XUZHOU, China, Dec. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The E-series rotary drilling rigs designed and manufactured by XCMG (000425.SZ) performed exceptionally well in multiple high-profile construction projects with topographical and geological complexities, including the integrated transportation hub in Beijing’s sub-center station, which will be the largest of its kind in Asia upon completion and serve as a rendezvous point of the city’s well-connected urban transit network.

The project will utilize the underground space of three levels and take full advantage of a mezzanine level, a groundbreaking urban transportation hub construction in terms of scale, density and coupling.

The sand bed layer of the construction site demands the rotary drilling rigs to be extremely precise in perpendicularity and overall performance, and XCMG E-series rotary drilling rigs were chosen to complete the construction of 229 piles for top-level quality, efficiency, stability as well as environmental sustainability. The project is now at the pile guard installation phase which measure 600-milimeters in diameter at a depth of 30 meters (98.43 feet).

«The XCMG technical service support team has devised a specific construction plan to ensure fast drilling and exact perpendicularity,» said Wang Min, Chairman of XCMG. «The E-series products have been able to keep the perpendicularity at 0.2 percent since its release, while improving working efficiency, intelligence, environmental standards and man-machine environment.»

In the meantime, four XR680HD rotary drilling rigs are working in the construction of Changtai cross-river bridge, the world’s first bridge to integrate an expressway, intercity railway and first-class highway. Its 1176-meter-long (0.73-mile) cable-stayed bridge will set a new world record for length, while the two arch bridges connecting Tianxingzhou and Lu’anzhou will be the world’s longest steel-made arch bridges, combining both railway and highway.

The main bridge structure includes 388 bored piles, each with a length of over 100 meters and will go through different geological layers to form the lifeline of the bridge, and the XR680HD model has guaranteed the construction process of the world-class bridge with a highly efficient and stable performance.

XCMG E-series rotary drilling rigs also took part in the construction of China’s first smart high-speed highway that connects Hangzhou, Shaoxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang Province. The 174-kilometer (108.12 miles) super highway project chose XCMG XR450E rotary drilling rig to complete the piling foundation, with piles of 2.8-meter in diameter at a depth of 102 meters (334.65 feet), XR450E has power head cruise control, pressure stepless adjustment, automatic dumping, automatic oil dispersal blowback and 12-inch touchscreen among other features that reaches the level of intelligent control in automobiles.

IT CONSISTS OF 10 DIFFERENT ISLANDS

Öckerö region, where MD9 electriCITY buses of TEMSA will be operated, is situated near Göteburg, one of the largest cities in Sweden.

The government of Sweden, as one of the few countries that have fought against carbon emission, has in recent years passed the law to be carbon neutral by 2045. Within this context, public transportation via electric vehicles is one of the most important endeavour in the country.

IT WILL ZERO ITS CARBON EMISSION BY 2030

Öckerö Municipality has taken the Swedish Government’s target a step further. The municipality aims to become a green centre with zero carbon emission by 2030. The local municipality has already started an initiative replacing all vehicles intended for public transportation with electric vehicles. 

Being part of that program, MD 9 electriCITY, offers a capacity of 59 passengers; designed, developed and manufactured by TEMSA. It provides the opportunity of quick passenger drop-off and pick-up with its two-door structure. It has a 400 km range provided by a 230 kWh Li-ion battery that has charge time of 5 hours.

STOCKHOLM, Dec. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Elkem has completed and opened a new production workshop in Shanghai, China, dedicated to the development and manufacturing of specialised silicones for hybrid and electric vehicles. This move further strengthens Elkem’s position as the largest silicones producer in China.

China is the world’s largest single market for the production and sales of electric vehicles (EV). The global demand for EV’s is growing fast, and some analysts now expect EV’s to account for around a third of new car sales by 2030.

Increased sales of hybrids and EV’s represent a substantial growth opportunity for Elkem, particularly within silicones. An EV contains on average four times more silicones than a traditional car. Silicones contribute to safer, more reliable and more comfortable cars, as a key component in airbags, cables, hoses and tires, and Elkem is already a supplier to several of the world’s top EV producers.

A key challenge for EV automakers is to ensure that electrical and electronic parts in are efficient, reliable and safe. SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform. Revealed online today during an ‘E-GMP Digital Discovery’ event, the platform will serve as the core technology for Hyundai Motor Group’s next-generation BEV line-up.

Designed exclusively for BEVs, E-GMP provides various advantages compared to the Group’s existing platforms, which have each been engineered predominantly to accommodate internal combustion engines. Benefits include increased development flexibility, powerful driving performance, increased driving range, strengthened safety features, and more interior space for occupants and luggage.

E-GMP reduces complexity through modularization and standardization, allowing rapid and flexible development of products. This can satisfy various customer needs for vehicle performance. Among these, a high performance model will accelerate from zero to 100kph in less than 3.5 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 260km/h.

The E-GMP’s compact new power electric (PE) system consists of a powerful motor, EV transmission and inverter. These three components are integrated into a single compact module. This ensures powerful performance by raising the motor’s maximum speed by up to 70 percent compared to existing motors.

E-GMP relies on the rear wheel for propulsion. Customers will be able to choose between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations; models with the latter can be equipped with an additional motor. The all-wheel drive system includes an EV transmission disconnector, which can control the connection between the additional motor and front wheels, and switch between two-wheel and all-wheel drive modes to enhance efficiency.

All vehicles developed with the E-GMP platform use a standardized single type of battery module. This module is composed of pouch-type standard cells and can be packed in different quantities as required for each vehicle.

Unlike previous BEVs, which only accept one-way charging, the E-GMP’s charging system is more flexible. The E-GMP’s newly developed Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) enables a new vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which can additionally discharge energy from the vehicle battery without additional components.

The E-GMP will underpin Hyundai Motor Group’s plans to introduce a total of 23 BEV models including 11 dedicated BEV models, and sell more than 1 million BEVs worldwide by 2025. As part of its BEV vision, Hyundai Motor Company launched its dedicated ‘IONIQ’ BEV brand in August 2020, which includes three dedicated BEV models, the IONIQ 5,6 and 7 by 2024. Kia is also undergoing a transformation for the era of electrification, based on its ‘Plan S’ mid-to-long term strategy.

NARDO, Italy and TURIN, Italy, Dec. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Automobili Pininfarina has reached a landmark moment in the development of its new Battista, as the pure electric hyper GT completed its first high speed test programme at the Nardò Technical Centre in Italy.

The successful test marks the beginning of the next chapter in the development programme of the most powerful Italian sports car ever produced. This will see nine test and validation versions of the pure-electric Battista driven on public roads and in private test facilities to fine-tune, validate and homologate its bespoke chassis settings, advanced torque vectoring system and unique sound experience.

Test Driver and Vehicle Dynamics Manager Georgios Syropoulos concluded a series of dynamic tests at the world-famous proving ground, including sprints around the circular banking of the 12.6 km Nardò-ring and laps of the twisting 6.2 km handling track.

The Battista’s 120 kWh battery provides power to four electric motors – one at each wheel – for a combined power output of 1,900 hp and maximum torque of 2,300 Nm. Its advanced powertrain is able to intelligently distribute power between all four wheels for optimised traction in all conditions and allows customers to tailor the driving experience to suit their personal tastes using five unique driving modes (Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere).

The prototype Battista testing at the Nardò Technical Centre is not a stripped-out development mule.  Beneath its elegant carbon fibre skin, a fully finished interior complete with luxuriously executed detailing, gave engineers the opportunity to assess every element of the new hyper GT.

TAILORED DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Bespoke chassis settings will ensure the Battista hyper GT delivers a unique dynamic experience that can be tailored to suit every trip. This test phase has allowed Automobili Pininfarina’s engineers to develop and fine-tune a range of technologies to optimise the driving dynamics, including:

  • Brake tuning: Battista is the first electric hypercar to feature advanced racing-inspired Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brake technology. Work will focus on blending their operation with the high speed aerobrake and energy recuperation system, for optimum performance and driver confidence.
  • Torque Vectoring: Four-motor torque vectoring will be uniquely tuned to suit the bespoke hyper GT characteristics of the Battista, delivering incredible traction and driver confidence in all conditions. Energy-neutral torque vectoring will be optimised to recuperate and shift electrical energy seamlessly for enhanced range and efficiency.
  • Tailored chassis settings: After around 1,000 of hours of virtual dynamic testing; double-wishbone suspension components, forged aluminium wheels, torsion bars and elastokinematics will be evaluated and fine-tuned, taking maximum advantage of the Battista’s ultra-stiff carbon fibre monocoque to perfect the driving experience.
  • Drive mode validation: Advanced torque vectoring gives Automobili Pininfarina the ability to create more distinct characteristics between each driving mode than in a conventional ICE vehicle. Final software tuning and validation for each of Battista’s five drive modes will take place on road and track.
  • Tyre validation: Customers will have a choice of 20-inch forged aluminium front and rear ‘Prezioso’ wheels and 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminium ‘Impulso’ wheels, with a saving of 8.9 kilograms in unsprung mass across all wheels, with corresponding high performance tyres: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R or Pirelli P Zero. Engineers will optimise the chassis settings to suit each application during the dynamic test phase.
  • High speed aerodynamics: Following simulation and wind tunnel testing, the unique exterior design and active aerodynamics of the Battista will be fine tuned during track testing to ensure the sculpted bodyworks delivers the refinement, aerodynamic stability and performance expected from a luxurious hyper GT.
  • Sound Experience: Battista will deliver a unique driving experience in every sense and dynamic development will enable technicians to evolve in-car and external soundscape to suit the hyper GT’s DNA in all driving environments.

When the first vehicles are delivered to clients in 2021, Battista will accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62mph) in sub two-seconds – faster than a current Formula 1 car. It will also sprint from 0-300 km/h (0-186mph) in less than 12 seconds and have a top speed of 350 km/h (217mph).

CONNECTED LUXURY

The luxurious hyper GT will combine blistering performance with seamless global roaming thanks to a partnership with integrated communications leader, Deutsche Telekom. The agreement ensures Battista customers will enjoy online connectivity worldwide without interruption or incurring additional charges.

This advanced connectivity supports Over-The-Air technology, which is capable of remotely updating software for 26 individual control modules on the Battista, encompassing everything from the pure-electric powertrain to the infotainment. Smart Diagnostics technology will also monitor the hyper GT to spot potential issues before they arise, bringing 21st century connectivity to the sector for the first time.

The suite of customer-friendly digital services offered with every Battista also includes complimentary charging in partnership with ChargePoint and the availability of a Pininfarina SpA-designed wallbox in the same colour as the hypercar.

The Automobili Pininfarina Battista is named after Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the founder of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company, which he established in 1930. The pure electric hyper GT is the realisation of Battista’s dream to see a car produced wearing the Pininfarina name and the first vehicles will be delivered to customers in 2021.
