the real-time location of vehicles. But while that single satellite system employs 31 satellites, GNSS utilizes 89 satellites from four different satellite navigation systems around the world, including GPS (America), Galileo (European Union) and either GLONASS (Russia) or China’s BeiDou (GTT is using GLONASS).

«It’s well-documented that urban canyons and multipath effects can negatively impact the accuracy and overall performance of GPS-based locating,» GTT VP of Product Development Ravi Shah said. «The advantage of adding GNSS is that it gives our customers access to multiple satellite networks, thereby reducing interference and increasing accuracy while providing reliable redundancy and availability.»

Adding GNSS will enable more consistent, reliable priority control in dense urban areas with obstructions such as bridges, tunnels and tall buildings. It will reduce the kind of performance issues that can diminish priority control’s effectiveness by helping ensure the correct intersection receives the request for a green light as priority vehicles approach intersections. Better location services will minimize disruptions to traffic, and help fire and emergency personnel, bus drivers and light rail train conductors navigate dense urban areas in safer and faster.

Even with access to more satellites, communication to these satellites can be lost temporarily in areas with tall buildings, tunnels or multi-level roads. To address this, GTT has also added the ability to more effectively determine vehicle position in these areas with software-based «dead reckoning.» If satellite communication is lost, dead reckoning can calculate a moving vehicle’s position by estimating its direction and distance traveled from its last known geo-location. GTT’s software-based dead reckoning solution functions with sensors built into the Opticom devices, with no additional vehicle wiring required.

«Opticom, like other connected-vehicle applications, relies on accurate vehicle position to deliver high performance solutions,» said Chad Mack, GTT’s director of product management. «Incorporating GNSS and software-based dead reckoning into our Opticom portfolio is a testament to GTT’s commitment to creating best-in-class solutions for our customers.»

About GTT

GTT provides a clear path to smarter and safer mobility for communities worldwide. GTT’s Opticom intelligent transportation solutions help to increase safety, minimize traffic congestion and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while maximizing resource efficiency and performance. Thousands of emergency, transit and traffic agencies have trusted the innovative, comprehensive Opticom traffic solutions for more than 50 years.
