NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla., Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Twice as Many First-Time Buyers Looked for Private Jets at End of 2020 vs. 2019; Advice on Aircraft for First-Time Private Jet Buyers

Driven by continuing concerns about Covid-19, the resulting cuts in commercial air service, and the possible end of Trump-era tax benefits favoring private jet ownership*, the number of businesses and wealthy individuals looking to buy a private jet for the first time doubled, compared to recent years, according to private jet broker The Private Jet Company (TPJC), providing sales, acquisition and consulting services to private jet buyers and sellers.

«The fourth quarter is when half of private jet transactions occur due to tax planning,» said Daniel Jennings, CEO of The Private Jet Company (TPJC). «With health concerns due to the continuing pandemic and the possible end of several tax incentives, we saw double the number of first-time buyers and 50% more repeat buyers in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the past several years.

«High-net-worth individuals with multiple homes continue to contact us because they’re no longer willing to fly in first class on commercial carriers due to Covid concerns and the deep cuts in the frequency of commercial service. They want to know ‘how can I make buying a jet work?», adds Jennings.

Advice to first-time private jet buyers
New jet deliveries cannot meet the current short-term demand for private jets since most manufacturers are sold out for the next three years.

Jennings’ advice for first-time buyers can be summed up as follows: buy a mid-sized aircraft that is most desirable for charters and can be easily bought and sold. Interestingly, most first-time buyers resell their jet aircraft within two or three years of purchase, usually in order to upgrade.

Best private jet aircraft for first-time buyers
One of the ways to offset the cost and upkeep of private jet ownership is placing it out for charter. A mid-sized plane, carrying six passengers, is the type of private jet that is most often chartered. Examples include the Cessna Citation Excel and XLS, Embraer Phenom 300, Learjet 60, Hawker 800 XP and 850 XP. Pre-owned aircraft in good condition range in price from $1 million to –$6 million.

These mid-sized aircraft are used for non-stop flights on the most popular domestic US routes: such as New York-to-Florida; Texas-to-Colorado; San Francisco-to-Los Angeles; San Francisco-to-Las Vegas; California-to-Colorado. They are not suitable for cross-country trips due to refueling stops.

«Mid-size private jets are a very liquid market,» notes Jennings. «They are easy to buy and sell — due to high demand for both purchase and charter of this type of aircraft,» said Jennings.

*Editor’s note: The 2017 tax cuts allow 100% depreciation in the first year of ownership for items such as new or pre-owned aircraft used for business. The 2020 CARES Act includes a five-year net operating loss carryback that permits tax payments going back to 2015 to be refunded due to a loss in the current year.

About The Private Jet Company (TPJC)
The Private Jet Company offers sales, acquisition, and consulting services for private aircraft in major markets throughout the world. Founded in 2005 with headquarters in North Palm Beach, FL and regional offices in Paris, France and Mexico City, Mexico, TPJC has completed over $2 billion of aviation transactions for individual and corporate owners. In addition to assisting clients buy and sell aircraft, the company works with aircraft management companies to reduce the burden of maintenance and supplement revenue through charters. TPJC also partners with aviation attorneys and tax experts to help clients maximize depreciation, reduce tax burdens and assist in import and export Certificates of Airworthiness.

As a specialist in affinity group travel, association group travel, and general group travel, Aventura World is seeing a boost in call volume with inquiries and bookings for travel in the fall of 2021. Further, Aventura World is experiencing an increase in the number of people registering for the company’s virtual webinars to learn about trips departing in the fall of 2021. Many of the brand’s recent webinars have even superseded pre-Covid-19 attendance records.

«We have heard from travelers and their travel planners alike that starting to make their next travel adventure helps promote a feeling of hope and positivity for the future. They are thrilled that the freedom of travel is coming back,» said Scott. Let’s face it…people are all a bit tired of staying home, many have learned their fill of new DIY skills like bread-baking and candle-making; and most have binge-watched just about everything on TV and via streaming channels. People want to get 2021 underway in an upbeat way – planning for amazing travels far beyond than their 2020 trips to the supermarket.»

The past 12-months has offered limited travel opportunities and created a pent-up demand that travelers are longing to fulfill. So where are travelers seeking to vacation? The interesting finding is that preferred destinations for travel this year greatly varied, based on current inquiries. Based on an analysis of travel requests received at Aventura World, people now more than ever are seeking fresh air, wide open spaces, and warm weather.

«We are thrilled to see inquiries for international destinations like Greece, Egypt, Iceland, and Turkey. As well, and in line with dozens of research findings, we are also enjoying and increase in demand for travel in the United States to outdoor places, like national parks, as well as to intriguing destinations, such as South Dakota and California’s wine country. These destinations are booking exceptionally well,» said Scott.

Aventura World prides itself on taking group travelers into the most popular destinations as well as off-the-beaten path places; to have meaningful exchanges with local people; to savor the culinary flavors of each region explored; to get to know each area’s customs and traditions; to live old world treasures, antiquities, and modern day musings at every turn; and to delve into the arts via experiences that become memories they will cherish for a lifetime.

WIESELBURG, Austria, Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The ZKW Group, a specialist for innovative premium lighting systems and electronics, which runs North American facilities in Troy, Michigan, and Silao, Mexico, is expanding its international network. In early May, the ZKW Group will be adding a new development office in Olomouc/Czech Republic and a sales and development office in Shanghai to its 10 existing international locations. The new branch in Olomouc will support the global engineering network, while handling further development tasks to add to existing capacities in Austria. Fifty new jobs will be created during the initial expansion, with the company’s goal to employ more than 100 specialists by 2023. The new sales and development office in Shanghai will support the existing ZKW location in Dalian. These expansion steps underscore the ZKW Group’s successful trajectory. Despite the pandemic and the difficult economic environment, the Group succeeded in generating revenues of 1.03 billion euros in 2020. «We were able to maintain production at our locations through a major organizational effort and by showing outstanding flexibility. We have the excellent teamwork and commitment of all of our employees to thank for our success. Now, we will continue to grow through our global development footprint,» says Oliver Schubert, CEO of the ZKW Group.

Workforce on-site
With its new development office in Olomouc, ZKW is pursuing its strategy of utilizing the local supply of labor and automotive expertise on-site. Olomouc is home to the Czech Republic’s second oldest university, and has its own light technology department as well. This ensures ZKW’s new employees will have a good technical background. In addition, the greater Olomouc region has a long tradition in developing and manufacturing automotive headlamps. «The region offers a highly qualified workforce, which we plan to use for our development of premium lighting systems. Currently, we are looking for experienced engineers from the automotive industry in the areas of light, design, electronics and software,» says Schubert.

Closer to clients
The new sales and development office in Shanghai will support the existing ZKW location in Dalian. «This is a strategic decision to be closer to our clients, such as SGM and Volvo,» Schubert says. In addition to sales and development tasks, colleagues in the new, 200 m2 (2,152 ft2) office will also support the Group’s purchasing activities. Five employees will be hired initially in April of 2021. Later, the plan is to grow the workforce to a total of 15 specialists by 2022.

Successful fiscal year despite the coronavirus pandemic
Despite the pandemic and difficult global economic situation, the ZKW Group remains well-positioned to face future challenges. The company’s special coronavirus taskforce is coordinating supply chain maintenance within the Group. In late 2020, the company received 150 million euros in financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB). ZKW will use the funds to expand its innovation activities, which are key to the Group’s success. In addition, ZKW plans to invest in sustainable manufacturing and green development – for instance by investing in energy-efficient systems in the Slovakian plant in Krušovce. «Our order books are certainly looking very strong for the next three years. ZKW expects to set a new revenue record in 2022. We are proud to have the highest order volume in the company’s history and feel positively about the future. We are certain that we will be able to manage challenges such as digitization, competitive pressure and sustainability alongside our employees,» says Schubert, looking ahead.

Novelis Debuts New Aluminum Solution Category for Automakers

ATLANTA, Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Novelis Inc., the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today unveiled its strongest automotive aluminum product to date, Novelis AdvanzTM 7UHS-s701. ATLANTA, Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Novelis Inc., the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today unveiled its strongest automotive aluminum product to date, Novelis AdvanzTM 7UHS-s701. The technologically advanced, ultra-high-strength material is now available commercially to the global automotive industry.

The product offers lightweighting potential of up to 40% over existing ultra-high strength, hot-formed steel solutions. It is designed for safety-critical structural applications in passenger vehicles that require high in-service strengths such as A and B pillar reinforcements and side impact door beams. Commercial vehicles and electric vehicles will also benefit from using this material, as it offers mass reduction to enable increased payload and longer battery range, while still meeting all crash, loading and overall design requirements.

«The s701 technology represents the future of high-strength material in automotive applications and offers a clear alternative to the most advanced high-strength steel products,» said Philippe Meyer, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Novelis Inc. «Aluminum is already the material of choice for lightweighting, and now we are offering a solution that helps automakers design even safer, lighter and better performing vehicles.»

Novelis will leverage its knowledge and expertise in the aerospace industry to manufacture s701. To enable rapid adoption of this unique technology, Novelis’ Customer Solution Center (CSC) network has expertise to engage with automotive engineers on how to best incorporate this material on new development projects. The CSC teams have invested considerable time and resources to demonstrate the material’s capabilities, as well as the value it delivers while addressing any potential implementation questions from OEMs.

Advanz™ 7UHS-s701 allows down gauging in applications already using aluminum and offers further lightweighting possibilities. The material’s targeted use in age-hardened tempers means it does not age, giving it an indefinite shelf life and providing automakers significant supply chain flexibility.

Critically important to automotive designers and engineers, the alloy is compatible with hot stamping processes. In fact, Novelis is actively working with hot stampers and technology partners, such as TELOS Global, to further facilitate rapid aluminum adoption. TELOS Global specializes in conception, design, training and manufacturing associated with high-quality press hardened steel and aluminum stampings, tooling, and related thermal and production equipment.

«We have been co-developing targeted hot formed application solutions using Advanz™ 7UHS-s701 for some time now, delivering greater economic value through increased levels of mass reduction while meeting critical safety requirements,» said Rick Teague, CEO, TELOS Global. «Launching this product into the market will now give automakers even more flexibility to engineer highly efficient, multi-material structures.»

The Advanz™ 7UHS-s701 material allows scrap collected from the manufacturing process to be fed into a closed loop recycling system for reforming into the same products from which it was derived. As a result, Novelis and its customers maximize product value while minimizing environmental impact through reduced CO2 emissions and transportation costs.

About Novelis
Novelis Inc. is driven by its purpose to shape a sustainable world together. As a global leader in innovative products and services and the world’s largest recycler of aluminum, we partner with customers in the aerospace, automotive, beverage can and specialties industries to deliver solutions that maximize the benefits of lightweight aluminum throughout North America, Europe, Asia and South America. This year has provided a series of ups and downs for our team, in what was already considered a rebuilding year… but the positive, winning culture of our program, combined with their work ethic, determination and their never give up attitude has allowed our team to far exceed all expectations. This group is the best example of what being a great teammate is all about! They are so fun to coach and they love each other so well! We are extremely proud of them and all of their accomplishments and we are excited about the possibilities of postseason play.»

In summer 2021, Coach LeGate and Coach Maddux will return to host the ever-popular Nike Basketball Camps at Christ Presbyterian Academy. They will be hosting complete skills camps and Coach Maddux will also be adding two new sessions that focus specifically on shooting. Over the course of the week, campers will work on fundamentals, offensive and defensive skills, shooting technique, and footwork in a fun and positive environment.

Players, Coaches, and Parents interested in these or other camps can visit Nike Basketball Camps or call 1-800-645-3226.

REYKJAVÍK, Iceland and MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Isavia ANS, Iceland’s Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), announced today that it has successfully implemented Aireon’s space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) system in their 5.4 million square kilometers of controlled airspace, making it one of the largest deployments to-date.

Aireon - MAKING GLOBAL AIR TRAFFIC SURVEILLANCE A POWERFUL REALITY (PRNewsFoto/Aireon LLC)

Isavia ANS provides air navigation services that span the North Pole to Scotland, and from the Greenwich Meridian in the east to west of Greenland. Aireon’s system extends Isavia’s current ground-based air traffic surveillance framework, focusing on enhancing real-time air traffic surveillance in the corridor connecting Europe and North America to all customers. Isavia’s initial use of Aireon’s space-based system is in all airspace south of 70 degrees north, providing coverage to those sectors. Aireon’s system is not only extending Air Traffic Service (ATS) surveillance in oceanic airspace, but it also represents an ideal solution for a region where weather disruptions can create issues and ground sensor maintenance is a challenge.

«With the operational deployment of Aireon’s air traffic surveillance system, the coverage of Isavia ANS’s vast control area was fortified immediately, enabling both increased efficiency and safety of our service,» said Guðmundur J. Kristjánsson, Project Manager, Isavia ANS. He added, «Aireon’s implementation team worked around the clock with our operational staff, during a global pandemic, to complete the system acceptance phase and usher in our next generation of real-time air traffic capabilities.»

«Isavia ANS controls one of the most strategic airspaces in the world, overseeing 30 million passengers to date. The collaboration and dedication of the teams to deploy the system has been incredible,» said Michele Carandente, Director of EMEA, Aireon. «Isavia ANS has shown extraordinary leadership in moving the system into the operational phase.»

Aireon’s data, from a functional perspective, has been integrated into Isavia ANS’s Display System (ISDS), Flight Data Processing System (FDPS) and the ATM Surveillance Tracker and Server (ARTAS), a widely used Surveillance Data Processing System in Europe.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y., Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The Shinnecock Indian Nation today announced plans for the casino it intends to build on its territory on the Eastern end of Long Island, which will be called Shinnecock Casino Hamptons.

The Shinnecock Council of Trustees shared a schedule for building the Class II Gaming facility, as well as an overview of the amenities the facility will offer.

«As we have seen with members of Tribal Nations, casinos provide an opportunity to lift our members from adversity,» said the Shinnecock Council of Trustees.  «Our ancestral lands were taken from us many years ago and New York State has refused to meet with us regarding stolen land claims that were filed over many decades. We have tried to resolve these issues over the last decade by proposing to find more suitable locations on Long Island, but were rebuffed. We have waited long enough and have decided to proceed here on our Territory.»

The Shinnecock Nation received approval last summer from the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) to operate a Class II casino on its Reservation in Southampton.

The Trustees confirmed the Shinnecock association with Tri State Partners to assist with construction and operation of the casino.

«Over the past several years we have witnessed the suffering of the Shinnecock Nation and also seen the opportunity to lift their people from the poverty they currently live in,» said Tri State Partner and Managing Member Jack Morris.  «This will be a property Long Island residents will enjoy visiting, while enabling the Shinnecock Nation to take advantage of opportunities other members of Native American nations have harnessed.»

The Trustees indicated that the construction process will begin in the summer of 2021.

«Our research, which is ongoing, indicates the Casino will be a boost for tourism here on the Eastern end of Long Island,» the Trustees said.  «And while the summer months will be the busiest months of the year for us, working with Tri State we will attract visitors during the rest of the year as well.»

The facility will be a Class II gaming facility and be operated by the Shinnecock Nation.  Games will include a variety of casino games, as well as Class II video terminals.

The Shinnecock Nation and Tri State are in discussions with restaurant providers to provide a range of food options for guests.  Tri State is also exploring appropriate right-sized venues within the casino for entertainment.

«We are starting with the casino, but we are also looking at multiple options for additional land acquisitions off Territory, potentially including developing waterfront properties and hotels, which the Eastern end of Long Island is lacking,» said Morris.

«It is our intention that this is the first of a number of casinos we hope to build in New York,» said the Trustees.  «At a time when we see our country recognizing the rights of all of its citizens, we hope this extends to some of New York’s first inhabitants, the members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation.»

About the Shinnecock Indian Nation:  The Shinnecock Indian Nation is a federally recognized tribe of historically Algonquian-speaking Native Americans based at the eastern end of Long Island, New York.  This tribe is headquartered in Suffolk County, on the southeastern shore.
