With the reduction of air service in Alaska earlier this year, the E175 jet gives Alaska Airlines the flexibility to increase daily frequency between Anchorage and Fairbanks, and to provide year-round service to King Salmon and Dillingham.

La tecnología, clave para la continuidad en universidades latinoamericanas

RESTON, Virginia, 19 de octubre de 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Alrededor de 23 millones de estudiantes y 1.4 millones de docentes de educación superior en Latinoamérica debieron transitar a una educación virtual en 2020, según UNESCO-IESALC.

Dependiendo su nivel preexistente de digitalización, cultura de innovación y estrategias de inversión tecnológica, enfrentaron el desafío con mayor o menor complejidad. No obstante, algunas universidades de la región dieron muestras de gran agilidad.

Tal es el caso, en República Dominicana, de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), primada de América. Gracias a su plataforma tecnológica de vanguardia, a sus 481 años logró impartir su primer año lectivo 100% en línea a más de 192 mil estudiantes, casi 43% de la matrícula universitaria del país.

«Para nosotros, estar habituados a la tecnología fue la vía para enfrentar la demanda de servicios estudiantiles durante el confinamiento. Al tener nuestra información actualizada y en línea, pudimos ofrecer autoservicio a los estudiantes y agilizar los procesos críticos», afirmó José Horacio Cabrera, director de Informática.

Para Cabrera, la transición de presencial a virtual se hubiera hecho prácticamente de un día para otro, pero debieron capacitar a docentes y administrativos en el manejo del sistema de información estudiantil, gestión financiera y académica de la plataforma Banner.

Por otro lado, en Ecuador, la Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), mediante el uso de estas herramientas digitales, pudo automatizar y digitalizar la expedición de documentos, lo que evitó la presencia de estudiantes y profesores dentro del campus.
