MUMBAI, India, Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — EaseMyTrip, India’s leading travel, and ticketing portal saw a 40% uptick in its push notification delivery, resulting in heightened engagement with its customer base. The boost came in with the strategic implementation of Netcore’s breakthrough notification delivery technology – Smart Push.

Netcore Solutions Logo

Smart Push is a pioneered technology by Netcore in push notification delivery that negates the unreliability of the Google FCM and ensures better delivery on the wide spectrum of mobile device brands. This makes Smart Push a cut above the other push amplification solutions on offer, by design.

EaseMyTrip was navigating multiple challenges at the user engagement level. Low DAUs resulted in lower engagement and high uninstalls. Due to OS-level optimizations on multiple mobile device brands, the reachability is highly truncated. Any effective engagement strategy was marred by the low reachability of the message due to low push notification delivery rates.

Netcore’s customer success team chalked out a high impact engagement strategy with the team at EaseMyTrip to combat this limitation. Through the Smart Push feature, the teams were able to boost the delivery rate of these push notifications by 40% in less than 90 days.

While the delivery uplift solved for the reducing DAUs in the short term, it also positively impacted the push notification sender reputation, hence impacting the long term enhanced delivery of push notifications for the brand.

Vikash Goyal, Head – Digital Marketing, EaseMyTrip added, «Increasing app push notification delivery rates is one of the biggest challenge faced by mobile marketers today. At EaseMyTrip, our focus has always been to discover & implement innovative technology to strengthen our overall mobile app experience.» He further commented on the value of Smart Push, «With Netcore’s Smart Push Technology, we’ve been able to achieve a delivery rate uplift of more than 40% for our app push notifications – boosting user activation/reactivation. The expert consultancy and constant support extended by their Customer Success team has been pivotal in achieving this success.»

«Every touchpoint is pivotal for engagement resulting in enhanced retention. You lose a touchpoint, you lose an opportunity to engage your customer. It’s simple.» said Kalpit Jain, Group CEO, Netcore Solutions. «Netcore has pushed the envelope forever to empower brands in delivering the best possible experience to their customer base. Smart Push is now a critical component of the customer engagement and experience arsenal of the brands such as Shemaroo, TVS Credit, Ease My Trip among others and we are happy and proud of the impact it has achieved for them,» added Kalpit.

Scenic America Celebrates Announcement of New All-American Roads & National Scenic Byways

WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Scenic America celebrates the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)’s announcement today of 34 National Scenic Byways and 15 All-American Roads, the first additions to the program since 2009. WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Scenic America celebrates the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)’s announcement today of 34 National Scenic Byways and 15 All-American Roads, the first additions to the program since 2009. The new designees– ranging from Maine’s Katahdin Woods and Waters Scenic Byway to California’s Historic Route 66 Needles to Barstow Scenic Byway– traverse 28 states, bringing the total of America’s Byways® to 184 in 48 states.

Established in 1991, the National Scenic Byways Program recognizes roadways with notable scenic, historic, cultural, natural, recreational, and archaeological qualities. Scenic America, a national environmental nonprofit that preserves and enhances the visual character and scenic beauty of America, led the charge to revitalize and restore funding for the program.

«The National Scenic Byways Program brings new jobs, tourism, and other benefits to communities along these scenic roads, which are often located in parts of the country where such resources are desperately needed and harder to come by. We are grateful to Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), and the nine Members who led the way to pass Public Law No. 116-57, The Reviving America’s Scenic Byways Act, making today’s announcement possible,» said Scenic America President Mark Falzone. «We are excited to partner with the new designees as they tap into the program’s benefits, and we look forward to helping other byways across the country in applying for future byways designations.»

Recognizing the potential impact of the National Scenic Byways Program on America’s travel and tourism industry and on its own scenic conservation mission, Scenic America took the lead to work with Congress to open a new nominations process and establish funding for the program. Through the leadership of Sen. Collins and Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), Congress included $16 million in funding for the program in the 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act enacted on December 29, 2020—its first dedicated funding since 2012.

The program’s revitalization comes at a critical time for the travel and tourism sector as it contends with the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on communities that rely on a robust hospitality industry. In 2019 alone, travel and tourism generated $2.9 trillion in economic impact according to the U.S. Travel Association. Scenic byways contribute strongly to those figures. For example, the Blue Ridge Parkway generated $1.4 billion in economic output and supported 16,300 jobs in North Carolina and Virginia in 2019, according to the National Park Service. During the same year, the Natchez Trace Scenic Parkway brought $13.1 million in economic output to Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, supporting 161 jobs. As Americans look for safe ways to return to travel, road trips and visits to parks and natural places are expected to have widespread appeal.

The list of today’s designees can be viewed here: https://www.scenic.org/blog/scenic-america-celebrates-announcement-of-new-scenic-byways-designations/.

Scenic America will continue to advocate for the National Scenic Byways Program’s long-term funding, as well as for it to be included in the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill that Congress will take up this session.

The National Scenic Byways Program is administered by the Federal Highway Administration. Details about today’s announcement and additional resources for awardees and future applicants can be found on the FHWA website. AICHI, Japan, Feb. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — On February 9, 2021, The Agency for Cultural Affairs opened a new art exhibit at Chubu Centrair International Airport as part of their «CULTRE GATE to JAPAN» initiative, beginning with the works of videographer SHIGETA Yusuke. On February 26, the works of a second contributor, creative group EUPHRATES, will be added to the exhibit. These two artists’ works will be exhibited at the airport as well as on the web, with the aim of promoting the appeals of Japanese culture and sharing it with the world.

‘Sekigahara-Sansui-zu-Byobu (Folding Screen of Painted Sekigahara Landscapes)’ by SHIGETA Yusuke

〈Chubu Centrair International Airport Event Overview〉
The theme of the exhibit at Chubu Centrair International Airport is «MOTION». Two groups of artists will display works inspired by the movement of Japan’s ancient samurai and ninja warriors.

Centrair serves the Chubu region of Japan, at the heart of which is Aichi Prefecture. During Japan’s tumultuous «Warring States» period between the late fifteenth and late sixteenth centuries, the area was home to some of the most famous samurai who ever lived—people like ODA Nobunaga, TOYOTOMI Hideyoshi, and TOKUGAWA Ieyasu. The region has many old castles and battlefields, including the site of the 1600 Battle of Sekigahara, considered one of the most decisive battles in Japanese history.

The underground mercenaries of this tumultuous era were the ninja, who are often linked to the cities of Iga in Mie Prefecture and Koka in Shiga Prefecture. Both cities are near the Chubu area.

EUPHRATES, a creative group involved in the exhibit, creates innovative visual experiences based on their research of the methods underlying rules of expression, including shape and movement. Their installation focuses on the signs that ninja gave as they engaged in espionage activities.

SHIGETA Yusuke, another artist involved in the project, creates primitive animation pieces with rich storylines using pixel art. He has recreated a famous scene showing samurai engaged in battle in the style of traditional folding screens. Inspired by the dynamic motion of the samurai warriors, he now depicts this scene through animation.

〈Naha Airport Event Outline〉

Located in Japan’s subtropical resort area of Okinawa, the theme of the exhibition at Naha Airport is «MEMORY». Two artists have created stunning visual works that connect the memories of the island’s historic Ryukyu Kingdom, drenched in sunlight and color, with the modern world.

For the 450 years between 1429 and 1879, a country known as the Ryukyu Kingdom developed its highly unique culture through extensive interaction with China, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. Traces of this historical kingdom remain to this day, glimpsed through Okinawa’s historical sites, which reflect distinctive perspectives on nature, and richly colored handicrafts—Bingata dyed cloth being among the most recognizable ones.

One of the artists involved in the exhibit is HIGA Satoru, a visual artist from Okinawa who makes expert use of sophisticated programming techniques. HIGA has represented the history and spirit of the Ryukyu Kingdom on a digital platform with a 3D model of Shuri Castle (Shurijo), an icon of Ryukyu history that was largely destroyed by fire in 2019.

The other artist, nuQ, is an animator known for her pop-art colors and retro aesthetic. She has created a mural that brings together the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom with Okinawa’s modern role as a tourist destination.

<About CULTURE GATE to JAPAN>
Beginning in February of 2021, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan will launch an innovative cultural promotion project called «CULTURE GATE to JAPAN«. Held at seven airports across Japan as well as the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, artists and creators active in the field of Media Arts will exhibit artworks inspired by the unique culture of each area with the goal of communicating the broader appeal of Japanese culture.

The global effects of the novel coronavirus have made it difficult to meet new people and experience new cultures in person.  However, that should not interrupt the exchange of art, ideas, and culture. Through this project, we hope to continue providing people around the world with the same sense of wonder and joy felt when encountering a new culture.

Tesla’s Innovative Power Electronics: The Silicon Carbide Inverter, Explores IDTechEx

BOSTON, Feb. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Like the Beatles in the 60s, Tesla has arguably achieved the feat of being simultaneously the best and most popular at what they do. As the IDTechEx report «Electric Vehicles: Land, Sea & Air 2021–2041» discusses, Tesla enters a new market and quickly becomes the top-selling electric vehicle maker: from its home market of California in the US to the major auto markets of Europe, to South Korea and China, in a conquest that has made CEO Elon Musk the richest man in the universe.

What’s different about a Tesla? The ‘big three’ enabling technologies commonly cited for electric vehicles are the battery, electric traction motor, and power electronics. Tesla is on the bleeding edge of all; so, while its stock price is perhaps ‘too high IMO’, its sheer pace of innovation is what earns it a seat at the leader’s table and its many votes from consumers. In this article, IDTechEx explores Tesla’s innovations in the field of power electronics and some of the new materials opportunities being created.

Silicon Carbide Inverters

For electric vehicles, power electronics are critical for several functions, but perhaps most critical of all is the main inverter, which converts the DC battery into three-phase AC for the smooth operation of the electric traction motor. At the core of power electronics devices is power-switch technologies (transistors), which have already seen more than five generations of advancement. Today, silicon insulated-gate bipolar transistors (Si IGBTs) dominate the medium power range, including electric vehicle inverters. We are now transitioning to a sixth-generation, with wide-bandgap semiconductor materials taking over: silicon carbide (SiC) for high voltage/power applications and gallium nitride (GaN) for lower-voltage and power. This shift allows smaller and higher-density power modules, operating at higher temperatures, and creates new materials opportunities throughout the power module packaging.

Schematic of an EV powertrain. Source: IDTechEx

Why is Tesla’s inverter innovative? Well, with the release of the Model 3 in 2018, Tesla became the first company to add SiC metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs), sourced from ST Microelectronics, in an in-house inverter design. The overall design has several innovations beyond the use of SiC packages, but this is the main one. It has led to the overall weight of the inverter (4.8kg) to be under half that of the 2019 Nissan Leaf (11.15kg) and over a third less than that of the Jaguar I-PACE (8.23kg), which use Si IGBT inverters and off-the-shelf parts.

The use of SiC MOSFETs further creates new materials opportunities as the limits of traditional materials are stretched. To deal with the greater areal power densities, a Cu lead frame (metal structures that carry signals from the die to the rest of the inverter) is used over more conventional Al wire bonds. The die-attach material has also transitioned away from conventional solders towards Ag sintered die-attach materials to handle the higher temperatures.

What’s the catch? As with any emerging technology, the cost has been the main barrier for uptake of SiC MOSFETs and other enabling materials in the power module packages. But Tesla seems to have solved this too: its inverter has undergone a remarkable cost decline in only three years. The chart below shows an experience curve, calculated by IDTechEx, based on cost estimates for the Model 3 inverter in 2018 and a second-gen of the same inverter from the Model Y in 2020. As can be seen, Tesla’s SiC inverter already looks to be on par with Si IGBT modules used in the 2019 versions of the Nissan Leaf and the Jaguar I-PACE.

The result is Tesla’s overall inverter and permanent magnet motor combination is one of (if not the) best on the market, achieving a 97% efficiency, yielding more range without increasing expensive battery capacity. All at a similar cost to the older technologies being displaced.
